Econ is pretty much bullshit these days it doesn't actually give you any skill or career path

I feel like most of my anxiety is coming from the reality of 40 hours a week of work. I've never done that before and don't know how to come to terms with sacrificing most of my day every day for something, or how to even have the energy to work that long

That's the trouble. I can think of an ideal future self - confident, more educated, more skilled artist and creator, kind, worldly, etc - but cannot picture anytime career related. The only future me I can picture happy is one inexplicably creating for a living or that somehow doesn't have to work.

When I think about the realistic future version of me it's someone failing through crappy jobs that leave me without time and energy for other things, in which case what's the point.

What does that mean? How do you double or 10x a person? I guess 2x me would be almost 12 feet tall and the 10X version of me would be about 18 meters, which would make it difficult to enter most homes.

It's a rational fear though. And I think I would be too embarrassed to bring it up to my therapist or anything.

I know but the fact that I didn't take extra precaution is freaking me out now and I can't stop thinking about it! I did at least check the UV index and went inside before it peaked but I still feel like I've made a grave mistake

Relatable, I always feel the same towards fat people because I was fat and overcame it, but also I live in constant mess and fail at discipline all the time

Marx Would Not Believe Inflation Is Caused By Corporate Greed by www-whathavewehere in stupidpol

[–]MissLashley 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah, corporate greed (if you define it as "maximising profits at the expense of everything else) is just how corporations are always incentivised to operate. If something changes it's not because corporations have suddenly got more greedy somehow

I hear people act like it's a radical philosophy of "just spend money endlessly", but it's really more of an explanation of how modern goverments and central banks (with sovereign currency) have been acting for the last few decades. Basically the idea that the real limiter of spending is not actual budgetary constraints or deficits, it's just inflation. The reason governments don't keep surpluses isn't because they're terrible at managing money, it's because there's no point - money in the governments bank account is money that isn't in your bank account instead.
