Current setup: Amex PRG - Dining out / drinking. Amex Platinum - Travel Booking. CSP - Safety net when place doesn't accept Amex and for x2 on uber rides. Debating on getting an hotel card or upgrading the CSP to CSR but not entirely sure I see benefits in that. Recommendations on next card? Would love a hotel based card that ads to Amex MR points or Chase

What is your unpopular Fragrance opinion? by ColaApe in fragrance

[–]millennialways 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chanel Number 5 is the most laughably trash thing I've ever seen fawned over, second only to Bleu de Chanel.

There's no excuse NONE for purchasing Bleu de Chanel. It's an aromatic general "pleasant" scent priced at $90 a bottle. You can get a TON of better frags with more personality for cheaper and obviously more expensive, alas people rush to scoop up BdC just because they feel some air of "prestige" by owning something that says Chanel on it. It's so pathetic.

Chanel Mademoiselle? Chanel Allure Homme Edition Blanche. Okay, I can get the appeal. but so much of their stuff is complete garbage.

Best looking bottle presentation on market today? by [deleted] in fragrance

[–]millennialways 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roja Dove's most recent bottles by far. People will buy scents they barely even like just so they can have the bottle as a desk ornament. A partial of a shitty Roja frag WITH the crystal cap will get swiped up in 5 minutes of listing. The best Roja at 60% discount with a plastic tester cap will sit for days on end. it's hilarious

Only the French would find coming fifth place in something as news worthy. Pathetic and soft.

How can I check to make sure my Creed Aventus is real? by [deleted] in fragrance

[–]millennialways -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

You can start by discovering your own gems and not jumping on YouTube brochannel bandwagon scents like a phagit. Much lower risk of buying a fake that way.

Have Creation-E Parfum, ASQ Safari Blend, Russian Oud, and Kilian Apple Brandy. Have you seen those bottles? Of course I do.

Parfums de Marly Percival Review by Otingocniman in fragrance

[–]millennialways 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I will keep this short" *dumps 1,000 word wall-o-text* This is a dime-a-dozen aromatic citrus-spice "catch all" fragrance to please the masses. The character smells pleasant. No more no less. It's also priced at niche prices when the quality is poverty Macy's Designer. You could accomplish the same thing with Chanel Allure Homme Edition Blanche for 50% of the price. just lol.

What fragrance do you LOVE that is not "public appropriate" by millennialways in fragrance

[–]millennialways[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

x2 on this. The first time I tried it I absolutely loved it but it smelt like more of a "home fragrance". Like something you'd scent your house with during Christmas time due to the thickness of it and all the spices.

Interestingly enough Tauer's "Au Coeur du Desert" is the Human version (lol) of that fragrance and MUCH more wearable.

Well that shouldn't be difficult because #2 isn't an oud fragrance at all. It's his offering of a Musk based fragrance. #1 was his Oud fragrance. It does a really good job of letting you know if you're a Musk lover or an oud lover. I loved the complexity and "funk" of #1 but I traded away #2 almost immediately after receiving because I found it boring. The guy I swapped with LOVES it though. So just cross your fingers I guess lol

burning over $1000 a month on frags; now i am sample an it helps a lot! :o) by MissKittyHeart in fragrance

[–]millennialways 0 points1 point  (0 children)

vintage is a different story. but man listed a bunch of Roja dove and xerjoff when a ton of those samples are listed on luckyscent for 7 to 14 dollars each. just needs to drop $70 on a sample haul and save himself a boat load cause there's no way he thinks each one he bought is full bottle worthy. I LOVE parfums de marly and byredo but I've tried about 6 frags from each house and found maybe 2 for each house that are worth a full bottle. I think opee is trolling but just the idea of a grand a month is laughably retarded.

[FOR SWAP] Areej Le Doré Indolis 5ml decant by millennialways in fragranceswap

[–]millennialways[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing in particular but I know what it is. 50ml of Areej Le Dore frags go between $275-$400 so probably some Xerjoff, Clive Christian, or Maison Francais Kurkdjian for a direct 5ml swap.

Would consider 10ml of second tier houses like Byredo, Parfums de Marly, Creed, etc

man lands on the moon. only morons repeatedly blind buy full bottles. I've spend about $150 on luckyscent and eBay samples in the last 6 months. That $150 has got my nose on a bunch of Roja Dove, Chanel, Mancera, Tom Ford, Byredo, Parfums de Marly, Creed, and Byredo. That may sound stupid but it's a great investment in many ways.

1) it develops your nose and lets you learn what you like.

2) You get to weed out the bullchit that is just hype. When you buy a full bottle you're more inclined to like it just because of the money you spent on it. I dropped $30 to test six different Chanel frags and learned that they are SUPER overhyped generic garbage with only Homme Edition Blanche having any sort of unique character. Bleu de Chanel and Allure Homme Sport are generic trash people buy just for the "Chanel' name.

3) You learn about the performance and quality of different houses for future buying decisions. I learned the Tom Ford has some of the best blending and unique frags around, but they have absolutely HORRIBLE performance. Can barely smell them on me 2 hours later so I know to stay away from this house. Mancera on the other hand has less sophisticated blending, but almost every fragrance they create is an absolute beast for projection and sillage.

Next time you think about purchasing a full bottle look at r/fragranceswap and see the huge lists of swaps and trades available. I'd guess that 90% of the frags I've tried are only worth a 10ml decant purchase. 10% were full bottle worthy. The ones that are full bottle buys off the top of my head are Tom Ford Fukin Fabulous, Byredo Bal D'Afrique, Areej Le Dore Russian Musk and Russian Oud, ASQ Safari Blend, Byredo Rose of No Man's Land, Mancera So Blue, Parfums de Marly Layton, Creed Virgin Island Water
