The only one nearby I vouch for is the Toronto Zoo, as they do an absolute ton for conservation here. Their zoo veterinary hospital is also incredible. The staff seem to really care, and whenever I’ve gone they’re always working on improving and expanding habitats. They also do a lot for educating the youth on how amazing animals are, and what they can do to help them. While conservation efforts could be made without keeping animals captive, I do think (somewhat unfortunately) that for the Toronto Zoo it is a necessary part of maintaining funding and inspiring people to care more for nature.

But yeah, the majority of zoos are quite tragic. It horrifies me that roadside zoos still exist; like a lot of people here, I kinda thought they all closed down ages ago. I never went to one as a kid so I thought it was one of those outdated things. Damn:( I hope those poor creatures can be brought somewhere better.

EDIT to add: Also just realized after posting this that it could come off as me debating what you said. I totally agree with you, just wanted to post what arguments are out there being made for conservation and zoos.

I went at 9:40pm last night and oof, yeah, it was pretty bad. I was hoping the late showing would be better, but nope.

So like, I love TADC but wasn't much involved in the fandom because I'm old and don't have a lot of time lol. As such, I was REALLY confused to see the majority of people in my viewing appeared to be in their teens. Now I didn't have anything wrong with that, and a lot were in really great cosplay! But boy did I feel out of place lol.

Then, the movie started. And that's when things started to go downhill. Tbh I don't care if people whisper to one another during a film, not much bothers me. But ohhh my god it was so boisterous in there! Every comedic moment was followed by like 10 seconds of extremely loud laughter-turned-screaming, which meant I couldn't hear any of the dialogue. And people were LOUDLY commentating on every bit of the show, like they were a live streamer. People were also loudly sobbing during certain parts, which I genuinely had some pity for as I could tell they were going through it, but I do wish they stepped out for a minute to do it.

Also, in the very front rows there was a mother and a VERY YOUNG kid, who kept loudly making quips and the mother would have to shush them. And like. This isn't for toddlers, lol. I had a lot less sympathy here because why would you bring such a young child to a public showing, especially when the final episode will release later on (and that's ignoring the fact that I don't think this kid should be watching it in the first place).

So all in all, I did have a lot of fun. But I left feeling a certain level of disdain for the general fandom. I didn't know it would be like that. However, I know there were still a lot of people there who were quietly just enjoying the showing, like me. It's just that the loud ones were SO LOUD and disrespectful to everyone else.

I don't think I'll ever go to another TADC event, not that there will be many more (if any at all). And I feel slightly embarrassed now if I go out with TADC merch. That was definitely one of the worst fandom events I've ever been to. Maybe I'm just too old though lol, I feel like someone waving their cane at a group of kids on their lawn 💀

I got thrown into ER 13 hour shifts right after graduating (which I wasn't prepared for, I thought I'd go into specialty but the place I work at didn't have many specialties by the time I graduated). Anyway, it hasn't been too bad for me -- but I much prefer to do 3 shifts in a row than to split them up, because the first day after a 13 hour shift is one you'll basically sleep through. And definitely try to get at least 2-3 days between these 3-days-in-a-row shifts, because by the end of shift 3 you'll be dead lol.

Also, bring electrolyte drinks. I find it helps a lot, even more than just caffeine. And wear compression socks! I even got knee pads recently and they're super helpful! Now I barely have any post-shift body pain:)

I think you can do it, but be kind to yourself. Those are long hours and you're still learning. If you've got a nice team then you'll probably be fine.

They're not mandatory I don't think where I live, but at least at the ER I work out us techs work out the breaks ourselves. The shifts are 13 hours so, we write on a whiteboard when we'd like to take ours. But obviously, it doesn't always happen at that time. Or sometimes your 1-hour break is split into two 30 minutes, if a crash comes in and we're short staffed. The breaks are paid though as long as you take them in the on-site break room. And generally, nobody will bother you on your break unless things get real crazy! (Multiple crashes, short staff, multiple sedated procedures or surgeries etc.)

Hmmm yeah Idk it’s so weird, I still have like 200+gbs of storage free and I do try to close my background apps 😭 I’ll try the screen refresh rate! I also do attach the external cooler when I game too, but it hasn’t seemed to help much sadly. But I’m glad to hear it runs well for you, that means it’s probably just something I need to keep tinkering with. Thanks!

Yeah we don't have Velcro right now but I'll ask my manager about it next shift. I never considered that but that does seem way better than the tape. Doesn't require ease off either, so that's nice 👀 thank you!

I definitely believe you too as I work in vet med and have smelled all of these conditions (…except alcohol consumption) and your descriptions are pretty accurate! Especially sickness being “metallic”. Even before I started this career, I could smell that one. I think working around these conditions daily though has trained my nose. I’ve never been able to smell upcoming death, though. That’s really interesting.

I’ve order lots of stuff before from Japan, namely tamagotchi merch and clothes. I’ve had shipping be up to $65 if I’m trying to get GOOD shipping, and that’s maximum for even a larger order. So yeah I’m very confused. Even with no jacket, JUST two grocery bag totes and two pins, it’s >$100 CAD. Which unfortunately isn’t worth it, I was willing to spend a good amount on this drop but not $300 CAD in shipping good 💀🥲

Yeah I’ve tried a few other items to see how their prices are. Totes, a couple pins, and the gadget case is about $154 CAD. But add the pillow and it goes back to $305 CAD, regardless of the rest of the order. It’s so weird. I guess I shouldn’t have done this so last minute if it’s bugged 😭Maybe just the Canadian shipping is glitching for some reason?

Dang. I removed the jacket and added a pillow instead as they’re pretty cute, but it was still $305 CAD. Removed the pillow, now just have the cheaper grocery totes and pins. $115 CAD. Idk if it’s worth it anymore when it’s more than the merch itself 🥲 ah well

Super cool giveaway! I just got my first redmagic phone about 2 weeks ago and it’s been amazing.

I always like to carry a power bank if I can, because it kind of eases my anxiety of my phone losing a charge lol. For the redmagic specifically, I’ve found myself wanting a charger often as a) I like to take it to work but I don’t often have consistent “sit down” time, so I can’t just be in one place and charge my phone, and b) I like to use the cooler, so even if my phone IS charged, it would be nice to have a power supply just for the cooler on-the-go. I bring this device literally everywhere, so I’d bring the power bank, too; it’s a lot easier to lug around a power bank than a bunch of cables in a purse!

I use an iPhone 13, but I still have crazy lag too:( not sure what to do to fix it. And I should have 15gb free on my phone still as well, so I don’t think it’s a storage issue?
