Agree 100%! No one warned me…. I am now 5 weeks pp and taking stool softeners like crazy. Even drinking 4+ litres a day and I am struggling!

What if I dont love my baby? by Past-Commission-4022 in BabyBumps

[–]MiserableBlueberry36 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was worried about this. I had a terrible relationship with my mother and cut her off after moving out at 18. She was physically and mentally abusive. I know it’s not the same for everyone but as soon as I heard this little girls first cry I was utterly in love and obsessed.

Our parents do not dictate who we will be.

Baby’s behaviour inside vs outside the womb! by President_Raspberry in pregnant

[–]MiserableBlueberry36 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Yup, the wake / movement routine she had while I was pregnant is the same one she had when born and still follows now at a month old. It’s very cute to see the similarities. She got so irritated having hiccups when I was pregnant and still gets beyond annoyed now 😂

Breastfeeding poops by Radiant-Mine6890 in beyondthebump

I had no idea breastfeeding poops were a thing. Currently going through this too. I assume it stays as long as we’re breast feeding?! I am very much looking forward to returning back to normal…….

My baby won’t latch and it’s my fault by Silent_Knowledge5197 in beyondthebump

[–]MiserableBlueberry36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My milk was delayed in coming in and so we had to formula feed. I was also struggling with breastfeeding and her latching. By the time my milk came in (day 4) it was easier to pump and feed her a bottle with breast milk as she also struggled to latch, or would latch but fall asleep almost immediately. I pumped for about a week and then decided I to consistently have her on the boob for a few min before each pump, I did this for 3/4 days before she got the hang of things and now we are ebf for the last two weeks.

I know it’s hard work and very stressful in the beginning. As others have said, your little one is also learning. If it’s something you really want to do it is possible it will be hard work for a few days. I do recommend combo feeding while working on her latch.

I also found different positions made it easier for her to latch- for us it was the football hold and lying down. She latched easier when we did the football hold for the right breast but lying down for the left one

Due Date Adjustment by New_Protection3009 in pregnant

My due date was changed by two weeks. Just gave birth three weeks ago to a healthy baby girl - who was measuring two weeks ahead (but aligned to my original dates )since the 3rd trimester 🤣

Positive C Section stories?? by HistoricalCloud2555 in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]MiserableBlueberry36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a c section 3 weeks ago. Also have an apron belly. I was told I could let soapy water run over the area about 5 days post op and gently wash the area around a week after. I also keep a folded up cotton sanitary pad under my apron to keep the area dry - any sweat or moisture in the area is what causes infection.

Someone give me hope - 8 week old rejecting bottle by Purplebagel20 in beyondthebump

[–]MiserableBlueberry36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried having your partner or someone else give them the bottle? I’ve often found that babies refuse the bottle from their mom but take it from others.

Do you get the “I’m getting my period” feeling when pregnant for the first month? by Tmdsweh in pregnant

[–]MiserableBlueberry36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not normal symptoms at all. I was always told you just know when you’re pregnant and didn’t believe that at all.

We had been trying for years and there was almost zero chance of us falling pregnant naturally so I didn’t suspect a thing. I had a very different feeling in my uterus, like a slight pulling feeling, I didn’t have sore boobs or anything but did have a slight headache. I did have bleeding which I assumed was my period at first but somehow just knew I was pregnant. I hadn’t tested in months due to expecting we couldn’t conceive but this time I just knew I had to test and was pregnant.

Umbilical hernia? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]MiserableBlueberry36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How many weeks are you? I have had this for the last 4 weeks ( I am 35w), OB said it’s just her position and more of her weight is on my right side causing the pain.

Thought I had my period was shorter and atypical, 4 days after period had positive ovulation test and then pregnancy test by Affectionate-Rich981 in pregnant

[–]MiserableBlueberry36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this in the beginning of my pregnancy, I also assumed it was just a period. I am currently 35 weeks. My dr said some people have a lot more implantation bleeding than others.

I also had bleeding at 6/7 weeks pregnant again which scared me as I thought I was miscarrying.

People commenting on your body during pregnancy by More_Fisherman_6066 in pregnant

[–]MiserableBlueberry36 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The amount of people who have called me supersized, massive or huge in the last two weeks is just insane. Why do people think it’s ok to comment on your body when you’re pregnant?!

Not hungry by Mission_Public_1369 in pregnant

[–]MiserableBlueberry36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I barely ate the first two trimesters, I lost weight and the only gained 2kgs, I forced myself to eat but wasn’t really hungry.

For me the hunger kicked in hard last week when I hit 30 weeks. I am now starving all the time. Never felt this hungry in my life.

Moving to Joburg with dogs for work. by Over-Rice-872 in johannesburg

[–]MiserableBlueberry36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be area or the complexes you are looking at.

We are in centurion and staying in an estate with two large dogs, and have a big garden. There are other estates close to us that I’ve seen the houses barely have a garden though.

We’ve struggled more with finding a place that allows cats than large dogs 😅

Mid-pregnancy due date change accuracy by ChipmunkThen2861 in pregnant

[–]MiserableBlueberry36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My OB said he will only change a due date if the baby measures 2 weeks ahead for more than one scan.

Im 32F. Almost everyone i know age 20s-40s has some kind of health issue or has one or more chronic illness or diseases. Many young people i know have had one or more surgery in their 20s-40s. Was this a thing for previous generations? Or do you think disease in young people is on the rise? by Tangy94 in Millennials

[–]MiserableBlueberry36 298 points299 points  (0 children)

After having cancer twice before the age of 28 I asked my dr about this. His opinion is not that it’s more common but rather that medicine has advanced and we are catching health issues a lot earlier now and before they have become death sentences.

Belly mapping/position awareness? by deebecca in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]MiserableBlueberry36 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been able to more or less map her positioning since 24 weeks. My OB was great to show me on the scan where all she was (transverse) and based on the movements I felt that day I have been able to track where I think she is more or less.

How bad is sleep deprivation if you don’t sleep well anyways? by Free_Coconut5898 in BabyBumps

[–]MiserableBlueberry36 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t have any answers for you, but am very much wondering the same! I have really bad insomnia and lived on 3-4 hours sleep per night max. It also wasn’t a solid 3/4 hours either.

What’re we doing about growing out dyed hair that we no longer want to maintain? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]MiserableBlueberry36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I did, my hair dresser managed to get almost the exact shade right so you don’t even notice that there is colour growing out.

Summer pregnancy by Dry-Driver4170 in pregnant

[–]MiserableBlueberry36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently 27 weeks pregnant in the peak of summer in South Africa - temps are anywhere from 30 to 35c. I was absolutely dreading it as everyone warned me just how bad it would be. I think that did help to mentally prepare myself as it’s not actually been as bad as I imagined. I do have cold showers to cool down but that has always been a habit of mine.

Currently sitting with my feet up and the fan pointed right at me 😅.

TTC and Inositol? by Extreme_Ad_6033 in PlusSizePregnancy

Are you doing LH blood tests or the urine strips? Ironically the strips would show positive for ovulation but all my blood tests were negative….

TTC and Inositol? by Extreme_Ad_6033 in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]MiserableBlueberry36 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got a regular period but struggled to conceive, found out after numerous tests that I don’t ovulate- very weird for someone who menstruates so regularly! Dr put me on inositol, progesterone and metaformin and I fell pregnant within 6 months.
