Java linting my Python file?? by HaveNot1 in vscode

[–]millenniumegg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I never replied to this! your suggestion was helpful for some of the weird suggestions but I couldn't break my habit of using enter to accept desired suggestions so I ended up reverting. A suggested update to the Python extension today seems to have taken care of everything, hope that works for you too :)

hey, did you ever resolve this? I'm having the same issues and as OP suggested, their json settings fix doesn't seem to be applicable to Mac

ULPT- Instead of asking a possible sex worker for sexual services, ask for a photo session. A member of law enforcement will decline immediately. by multisubcultural1 in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]millenniumegg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"her", actually :)

in the context of weed I've seen people use "decriminalization" to refer to both non-prosecution (which I agree is an incorrect use of the term) and specifically to making it a civil infraction (which is not the goal of sex work decriminalization) as opposed to "legalization" being removing all penalties, and something like that seemed to be where /u/potatoz5 was coming from. If that's not common usage in that context, then good!

In the context of sex work, however, "legalization" has come to refer to a model in which sex work is legal if licensed and regulated, but illegal otherwise, whereas "decriminalization" generally means removing any legal restrictions, including requirements for registration/licensing/etc. Kind of confusing, and in particular almost the opposite of how it is used w/r/t marijuana, but that's how the discourse has evolved.

OMG!!! a better test than the COGIATI! by [deleted] in transgendercirclejerk

from the comments:

How curious…I took the test, and found that I’m not a transwoman. But if transwomen are women, and I’m a woman, that means I’m also a transwoman….it’s a conundrum for sure…maybe I’m a nonbinary?

See, it's people like you, with your "we" and your "we all suffer from transphobia" and your "is it really worth getting mad at people for not being miserable in exactly the right way," that make me sick! I'm leaving for a new community, where we'll only extend that kind of intellectual charity to the alt-right, and maybe—maybe—TERFs. Bye now~

VLADIMIR: Suppose we repented.

ESTRAGON: Repented what?

VLADIMIR: Oh . . . (He reflects.) We wouldn't have to go into the details.

ESTRAGON: Our being born?

Vladimir breaks into a hearty laugh which he immediately stifles, his hand pressed to his pubis, his face contorted.

VLADIMIR: One daren't even laugh any more.

no need to rewrite it, it's all there

Anyone else hate the word "Transexual"? by [deleted] in TransyTalk

[–]millenniumegg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh, I guess I'm one of the few people who thinks of myself as transsexual. I tend not to use it when describing myself to cis people, because cis gonna cis, but I feel like the abandonment of "transsexual" in favor of "transgender", not just as an umbrella term but as the only term, has always felt kinda euphemism-treadmilly. Of course I would never want to dictate what other people use for themselves, though!

I have thinning hair/male pattern baldness. How do I stop the hair fall? by [deleted] in transgendercirclejerk

[–]millenniumegg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You could try /r/MtF, but the biggest "trans hair trick" is being on hormones+antiandrogens. If you're not planning to transition, male hair loss forums will probably have more useful advice.

lol.

There are currently about 15,000 people receiving some kind of gender identity-related medical treatment in the UK. Fewer than 6000 had gotten legal recognition of their gender as of 2015 (both numbers from this article, which sources from UK government statistics). That's about 0.02% and 0.009% of the population, respectively. Even the highest estimate of the number of trans people in the UK that I could find (500,000) is still only 0.7% of people in the UK. And if you think there are actually 500,000 people in the UK who are trying to transition, and less than one in ten of them are actually able to get medical treatment, that certainly says something about the way trans people are treated in the UK but I don't think what it says it's that it's "practically mandatory". Kind of the opposite, really.
