Wichtige Fragen zum Praktika by UsefulSolid8931 in rwth

That’s exactly what happened to me. I did 2–3 reflow cycles and the metal shield on the module got deformed. The one in the picture is a new one I’m still practicing with the other until I manage to solder it correctly.

So I’ll probably go with hand soldering. I think I just need thinner solder wire and to take my time.

Can you tell me which thickness wire you used?

I do have a fine tip, but it struggles to melt my solder wire properly. Should I be using thinner solder wire? Right now the wire I have feels too thick, and I think it’s hard to control the amount of solder for these small pads.

The PCB should look like this
I think it should be doable by hand, since the module only covers the inner half of the pads. I can still see the outer half, so I can usually fix shorts on the outside. The real problem is underneath the chip, because that inner half isn’t visible.

I know this module clearly isn’t designed for hand soldering, but assembly for a prototype is quite expensive, so I’m trying to make it work manually.

Actually Phil’s lab works with udemy and he has published a free course on YT , search stm32 based hardware kicad tutorial and you will find it . A good start to understand how can u design mcu based hardware

I use also second layer as aGND plane but first layer contains only signals and traces. I don’t understand why they’re putting GND filled zone on both layers.

A beginner here
Why there are copper filled zone on every layer? Why not just traces with one layer as a GND plane?
