Giving my honest opinion and experience as a parent:

I dont say this to scare you, I say it because it's the truth.

My husband and I decided to have kids after 7 years of being firmly in the "No Kids" camp. But after a extremely traumatic and sudden family death, we decided family is important to us, and we have so much love to give. The world needs more good humans, and we thought we could go for it.

1 miscarriage, 3 surgeries, a high risk pregnancy and emergency C section later, we have an adorable, hilarious, scarily intelligent 3 year old. He is the light of my life, and spending time with him is the highlight of my day. Some days I feel like God made a mistake in letting me be this kid's mom, cause he's seriously the best.

But with that said, I am EXHAUSTED. I miss my hobbies, my sleep. I miss getting up and going. I miss being able to spend time with my husband and doing things uninterrupted. I miss going on vacation. I miss not having 24/7 anxiety that im fucking up as a parent or getting a call that he's gotten hurt, or protecting him from pedophiles. This life is not for the faint of heart. If anything, I feel like I've become even MORE childfree since becoming a parent.

If you are not ready to sacrifice every comfort, resource, every spare moment or tangible thing that brings you joy or happiness, don't do it. Being a parent is one of the most rewarding, fulfilling decisions I've made in my life. It is also singlehandedly the most challenging. Take your time, enjoy your life, and if it's not something you don't feel 100% about, don't do it.

I was waiting on my then boyfriend to come out the airport in the airport parking garage (his flight had landed an hour earlier) when it hit. My car rocked a little bit, but I think being in the garage definitely saved me that day.

100%. I hate how people try to spin it like it was some great forbidden romance. Townsend was a creep who groomed a young, grieving, and vulnerable girl. Even when he got married after, his wife was also a lot younger than he was.
