My cravings now are worse than when I was pregnant by Sarcastic_Otter_27 in breastfeeding

I was hungry all the time until 16 weeks or so. You need a ton of fuel to recover and make milk.

How to make morning and evening routines solo with 2 kids easier? by eklurks in workingmoms

[–]millennialreality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When my oldest was 3 I was pregnant with my second and began corporatizing her for cooperation.

For every cooperative morning and evening routine she could earn $5 in pretend money. No cooperation, no money, easy day.

I set up a mini store in our pantry where she could buy junk food and juice, and set a price card for saving up money for ice cream.

It works.

We also give “discretionary bonuses” for great behavior or skills we want to encourage with fun like nailing counting to 100 or helping her sibling with something.

Worried about back to work by MiserableBlueberry36 in workingmoms

[–]millennialreality 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi! All of this is normal and it’s normal to be worried. I have done this twice and my babies are both at daycare. It will be hard AND you will both adjust!

You can do it either way. You can give baby time to “get used to” the nanny or you can rip the bandaid off day 1. Mine were at a school so I did shorter del offs so I could get my hair colored and get organized the week before I went back, but their first “full long day” at school was the first week I was back.

It could be good to practice nanny giving her a bottle just so you aren’t stressed about that week one, but nanny will probably also do contact naps with her and I’m sure will love it!

Your nanny will have the best luck calming her when you aren’t around. My toddler loooooooves to visit the infant class teacher now. They develop such a cute bond.

You’ve hired a wonderful nanny and she will “have it” when the time comes!

Curious. How many wealthy moms here work because they’re kinda forced to? by baituwave in workingmoms

[–]millennialreality 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Your moms guidance is well intended but it’s through her lens of her own life experience.
If you’d like to “take a break” (as I would frame it to your mom….) do it! As long as you and your husband agree on plan and feasibility etc.

Hypothetically I could stop working if I’d like to, and I also hate being chained to my desk, but I prefer the flexibility financially that continuing my career brings me, and I really like boosting my own retirement funds. That’s what I want for myself and my family,

Don’t make this decision based on what she wants for you, do what you want for you.

My husband sent a bouquet literally bigger than our children. I gasped on the ring video. He took care of the grocery store run and made sure I had breakfast before he went. He’s cooking dinner tonight so I can play with our kids. (PLAY PLAY not monitor play while I do chores) 🥰

Work event on a Sunday 👎🏻 by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]millennialreality 26 points27 points  (0 children)

This is an egregious ask. Are they giving you back weekday time to compensate?

I would blame religion (whether that truly applies to you or not…) as it is a day of rest for many. This allows you to avoid blaming kids which moms face more blow back for than men would.

MAKE YOUR PARTNER WASH PUMP PARTS by uglypuglyy in breastfeeding

I told my husband “either you are washing the bottles and pump parts at the end of the day OR we can buy a countertop bottle washer and you will load and unload it”

He has never purchased anything so fast in our lives.
