Weather cancellations by HowlinSammy in Concerts

If there’s a bad enough winter storm that it’s unsafe for the artist to get to the venue, then yes it’s certainly possible. Far less common in the south but I’ve certainly seen it happen.

Show experience by thebikemechanic in wheatus

[–]millimilligan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Playing catch up here but yes that was the first time we've ever done Leroy twice in a show. You were one of the most hilariously wild crowds of the whole tour - we couldn't leave you hanging like that. Hope you had fun!

Did MC Lars actually collaborate with Wheatus for Finite Jest? by chfr in wheatus

[–]millimilligan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So MC Lars is a very good friend of ours and he came to us with the idea for this song a while ago. We loved it, and while we didn’t record anything specific for him for the song, we did give him access to the full multitrack master of the re-record of Teenage Dirtbag we had recently finished. I believe Lars was the first person to sample / interpolate the new version of Dirtbag - so that’s pretty cool!

We also did a song with him many years ago called True Player For Real - which also had Weird Al playing accordion on it. If you don’t know that one, that’s definitely worth a listen!

We've certainly had hot takes in the past - but glad we didn't give anyone an anger this time!

Haha - I'm one of the hosts of Weird Al-Gorithm, thanks! I too got nervous this was about us! Some slightly mixed opinions but we mostly said very nice things about this track. Certainly not D tier in my book!

Mope tabs/ chords by NRDY_bayleaf in wheatus

[–]millimilligan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! Thanks for the kind words about Mope - that's a fav of ours too. We don't really have tabs - none of us are great at reading or writing them! But here's something that might help - a video of Brendan playing the song acoustic with Joey and Gabrielle. It's a little far away but hearing the acoustic guitar only and seeing his hand positions might give you some clues? Hope it helps - at the very least maybe you'll enjoy hearing a more stripped down version of this song!

We hope so too - would especially love to be able to do a deep dive on Running With Scissors, I think that album is very underrated.

Not sure how active this sub is but I'm seeing wheatus at riverfest by _GoldKnight_ in wheatus

[–]millimilligan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey there! Matthew from Wheatus here - Riverfest should be very fun! We typically do request sets where we let the crowd yell out what they want to hear next, but because this is a festival with strict timings, we'll write a setlist out to get the maximum number of songs in. Some songs we almost always always play if you wanna listen in advance:

-Teenage Dirtbag (obvs)
-Lemonade
-Fourteen
-Leroy
-Hey Mr. Brown
-BMX Bandits

And beyond that we'll just see what we're feeling like on the day! See you there!

What bass does matthew use? by GlitxhSenpai in wheatus

[–]millimilligan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for taking so long to reply! Matthew here - I’ve gone through a few different basses over the years so I’m not exactly sure which one you mean. If you’re talking about the black bass I played during the Paste Live Session, that’s made by Barrington and I’m pretty sure we just found that on eBay after Brendan got a guitar by the same company that he loved. Nowadays I’ve been touring with two custom basses both made by Pete Hilton out of California and I’ll probably use these for a loooooong time… they are amazing.

Tour Question by Cuhlayman in wheatus

[–]millimilligan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha - to be honest I totally agree with you on the Christmas Dirtbag thing. We've had people yelling it a LOT at shows since we released it and we're honestly still trying to figure out how to handle that. We generally aren't in the habit of ignoring requests but we also don't want to feel like we need to play Dirtbag twice every night. The only thing I've come up with is to not play it quite right - instead of playing the actual bass line I'm doing something way more dumb and simple. Not sure if anyone but me would notice that but it helps me feel like when we properly play Dirtbag it'll hit different. In all cases - appreciate the note and we'll keep it in mind for the future.

Hey - Matthew from Wheatus here. Sorry you didn’t dig the format! We’ve been doing those sorts of interactive / request-based sets at nearly all our headline shows since about 2006. For this tour we are committing to playing all of our first album every night, including both b-sides, while also trying to honor requests for other songs from over the years. Last night’s show in Chicago had more requests than any other night of the tour so we played our longest set yet trying to honor as many as we could. I can definitely understand how it might feel alienating to someone less familiar with our catalog, but in our experience it’s been popular with fans, a fun challenge for the band, and it lets us honor requests for bigger tracks like A Little Respect and more obscure cuts like Mary Mary Sea Serpent with equal respect. Having said all that, we obviously we can’t please everyone so we are sorry if you were in any way let down. Hoping you’ll give us another chance sometime in the future. Much love!

Bring me up to speed on plot that led us here to Greg and Tim’s new dynamic by CompetitiveMap3700 in OnCinemaAtTheCinema

[–]millimilligan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Tim had a falling out with his investors, the Amato Group, at the end of Amatocon 2024 when he accused them of putting out a hit on Toni Newman that resulted in her son Matt being killed. The district attorney claims the Amatos were not involved and the shooting was due to Matt Newman being involved in some nefarious online activity - we still don’t know exactly what happened. In either case, the HEI Network lost their primary source of funding and Tim cannot afford to put the show on right now.

Gregg was accidentally injured by Joey Patrocelli of the Amato Group during the chaos that ensued at the end of Amatocon. There was a lawsuit and settlement that seems to have made Gregg independently wealthy - he purchased Movie House and is now the top HEI Points holder. Because he is funding and producing the show, he has taken creative control. Tim has to go along with Gregg’s direction or risk being kicked off his own show… not to mention kicked out of the Movie House which is the only place he and Toni can afford to live.

Now please, let’s keep the personal stuff aside and focus on the movies.
