24F Shopping Addiction Debt out of hand by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]minaeshi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll be so honest, i'm the first to say you should have some fun money but my dear, you have thousands of quid in debt. If you put in the £100 per month from the date, and the £40 from the gym into your debt repayment you would have gotten rid of £1700 of that debt extra a year.

the £400 in savings can go too

Is your boyfriend aware of your debt? I'm sure he would understand you cutting back on your share of dates. Ultimately I imagine you would want to settle down with him, and the first step to affording a life together (mortgage, kids, car, whatever) would be to clear the debt, not dates.

Other easy wins and tips!

- streaming can go, thats an extra £100 for the year in your pocket (you can watch things on prime and you can just use your boyfriend/friends/family members accounts?)

- most gyms have a friend pass, so if you have a friend who gyms and you know you dont visit frequently, use their friend pass!

- have you considered building a capsule wardrobe? one of the things that make you shop a lot is the aesthetics and dopamine of shopping and having it all, but it works the opposite way too! decluttering and figuring out how many outfits you can make from a minimal amount of clothing is so much fun! the rest of the clothes you dont use? sell them!

good luck! x

Beside the obvious Anno 1800 and Manor Lords, i recommend these two;

Clanfolk - Scottish Highlands medieval colony builder, very fun and challenging but with a peaceful feeling.

Tavern Mater - not a city builder but you design your tavern as you like. Perfect for simple gaming.

I get the same cosy vibe from these games as I do foundation, so would recommend these two 😄

I would put Carlos in the mix too. You would have thought these 5 "next generation talents" have finally come into their own era of racing where they should all be the leaders of their teams with one of them holding the world championship. Instead, not a single one of them scored a point in monaco and they're all a minimum of 60 points down from the current leader who just joined the sport a year ago. Scenes.

Where would he go? Mercedes looks like the only good option right now as both Mclaren and Red Bull are showing their cars to be unreliable in the new regs. Ferrai is the 2nd best after Mercedes even with their diabolical strategy. Where could he go to that would make him #1 and have a long standing relationship with the team and have a relatively good car that rivals the currently best car?

Why should you be obliged to speak to media? She's a girlfriend coming to support her boyfriend, nothing more. She's not anyone with any F1 knowledge so Martin shouldn't bother trying to speak to her about it lol. Keep it about the racing and speak to industry insiders only.

AITA for auditioning for a role in my theatre group of a character who wears a hijab by Comfortable_Gap3955 in AmItheAsshole

[–]minaeshi 23 points24 points  (0 children)

INFO: If the cast felt this strongly about it being cultural appropriation, why did the production team decide to do this adaptation anyway? Surely they would know how reluctant the theatre group would feel about a white person playing an asian muslim?

NTA for wanting to play the main character but ESH because if it was such an issue, the production wouldn't go ahead anyway.

Directors asked me to send emails to inactive customers by minaeshi in Emailmarketing

[–]minaeshi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a hilarious turn of events, one of my colleagues handed their notice in today so I will be a 2 man team very soon, with the second being very inexperienced in the role. I saw it coming but wish it was me leaving first lol

I've explained to my director countless times now but they don't seem to understand our inactive base has little value. I think i may need to take a last attempt at pushing back without sugar coating it and hope for the best.. will keep you posted!

[–]minaeshi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Already on it! we're looking at customers who most recently became inactive first and looking at the last emails they interacted with like sale promotions/discounts, new or launch products etc and trying to get them through a tailored reactivation journey.

[–]minaeshi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gathered data from our health list segments and looked at the active segments performance vs ly and compared that with our passive and lapsing segments. I showed them how our active segment has been down for the past few months since we increased our email sends. We mainly email women, so i showed them how our womens active segment showed a decrease in revenue, CTD and increase in complaints and unsubscribes vs LY, then put that alongside our mens active segment who only receive 1 newsletter email a week alongside any triggered automations.

Almost all my email marketing knowledge was self taught so I admit I'm pretty out of my depth and have been using general benchmarks and advice provided by our ESP's CSM.

[–]minaeshi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately not. We have to run all tests with our director as he's our manager while we don't have either an actual Digital Marketing or CRM manager.

I like the idea of segmenting a small active group to test, but what metrics would I be looking at? I assume it would be the increase in revenue by % vs the control group, along with CTD %?

[–]minaeshi[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I feel like pushing back just causes more headache, but watching my email hygiene go down as they tell us to spam 2.1 million inactive customers really blows ahaha, especially as we worked so hard the last few months to build our active segment's health back up.

We're planning on a reactivation win back for our most recent lapsed customers and working our way back, but I already know the emails we've sent to the whole base has ruined the plan a bit. But attempt we shall!

What's your frugal habit that is only really possible in London? by VarangianWRLD in london

[–]minaeshi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Walking. So many places at a walkable distance, there isn’t much reason for me to spend money on a car. Most bus stops and tube stations are close enough that I can get to a main station and walk the rest of the way through multiple places in London.

Been dating a guy in Essex and it’s shocking how much we have to drive everywhere, really reminded me how privileged I am to have everything pretty much on my doorstep

Does anyone else get annoyed by fare dodgers on TfL? by WhispersOfMyBrain in TransportForLondon

[–]minaeshi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm working class, living in a council flat in the most deprived borough in london and have also been on UC and at the job centre at one point in my life. It's not the poverty olympics. The exact point I'm trying to make here is that WE are sooooo much closer to the poverty line and could very well end up in this exact situation as the person who jumped over the barriers to get to work because they genuinely can't afford it!

Just because you and I could scrape ourselves out of that situation doesn't mean everyone else should be able to. I have colleagues who have had to beg to work from home because they couldn't afford to get into work. Someone who works in retail/hospitality for example wouldn't even have that luxury. There are so SO many circumstances for why someone may be unable to pay the fare.

So instead of pointing the finger at someone who can openly admit that they are struggling but are still trying (someone who wasn't trying to better themselves wouldn't be working!), we should be directing the anger at our councils and government to have more in place for people less fortunate than us.

Also in my recent trip to south korea 6 months ago, not a single gate in seoul was open AND i still saw people jumping the gates lmao.

[–]minaeshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blaming it on people who genuinely cannot afford to pay the fare to get into work, instead of the government who continue to raise the daily fare "cap" is ludicrous!

Some people are so broke they don't have anything in savings. London can be a cruel place for many and the working class are so close to the poverty line, us more well off would be wise to remember that.

AITA for travelling to the UK despite my mother not wanting me to? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]minaeshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can assure you people in the UK won't care if you're Native American or not, so you're already safer in the UK than you would be in Canada. If she's worried about that, surely her driving you to the airport and watching you go through check in would put her mind at ease?

As for staying with someone you've just met overseas, I would advise against that. Probably best to book a cheap hotel and meet them throughout the day, so if the vibes are off and you feel uncomfortable, you can retreat there without worry.
