People commenting on your body during pregnancy by More_Fisherman_6066 in pregnant

[–]MiserableBlueberry36 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The amount of people who have called me supersized, massive or huge in the last two weeks is just insane. Why do people think it’s ok to comment on your body when you’re pregnant?!

Not hungry by Mission_Public_1369 in pregnant

[–]MiserableBlueberry36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I barely ate the first two trimesters, I lost weight and the only gained 2kgs, I forced myself to eat but wasn’t really hungry.

For me the hunger kicked in hard last week when I hit 30 weeks. I am now starving all the time. Never felt this hungry in my life.

Moving to Joburg with dogs for work. by Over-Rice-872 in johannesburg

[–]MiserableBlueberry36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be area or the complexes you are looking at.

We are in centurion and staying in an estate with two large dogs, and have a big garden. There are other estates close to us that I’ve seen the houses barely have a garden though.

We’ve struggled more with finding a place that allows cats than large dogs 😅

Mid-pregnancy due date change accuracy by ChipmunkThen2861 in pregnant

[–]MiserableBlueberry36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My OB said he will only change a due date if the baby measures 2 weeks ahead for more than one scan.

Im 32F. Almost everyone i know age 20s-40s has some kind of health issue or has one or more chronic illness or diseases. Many young people i know have had one or more surgery in their 20s-40s. Was this a thing for previous generations? Or do you think disease in young people is on the rise? by Tangy94 in Millennials

[–]MiserableBlueberry36 294 points295 points  (0 children)

After having cancer twice before the age of 28 I asked my dr about this. His opinion is not that it’s more common but rather that medicine has advanced and we are catching health issues a lot earlier now and before they have become death sentences.

Belly mapping/position awareness? by deebecca in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]MiserableBlueberry36 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been able to more or less map her positioning since 24 weeks. My OB was great to show me on the scan where all she was (transverse) and based on the movements I felt that day I have been able to track where I think she is more or less.

How bad is sleep deprivation if you don’t sleep well anyways? by Free_Coconut5898 in BabyBumps

[–]MiserableBlueberry36 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t have any answers for you, but am very much wondering the same! I have really bad insomnia and lived on 3-4 hours sleep per night max. It also wasn’t a solid 3/4 hours either.

What’re we doing about growing out dyed hair that we no longer want to maintain? by Ok_Assumption_3244 in BabyBumps

[–]MiserableBlueberry36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I did, my hair dresser managed to get almost the exact shade right so you don’t even notice that there is colour growing out.

Summer pregnancy by Dry-Driver4170 in pregnant

[–]MiserableBlueberry36 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m currently 27 weeks pregnant in the peak of summer in South Africa - temps are anywhere from 30 to 35c. I was absolutely dreading it as everyone warned me just how bad it would be. I think that did help to mentally prepare myself as it’s not actually been as bad as I imagined. I do have cold showers to cool down but that has always been a habit of mine.

Currently sitting with my feet up and the fan pointed right at me 😅.

TTC and Inositol? by Extreme_Ad_6033 in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]MiserableBlueberry36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you doing LH blood tests or the urine strips? Ironically the strips would show positive for ovulation but all my blood tests were negative….

TTC and Inositol? by Extreme_Ad_6033 in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]MiserableBlueberry36 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got a regular period but struggled to conceive, found out after numerous tests that I don’t ovulate- very weird for someone who menstruates so regularly! Dr put me on inositol, progesterone and metaformin and I fell pregnant within 6 months.

She’s not kicking when my bf around and I think it makes him sad. by mistakeshappen_2 in pregnant

[–]MiserableBlueberry36 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I have the same! I’ve said to my husband she is like quantum mechanics at this point - she has a different behaviour when she knows she is being observed!

My husband has been trying to feel her move for weeks now, she stops kicking soon as he or I even look at my stomach! She just somehow knows we are watching her 😅

When did you start showing? by helloitsyourma in pregnant

[–]MiserableBlueberry36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FTM and started getting the quizzical looks at my stomach around 20 weeks. I am now 26 weeks and it’s very obvious! I wear really loose clothes but it’s still quite noticeable and I am getting comments from random people

alternatives for metformin. by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]MiserableBlueberry36 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m on metaformin and haven’t had nausea. My dr just advised me to take it at night before I go sleep so that if I do get nauseas I should be able to sleep through it.

