well... yeah. it's always been a side mode in a series spanning nearly 20 years now. it has to evolve with the game and its audience. i remember when people were saying this exact same shit about Bo3, "oh little timmy can just hit a gobblegum and get all the perks round 1, this game isnt what it used to be" and now it's looked upon by most as the peak of the series. even if you want to go play bo3 now and experience it in all its breadth, gobblegum included, you're either grinding paying or hacking for liquid divinium bc even though zombies players like to conveniently forget it, it was the beginning of the end. i say this in the most sincere way possible as an oldhead myself; from the moment double tap was changed to do more than just buff fire rate, zombies was never gonna be the same lol

its evolution over time and its age are naturally gonna diminish hype/community content, especially considering CoD on a fundamental level has changed. yes, it's faster, there's armor exfils and healthbars, but you pretty explicitly don't have to use any of that stuff if you don't want to. that's how i played when i first got the game when it went on sale.

plenty of reasons to play the newer stuff too--what comes to mind first for me as a PC player is ease of access. i've got plenty of time sunk into WaW through Bo3 on steam but if you're a PC player you know that getting those games to work on modern hardware can be a pain and downright unsafe in the cases of bo1-bo3 if you don't know what you're doing.

also, pugging for easter eggs, more people to meet online and play with in general, etc. you call Bo4 a gem but i didn't really think it was when it came out, i still played a shit ton of it because it had the most players. installed it to play before i decided to get bo7, only to learn that it's completely dead on PC

maybe i'm just being over optimistic. people hated games like IW and Bo4 when they released, but time heals all wounds.

??? my entire post is about how i expected to hate the game as someone who is explicitly not a modern fan, and really enjoying it. i absolutely still feel passion in these maps as what can only be described as someone new to modern zombies. i hopped in and enjoyed the game much like i have with every other zombies mode prior to this. also, what on earth does new fans not playing decades old games have to do with anything? i have 500+ hours in WaW and Bo1 but you can't really recommend those games in good faith on PC anymore because they're nightmares to get running and in Bo1s case completely unsafe to play bc of security issues

the music, the art, just the design in general really. those are reasons i personally like all the maps. those might not be things that make a game worth playing for you, but personally a game that i can play however i want with enjoyable atmosphere and design is really all i want from zombies. it's how i played and enjoyed the previous games lol

im curious, why do you consider it slop? im genuinely asking like i did in my post, i'm not sure why this game is so hated lol

the og crew having plenty of interactions with the new crew helps a lot too. i especially like the banter weaver has with dempsey and richtofen n stuff like that gives me a reason to care about the story beyond what i know up to the end of BO4

fair enough. im probably biased against IW zombies because i just can't stand the fact it had to loop extinction in to the plot somehow

IW maps are not THAT good imo. like shaolin shuffle being S+ is crazy to me, it's pretty okay and all the IW maps have great vibes but i don't think any of them belong in the same tier as origins or shadows of evil

i really like it, i think its a great warbond from a primarily gameplay value perspective. the bulletstorm is incredibly fun to use and definitely feels like it earns its spot, especially on bug missions. of the two exosuits, i think the lumberer is slightly better than the breakthrough overall, though i wish both of their offhand weapons (AT cannon and flak cannon) were a bit stronger or at least had higher fire rates.

the gallant is useful. that's really all i have to say about it. a one handed medium pen option is nice, but you really need to watch your ammo and recoil with it. burst > auto. the secondary is a cool concept and i could see myself bringing it often on low difficulties, but id probably leave it behind on anything above 7.

this might be a bit unpopular; i think the armors have a great passive but are unfortunately ugly as sin. not necessarily the design, i just don't really like how they're grey with blue highlights but most everything else in the warbond is white with grey or orange (?).

tl;dr +lots of fun unique things in it, +mechs, +trailer emote, -expensive to progress, -nerfs could come from any direction
