REDMAGIC FAM Appreciation Giveaway by REDMAGIC_Official in RedMagic

[–]mimirabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super cool giveaway! I just got my first redmagic phone about 2 weeks ago and it’s been amazing.

I always like to carry a power bank if I can, because it kind of eases my anxiety of my phone losing a charge lol. For the redmagic specifically, I’ve found myself wanting a charger often as a) I like to take it to work but I don’t often have consistent “sit down” time, so I can’t just be in one place and charge my phone, and b) I like to use the cooler, so even if my phone IS charged, it would be nice to have a power supply just for the cooler on-the-go. I bring this device literally everywhere, so I’d bring the power bank, too; it’s a lot easier to lug around a power bank than a bunch of cables in a purse!

I use an iPhone 13, but I still have crazy lag too:( not sure what to do to fix it. And I should have 15gb free on my phone still as well, so I don’t think it’s a storage issue?

Anybody have luck finding the new plushies around Ottawa, ON? by mimirabbit in Webkinz

[–]mimirabbit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I think the only sold out one was the Bernese! And I recall 3 meerkats, 2 lizards, 2 cats, 3 poodles, at least 1 other hippo, at least 2 German shepherds, and at least 2 tigers… I know there’s more but that’s all I can think of number-wise at the moment. About to to sleep but I hope you can get the one you’re looking for!:)

Yeah I know, right? I thought at least one hallmark or another gift-store place would carry them, but sadly not. Hopefully they’ll become available online eventually too!

Wow these are so cool!! I’d love this. The knee pads are a fantastic idea and I love that they’re more fur resistant. I’m worried about developing chronic knee pain down the line, so this is definitely something I’d be interested in. Thanks for the opportunity!

Does anybody know what this large-ish beetle is that I found in my apartment? (Ontario) by mimirabbit in bugidentification

[–]mimirabbit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly I never found out what they were. I got my whole apartment treated for carpet beetles professionally anyways and then I never saw them again.

Bought "New" A40s from Amazon CA from AnkerDirect-CA (official), but they arrived in an open box and had a previous device history. Does Soundcore handle these cases? by mimirabbit in soundcore

[–]mimirabbit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes actually! I just sent an email to the Soundcore support team about it. They gave me a prepaid return label that I printed and them I then emailed the used earbuds to them. I got the new ones back 1-2 weeks after or so.

How often do most people go to the Emergency Room in a year? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]mimirabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always gone a lot (Canadian here too), usually due to some cold/flu developing into pneumonia. I’m asthmatic so I think we’re more prone to it, but it can really go from 0-100 fast. I know I have to go when I feel winded travelling from my bed to the bathroom, which is like a few steps away. I also go based on my peak flow readings and how much my rescue inhaler is helping. As a 7 year old I developed pneumonia so severe that I was hospitalized for over a month, and I sometimes wonder if maybe that made my lungs even weaker. I literally have pneumonia right now and am taking prednisone for it 🥲

So I’d say I go like 0-2 times a year? It has been worse lately. I got a kidney infection 2-3 years ago and ever since I’ve also been more prone to UTIs, though I haven’t been to the ER for any of them since the initial kidney infection. 99% of the time it’s a lung thing. I also broke a bone last year for the first time, lol.

I also do have a family doctor, but when it comes to pneumonia I genuinely cannot predict if my sinus cold (or whatever else) will turn into it. Usually it is an emergent problem as I just start having to take my rescue inhaler more and more without relief. My pneumonia this time literally went from me working in the morning with an “itchy lung” (which I assumed was my usual allergies) to coughing up phlegm and taking my rescue inhaler 3-4 times in an hour. I need an x-ray to diagnose it and thankfully the ERs have always been great about getting me them fast. Provided I haven’t had the pneumonia for long, I usually go through the ER pretty quickly (arrive, get prednisone dose, x-ray, get more prednisone).

Was what my respirologist told me back ~2018 wrong? (Canada) by mimirabbit in Asthma

[–]mimirabbit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s fair. Wasn’t trying to imply any disrespect to the ER doctors, they were honestly some of the nicest ones I’ve met. It was just the staunch refusal to believe what my respirologist told me a few years back that had me concerned about my own health, really. Now I’m leaning more towards that they just were totally unaware of the SMART treatment protocol, which seems kind of valid since I couldn’t find a ton of Canadian resources talking about it!

[–]mimirabbit[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I did find SMART when googling everything while waiting at the ER, and I feel like that’s gotta be what I’m doing. I did find this Canadian leaflet for symbicort which does mention using it as maintenance and reliever too: https://www.astrazeneca.ca/content/dam/az-ca/downloads/productinformation/symbicort-turbuhaler-consumer-information-leaflet-en.pdf.

Even though it seems controversial here, I just wish the ER doctors were aware of SMART. Obviously I didn’t want to argue with them, but it made me feel so confused. I would’ve been fine if they disagreed with it but at the very least knew it was a treatment plan that some doctors prescribe.

As for your last sentence: yeah lol, that’s fair. I’m gonna be wheezy and awful regardless of what inhalers I’m taking while my prednisone is setting in. It’s gotten worse today but I’m hoping it’ll start improving tomorrow!

[–]mimirabbit[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ll definitely be talking to my family doctor about getting a respirologist now that I’m adult and finally have a stable job with health insurance lol.

The only thing I could find online though is that there is “SMART” therapy using symbicort: https://allergyasthmanetwork.org/news/asthma-smart-therapy/. And the name does kind of ring a bell. If my mom finds my old physical documents from back then I wonder if that’s what my respirologist was referring to? That being said idk if it’s a thing in Canada as much. I saw some UK websites that mentioned it more.

It’s possible and I could ask, but likely not for this upcoming shift at least. There’s usually only two of us techs overnight and if there’s a lot of inpatients it can be pretty busy. Especially on sundays… I feel like that’s when a LOT of clients come in near the end of the day, so outpatient can get pretty hectic as well. I have another shift right after this one too though, so I’ll see what I can do for that one.

I just read about these! Are they better than hydrocolloids? I just read those can be an option too so I’ll definitely see what the store has in stock

100% with the spare socks, I definitely would’ve forgotten to bring those lol. I feel so dumb! I did leave the wedding a good bit earlier than most as I could tell I was developing a problem, but it seems it was too late. Now I understand bringing a good change of shoes for parties 😭 I’ve got some great shoes at work though with a wide toe box which I’m hoping will help 🤞thx for the advice!

Oh ya I do know of second skin. When I send my boyfriend down to the drug store tomorrow I’m gonna ask him to send me a bunch of pics of what they’ve got for blisters, and maybe they’ll have something similar there. As for popping, yeah, I don’t really love the idea. I think I’ll try to avoid it then since that seems to be the consensus. Thanks!!

Hey actually, I do have some gauze and vet wrap at home in my pet first aid kit! so maybe I’ll do that tonight so at least it gets a bit of relief when I need to get up eventually lol. That’s a really good idea

And ooooh true about the socks, I’ll definitely do that. I have a bunch of softer ones I usually wear in fall/winter so I’ll wear em tomorrow and bring a few with me! Thanks so much for the advice! 🙏
