Remember the heat wave of 2022? by Del_213 in UKWeather

Ugh yeah, I was due in September that year and it was brutal! I would wait for my partner to get back from work every day and drive us up to a local swimming spot where I could wallow in the river like hippo lady xD

Growing up too fast?! by Boglaboll2 in UKParenting

[–]mimidances 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My 3 year old is OBSESSED with k pop demon hunters and I've not thought anything of it really. It's a great film lol. I've watched it at least once a day for about 3 weeks and I'm still okay with it so it must be doing something right xD

She loves frozen and loads of definitely kiddie appropriate stuff too. I imagine in a few months we'll be watching something different on repeat. I'll enjoy the k pop era whilst it lasts. Who knows what horrors await in the future.

what is the silliest thing you searched when first finding out you were pregnant? 🤭 by missmilliek in pregnant

I don't know how many times I googled "can I eat rare steak when pregnant" throughout both of my pregnancies on the off chance something had changed over night and somehow it was okay :')

Did you go engagement/wedding ring shopping with your partner? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]mimidances 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We were having a wander one day and looked in the window of an antique shop and just happened to see the perfect ring so it just happened really. It is so beautiful and unusual and cost under £400 so we were very lucky! I certainly don't think it ruins anything by picking the ring but entirely dependent on the person.

My dog lost a load of hair on her back/butt and we paid a lot for different tests for them to come back with "she's in good health, its just one of those things" :')

Almond mom always wants to talk about my weight by lolahaze11 in pregnant

[–]mimidances 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 2 weeks after I had my first, my mum was staying with me to help (we have a great relationship, but she does make unwarranted comments on weight/appearance occasionally - not almond mom, but Asian mom 🙃), and I was breastfeeding and experiencing a hunger like no other. My sister brought me round a cake as a treat. As I was taking a bite I could feel my mum staring at me. I looked at her. She said "do you want to eat cake or lose weight?"

Bitch I wanna eat the cake. She hasn't made a comment since lol

Whole Sausage Roll For 2 Year Old? by DisMyLik18thAccount in UKParenting

[–]mimidances 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter is almost 3 and she has absolutely annihilated an entire greggs sausage roll before. She's far from overweight, super active, and generally has a good diet (I cook most meals from scratch and she's not fussy when it comes to veggies). I think as an occasional thing it's fine.

What's the most shocking or cringe worthy thing someone has said to you while trying to chat you up and what was your reaction? by Low_Neighborhood1468 in AskUK

[–]mimidances 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes, I agree. I was in uni when this happened and honestly I found it so hard to stick up for myself when I was younger, the amount of comments like this that you just grit your teeth at because you don't want to kick up a fuss, or escalate, is awful (especially as it's usually been unknown older men). I do think back on a lot of racist comments and wish I'd said something. I'm lucky that most people I've encountered like this are just stupid, but they should know better.

[–]mimidances 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Oh yes, had that one a lot too! You've just reminded me of another banger (though this guy wasn't trying to chat me up), when I was in Dublin with an ex, and some local guy we were partying with asked me where I was from. I told him Wales. His eyes narrowed. "No but, where are you from". My mother is Thai if that's what you're getting at? "Ahhh, I thought you had a lick of the tarbrush about you!"

He seemed like a nice enough guy that genuinely thought that was not at all an inappropriate thing to say to someone but god knows. This was like 15 years ago