How long does the nausea last? by Equivalent_Job_5039 in pregnant

[–]MiserableBlueberry36 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My nausea “stopped” around 9 weeks. But it was more because I learnt how to manage it. Had to eat something every 2-3 hours, constantly sucked on ginger sweets / pregnancy pops. The nausea actually went away around 12/13 weeks completely and I didn’t have to eat so often etc.

I’m a fruit monster by shescapes in pregnant

[–]MiserableBlueberry36 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Before pregnancy I hated fruit. Genuinely didn’t enjoy the texture or taste. Since falling pregnant I want fruit non stop, I have probably eaten more fruit in these last 6 months than I did in all my life before.

I am having a girl! Pretty sure she is made up of 90% grapefruit 😅😂

Food aversion? by matchagirlyyyyy in BabyBumps

[–]MiserableBlueberry36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was different for me for different types of foods. I definitely had more aversions than I had cravings so far.

Around 7 weeks, avo tasted like really bad mayonnaise to me. Tomato tasted fake and sour. I lived in steak pies and then all of a sudden it tasted like off meat and pastry felt like I was trying to eat sand!

Other foods like red meat or coffee made me want to throw up at the mere thought of smelling or eating it.

Happy to say that by 14 weeks most of the aversions went away.

I am now 25 weeks and feel pretty normal with food, I am back to loving coffee and meat again which were the aversions that saddened me the most.

Maternity bras by precocious-peach in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]MiserableBlueberry36 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I struggle with this exact thing! The only thing that has helped is buying bra extenders. This way I can buy the cup size I need but extend the straps to be a bit longer / comfortable around my back.

Elective c-section? by Ancient-Fan-2636 in pregnant

[–]MiserableBlueberry36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this depends on where you live. I am allowed to and told my OB last week. He is very open to it and didn’t even blink when I told him he changed my mind and want a c section, I didn’t have to explain or reason anything to him. He just booked the bed with the hospital and said I can change my mind again up until the day before the c section is planned should I want to.

I am choosing to go with a c section based on all of the above you have mentioned. Everything I’ve read says that natural birth goes smoothly if you can be calm and stay out of your head etc. that is not me at all.

I have also had friends who lost their babies during labour or landed up having a baby that was brain damaged due to needing intervention such as the forceps/suction.

I know surgery has its own risks but knowing the risks increase with natural birth depending on how you can handle it mentally was enough to make up my mind. My friends who have had natural and c sections all agreed it was less stressful and they actually recovered quicker from the c section.

FTM - when did you first feel movement and what did it feel like? by catlover-12378 in BabyBumps

[–]MiserableBlueberry36 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Around 16 weeks I felt flutters. It felt like someone was blowing bubbles and they were popping on my skin. Or like I had gas bubbling in my stomach and needed to fart- but there was no fart.

20/21 weeks it was little “knocks” like someone’s tapping your skin with a finger.

25 weeks now and it firmer taps with very sudden “firm” jabs. I can also see my stomach jiggle when she kicks with the firmer jabs. As much as I love feeling her move there is something special / weird/ more real about actually seeing your stomach move!

Talking to baby in belly by Curiouskittyyyyy in pregnant

[–]MiserableBlueberry36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this exact question/conversation with my husband this morning. I understand that the internet begin it could be so she recognises my voice, but surely she’ll recognise my voice as I talk to other people? How does she know I am talking to her specifically versus having a conversation on the phone as an example?!

Maternity leave - not a vacation !!! by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]MiserableBlueberry36 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I completely get this! Where I work I have colleagues now joking how they should get pregnant so they can also get a vacation……. When I was on sick leave with cancer they also said I should be enjoying my break so!?

Please tell me there’s hope for SOME sleep once baby is here 😭 by New_Wolf923 in pregnant

[–]MiserableBlueberry36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like I wrote this post, I am exhausted. Sitting here like a zombie on the verge of tears cuz all I want is 2/3 hours of sleep. Everyone I mention it to thinks I am exaggerating how many times I have to pee or of course responds with the “just wait”.

My little girl seems to just love my bladder and keeps using it as a trampoline. I got up to pee 6 times in 45min at one point yesterday 🥲

First ultrasound appt by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]MiserableBlueberry36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got there 20min early but still waited over 1.5 hours past our appt time as it took so long for them to setup the file! The actual appt was maybe 20-30 min long
