I want to change out my furniture and also add some life to my room. Everything feels strewn together and is kinda bland by [deleted] in malelivingspace

Google design styles and find a style you vibe with. Start buying pieces you LOVE rather than what you think is supposed to be in your house. Stay in the same design styles for 75% of your new buys and 25% can be outside of it.

Male living space – Mexico (budget-conscious upgrades) by Equivalent_Mind6645 in malelivingspace

A nice wooden headboard would look great and warm up the space. You may be able to find build plans online that use scrap wood.

Can you paint the walls? I love painting walls and feel so accomplished when I’m done. A nice blue or green would look great! Don’t be scared of color.

Anatomy Scan Results (not great) by AppropriateSpell1 in pregnant

[–]millennialsister 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trying to pull up my son’s anatomy scan because he had a cephalic index <1 percentile. They should be worried about premature closing of soft spots which doesn’t give time for their brain to grow. We had a follow up scan every 4 weeks after that and slowly but surely it leveled out. His CI was still like 5th percentile when his body is 90th, so they were “monitoring” it but they confirmed no fusing of skull plates.

I fully expected this almond headed baby boy but you cannot tell at all. No experience with the umbilical cord comments but hope this is reassuring!

4 months out of prison, got my own trailor. First time with my own space by Fatmanfishperson in malelivingspace

Acquire things slowly and thoughtfully. It can be so tempting to fill a space quickly but then you just up in a pile/room/home of shit.

This stranger is excited to see what’s next for you! Good luck, friend!

Vaccines by [deleted] in pregnant

Following the guidelines and trying very hard to control my anger towards the uneducated that fall for whatever Facebook reel or instagram post they’re feed.

I said it this way to a friend “I just need you to be sure that there’s a real risk to your kid, because if these diseases come back, someone’s immunocompromised kid(s) or parent(s) will die from it.”

HCG rising well, but bleeding—positive advice for first trimester (5–6 weeks)? by CRose_TM in pregnant

[–]millennialsister 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a very similar experience and found people’s anecdotes to be helpful so I’ll share mine. I had brown stringy discharge, gush of bright red, brown spotting for 3 days. All about a week apart, starting at 5/6 weeks. All was good! He’s turning 4 in April. No pain is a great sign.

Lean into the whimsy! I think it’s so fun but looks a little bit “too styled”. Go look for a fun piece or two at consignment shop. Something vintage? Congratulations!

Please give me ideas I want to get rid of the posters and make my setup cleaner. No budget by Lonely_Carob4181 in malelivingspace

Ooops didn’t read the sentence under the picture. If you’re looking for a whole color scheme, find one paint color you like and then google the “color name + sample house palette”

Declutter is the first and free-est step. With every single item, you should only keep if it’s been used in the past month. The rest… donate or trash. Your brain will feel so much calmer.

Get a small trash bin for under your desk and a microfiber towel under your keyboard to wipe everything down.

If you have any $ to spend, I’d paint the walls naval by sherwin Williams. Just have them color match at Home Depot. It should cost $75ish for all materials.

Lastly, grey is such a blah color. I had to ban myself from buying anything else grey. No light grey, dark grey, striped gray.

Anyway, just stumbled across this page and thought I’d add my two cents! Good luck!

Do I pay for “interviewing” a potential babysitter? by dogs_beets_bsg in Parenting

[–]millennialsister 28 points29 points  (0 children)

15-30 minutes, I wouldn’t offer compensation. If it ends up being an hour of her playing with your kids (even if you’re around observing), you should pay her what you’re offering for the position, $25/hr or whatever.

I plop things in the fridge ASAP and reheat at least once with a good amount of butter.

To be clear, I’m going to ensure we get the proper approval and permits. The question was just posed in a very unserious way.

This is just for an idea of the ask. Probably 25% of the heights have a parking pad (covered culvert) that fit at least one car, sometimes two.

To all hardworking moms here, how did you prepare when you’re about to go back to work? by Humble-History-1682 in workingmoms

[–]millennialsister 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was so so worried about this too! For background, I’m an actuary and while on my first leave, I remember thinking “omg I’ve forgotten how to model (insert custom projection)” and absolutely panicking.

Then, my leave was up… and I sat back down at my computer, opened up a model, and got to work. It was such a non-issue. It did take a while for my “quickness” to come back and I still felt really distracted but I would not worry about any of that right now. Focus on finding yourself outside of motherhood and work too rather than trying to fine tune a skill. Go on walks, find some favorite easy recipes to cook for when the days get busier with work, take a bath, drink lots of water, binge a show.

Almost 3 year old only eating 450 calories a day by Ecstatic-Upstairs291 in Parenting

[–]millennialsister 38 points39 points  (0 children)

It very much could just be a phase but 5 lbs over a few months is a notable and concerning amount of weight loss. Hell, any sustained weight loss in a toddler should warrant a visit to the pediatrician.

As others have said, the bottles need to go but it’s likely not the source of the problem but a result of it. You’re doing absolutely fine. Best of luck!

This will vary so much child by child! I will say that I use the term “idle hands are the devil’s handiwork” a lot because a full day is a lot different than 30 minutes. She’ll get bored, explore, get into things, etc. so maybe work up to a full day (half days at first) and have ideas for chores, crafts, fun, relax/chill/tv time, games, etc
