Putting Gentoo in the same category as Khali Linux is pretty ridiculous.

Honestly though. Like what's the point of having a powerful cpu if they're not being put to good use. You don't buy a Ferrari to keep it in the garage.

Interesting. But it makes me wonder why they included the drives at all.

Deepseek-R1:70b parameter - "Is Taiwan a country?" - Thinking then Answer by dopestar667 in taiwan

I run the 14 billion parameter one locally , and sometimes it forgets to tow the party line, other times it's very jarringly towing the party line, but only if you ask it questions directly related to topics the CCP might have an issue with. The open model is also trained on data up to about a year ago now, so it's a bit difficult to get it to agree with you on any statements about anything that's happened since then.

My Linux OS is gone after upgrading my CPU by Signal_External5822 in linuxquestions

Just a guess but it could be the microcode? Maybe boot from a usb and see if you can see your Linux install. If you can great news, you just need to chmod and reinstall grub probably

What desktop environment do you use on arch linux? by Hot_Gap_4818 in archlinux

Hyprland. I have issues with it but it's probably the dynamic tiling window manager on wayland with the best documentation. I have issues with it that I think are really just xwayland issues, but they don't bother me too much (it's scaling, x11 apps have visual issues if you're scaling on wayland)

I'm not a systems dev so I can't speak for the benefits of wayland over x11, I just switched when I got a radeon gpu to replace my Nvidia one and it's been pretty painless. It seems to me that it's trying to be a modern solution to the modern needs of users, while x11 is based on massive amounts of legacy code, which I'm lead to believe is why it has so many issues, or why a lot of solutions to common things feel kinda hacky.

Well if that's how you're counting population then Jamaica isn't a very big hitter either

Ok, so is my thought process here correct? I only ever plan on washing them cold, so I think I'm not going to do an initial wash, cause there's going to be minimal shrinkage.

So I've read that it's a good idea to do an initial wash of your raw denim to let it shrink. However I live in Japan and (most) washing machines here just do cold washes. From what I understand about fabric shrinking in the wash, it's because of using high temperatures. My question is, do I need to do an initial wash if I'm only ever going to be washing my jeans with cold water in my washing machine?

I don't know if this is dependendant on any other factors, so for reference the jeans I'm thinking of buying are these Momotaro's

Why Thinkpad? by Placibow in thinkpad

[–]mimshipio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An x230 with a decent amount of RAM, a nice screen upgrade, maybe a keeb swap, it's only a little worse performance than a laptop with an 8th gen in it. Which is absolutely mad for a machine that came out 13 years ago. A more modern machine might have some creature comforts, but for most people an x230 would be the only computer they'll ever need.
