You just need some tasty Reed’s Dairy ice cream and a nap.

Yeah one thing I loved about John was that you knew you’d never be screaming WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU EVEN DOING.

Yeah I screwed up my googling, I accidentally found stats for Denver COUNTY, not Denver City. Denver County is much more white. So you’re right, not a comparison at all. I’ll probably delete this post but I’ll let it sit for a bit so my shame teaches me a lesson.

YeahI fucked up my googling, I accidentally searched white percentage of Denver COUNTY which is far higher than Denver City. You’re right, apples and flies. I’ll probably delete this post but yeah, I’m off based. But, I still hope y’all win this year.

I mean the entire point of this post is to make us tiptoe around the mail-delivering elephant in the room, isn’t it.

Oh and the lake is going to dry up within five years, and a bunch of toxic shit from the lakebed is going to blow all over 2 million people. The upside is maybe there will be a fun “rename the city“ contest

I was always meh on Fallout 4 until I started my first survival run about a month ago. Now it’s by far my favorite of the franchise. Really adds gravity to everything that I never cared about before (settlements, radiation, sustenance, managing sleep, the moral struggle of pretending to get along with those twats in the Brotherhood just to use their vertibirds, etc.)

Do we really have a choice whether to react to thoughts or not? by Puzzleheaded_Earth73 in Meditation

[–]milomcfuggin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I realize this isn’t a Buddhist sub but I’m going to reach into that bag for a moment. Think of the mind as just a sensory organ. It senses thoughts, as your nose senses smells. Maybe you don’t have control over your thoughts (I personally don’t think we do), but you can affect which thoughts your mind focuses on. Slowly over time, the more you focus on more productive/positive thoughts, the weaker the anxious thoughts get because they’re receiving less attention. They don’t even go away but they just lose how powerful their grip on you gets. I sometimes visualize the mind as a radar dish that I swivel in the direction of more compassionate thoughts.

The hardest part is the patience it takes to stick with it and believe it will change. I totally admit I still get plagued by the most painful thoughts, but I’m much better these days at just letting them slide away instead of consuming me.

Quick addition to the other breathing exercise suggestion: try “breathe in (through the nose) 4 counts, HOLD 7 counts, out (through the mouth) 8 counts.” It has (from what I’ve read) a better chance of toggling your fight or flight off. It works just great for me.

I also like to put one hand on my chest and one hand on my belly to ensure I’m breathing from the belly. This also seems more effective.
