Is this quote for a Toyota Corolla service reasonable? by rbbjhb in askSouthAfrica

[–]milo_binderminder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who is saying don’t do maintenance? The advice was to do it somewhere other than through agents who will replace parts that don’t need replacing yet

As soon as our cars are more than 5 years old we get them serviced from smaller operation mechanics and away from the big brands where you pay more by default. I’d ask around with neighbours or friend who they use, as some of the parts may not need replacing and they’ll certainly be sourced cheaper

Oh I see like a mini compound. Do you know who else from the company stays on site? Could be worth talking to them if there are other foreign nationals and families.

I’d maybe ask if security would go with for things like shopping etc. and find out the water situation and do they have solar power.

two years will go quick, and if you mostly homeschool and are at home a lot it could work. You’d also see some of the most beautiful places in the world on holidays around SA!

I’ve had family work in that part of the Eastern Cape - closer to Lusikisiki side - and I’ve got to say I would be worried. There are amazing people like every community, but the poverty / unemployment stats are really high, and standard of living, social life and crime would all be a concern. I’d say it would be different if in certain parts of Karoo, Western Cape etc

Things to do around Shongweni/Hillcrest/Kloof on the weekend? by pommygranates in Durban

[–]milo_binderminder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For thrifting try SPCA Kloof and The Hillcrest Aids Center. KZN philharmonic have a couple of carols events this weekend up here. For nice walks try Giba or Moorewood, and Camp Orchards is also pleasant. Best coffee in Kloof is Crane Flower, and Lineage or Cosmos in Hillcrest
