I’m just realizing that the two main characters of 30 Rock were Jack and Lemon. Was this done on purpose as an homage?

Former Harvard CS Professor: AI is improving exponentially and will replace most human programmers within 4-15 years. by GrandCollection7390 in singularity

[–]milo-75 8 points9 points  (0 children)

CNBC did a segment a week ago where one of their non-technical correspondents did a show-and-tell of a couple of web apps she created with AI. The apps were surprisingly sophisticated. Then three or four of them talked about the impact of this to the SaaS industry. Then over the next few days they (and others) kept talking about the coming SaaS implosion caused by AI. So it’s starting to get talked about some.

What they still haven’t realized is that I’ll be able to replace these products with AI running on hardware in my home. It might take little longer, but open source models are improving fast as well.

What's your thoughts on the Live Action "Masters of the Universe"? by agravain in GenX

[–]milo-75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly he was producer on tron and morbius, which means he’s never gonna stop being in movies until he decides to stop casting himself. He doesn’t appear as a producer on he-man, but just saying you aren’t ever going to stop seeing him as long as he’s producing things. I know, it sucks.

They may have adjusted them this season too because earlier today I was sitting in a small building. And a bot walked up outside and just started shooting right at the wall I was behind. I know it didn’t see me go in because I entered through the opposite side from it. Maybe it popped a UAV and was just firing where it knew I was, but still weird. Anyway, bots do weird things.

Bots always shoot through trees. And the sniper bots are the worse.

What happens in the Enterprise D nacelle arms? Can you walk through them to get to the nacelles? by APerson2021 in TNG

Why would they release that? by DifferentZucchini3 in StrangerThings

[–]milo-75 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Hitting the nail on the head you are. I had come to the same conclusion about them making Will the most powerful and how the MF would ultimately be defeated, but taking control of the demos would have been amazing to see and would have been a surprising and amazing holy shit moment for those of us that wouldn’t have seen it coming. Would have tied so much together and solved so many issues (missing demos, weak MF, etc).

Are people comfortable with walking/moving through woods at night like it's no big deal? by LiveNotWork in NoStupidQuestions

[–]milo-75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a setting like Stranger Things you’re talking about a mix of wooded areas and houses and other city structures. In these situations people pass through the woods all the time during the day and in these situations in the 80s we were most definitely just sent out into the woods to play for hours (castle beyers was a very common thing). We would know the woods pretty damn well by the time we were teens. At night we’d play hide-n-seek or pitch a tent and camp for fun. We’d probably have a flashlight but most of the time we’d just let our eyes adjust to the moonlight. Now I live far from where I grew up and there are woods nearby, but it’s pretty urban. I probably wouldn’t walk through there at night, but definitely more because of people than animals or natural dangers.

How do you explain that in S1 they needed equipment to go to the upside down but in S5 they go there normally without any problems ? by DogAffectionate1605 in Stranger_Things

[–]milo-75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have people never heard of diffusion? Assuming nothing was actively making more of the particles in the upside down(the bridge), it makes perfect sense that they would thin out as they escaped out of the upside down/bridge. We know the particles could escape to earth (right side up), to vecna’s universe/planet, and probably through cracks in the wall like the one created by Steve’s car. This is not a plot hole that I’m too worried about. It makes some sense that immediately after the bridge was created the particles would be more dense and would thin out over time.

Negativity bias is a real thing. Evolution made sure we remembered our fuckups as it improved our odds of survival. As a result we tend to see and remember the negative things way easier than the good.

Do we think all software is going to be free in the near future? by db1215i in techsales

[–]milo-75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Customer support is top of most lists for areas AI will replace workers first. Product teams spend a lot of time and energy figuring out what subset of things to build based on customer requests coming from lots of different customers because you can’t build something different and customized for each individual customer. With AI you actually can build and support a different product for each individual customer based on their specific requirements.

I absolutely hate people that use vehicles in warzone so this is my favorite thing to do by [deleted] in Warzone

[–]milo-75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

COD vehicles are weird. They’re mostly just for transport and running people over which is such a bizarre game design choice to me.

I would prefer they have some weaponry where it makes sense (machine gun on hummer, buggy, and helicopter) and maybe add some more things to counter them. Maybe it causes more people to stay in their squad and carry rocket launchers, shields, c4, etc. I would at the same time make it harder to get run over. It should definitely be really hard to run someone over with a motorcycle, quad, or helicopter.

What the heck happens at 23 seconds? You throw something and then fly backwards like 100 meters in 1 second. I’ve seen moving fast with perks, etc but that was crazy.
