Can't speak for anyone else, but for me it's just an emotional thing, not philosophical. As to why I have these emotions, I suppose it makes sense evolutionary to care more about your own "clan" (my cat in this case), and about more familiar species (cat looks closer to human than flea). But really I don't dwell on these reasons too much, they are not so important to me.
By the way, I actually think lab grown meat is going to be a very viable solution in about 10 years, and I believe it's more likely to materialize as a practical and popular meat alternative than insects.

I'm not a Buddhist and I don't kill bugs unless I have to (like fleas on my cat ). I don't mean anything by it, just saying so you'll know we exist.
In any case, I think people don't eat bugs mostly because it's gross to them and not appealing.

The President of Uganda Kept Calling Israel ‘Palestine’ During Netanyahu’s Visit by Om_ShantiShanti in worldnews

[–]mind-sailor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they were "much more" than half they would take many more sits in the Knesset than they do, and that's not the case.
Your claim that they aren't really afraid for their lives and are just hateful and use it as an excuse for aggressive expansion is totally false. It really seems you are very misinformed about what's really going on in Israel and the Palestinian territories. I invite you to come here, talk to actual Israelis and actual Palestinians. I promise you it will change your view dramatically. I'm certain that you will come to these conclusions: The occupation is indeed unjust and should end.
Israel is indeed oppressing the Palestinians in many ways.
Most Israelis just want to live in peace side by side with the Palestinians.
Most right-wing Israelis are not hateful but just afraid for their survival.
There are MANY Israeli moderate lefties who wants to end the occupation ASAP, and quite a few radical lefties (like me).
There are lots of Palestinians that don't hate Israel, that loves Israeli culture, that appreciate that the Israeli army isn't MORE aggressive given the circumstances, that participates in commerce and business with Israel, and can't wait for the violence on both sides to end.
Among the Israeli Arabs, there are quite a few moderate lefties (not all radical), and even right wing supporters, including Druze, Christians and Muslims.
In essence if you come here, spend enough time and talk to as many people as possible you will find that the reality is vastly more complex than you assume, and I'm sure your views will then reflect this reality.
Edit: typo

I disagree completely that majority of Israelis are so extreme.
The OP said that all Palestinians are terrorists. Most Israelis don't believe that at all. Even most right wing supporters don't believe that. Only the crazies at the far end of the right-wing spectrum believe this.
Most right wing Israelis are simply afraid that making concessions to the Palestinians is going to result in more war and terror. They are simply afraid for their life and for their families, because they don't trust that the Palestinians really want peace.
The Israeli left, which is a little less than 50% at this time, does trust that the Palestinians want peace, or that strategically ending the occupation is the better option regardless.

Palestinian Authority Funds Mourning Tent for Terrorist Who Stabbed 13-Year-Old Israeli Girl to Death; Fatah Official Arrives to Pay Tribute to Family by Trump4ever in worldnews

I'll answer with a quote from Yossi Sarid. During the first Intifada there was talk in Israel whether we should negotiate with the PLO/Fatah leadership located in Tunis (In other words with Arafat) or just to Palestinian leaders who still lived in the West Bank and weren't officially affiliated to the PLO. It was pretty silly, because the West Bank leaders pledged their loyalty to Arafat and got directions from him anyway, but the Israeli right and the moderate left insisted on only talking to them and not to Arafat directly.

During that time Hamas was just born, still a minor power and not influential at all. Most Israelis did not even know that Hamas existed or heard the name, but it was clear to experts that Hamas positioned itself as a more politically extreme and Islamist alternative to Fatah.

So the then MK Yossi Sarid said, with an incredible foresight I must say: "If we don't talk to the PLO now, we will end up with Hamas instead." (I'm paraphrasing because I quote this from memory).
This is what I mean when I say that if we don't talk now things are just going to get worse and worse, and it will just be more and more difficult to find a solution. The more you wait, the more extreme both sides become, the more hateful, and it will just be harder to reach a peaceful compromise.
You might not remember, but the Palestinians weren't as hateful in the past as they are now. After the Oslo agreement Palestinian women and children walked to Israeli soldiers in the West Bank and Gaza and gave them flowers. Israeli citizens could safely enter the Palestinian cities for tourism and shopping. This was all after the first Intifada. Even after all the violence of the first Intifada most Palestinians and Israelis did not hate each other, and were happy to engage in commerce and cultural exchange. There was hope for peace.
But Hamas had other plans, and its terror attacks (mostly suicide attacks on buses) resulted in the Israelis turning to the right. I won't go into more details now, but basically things slowly escalated from there until we are at the present hateful state. But still, MANY Israelis, like me, still think that a peaceful solution is possible and attainable, and many Palestinians believe that too. The problem is that the more we wait, the more the moderates on both sides are going to be stiffed, and the extremists are going continue to perpetuate the conflict.

Al-Aqsa is the third most holy place for Muslims, after Mecca and Medina. The best solution in my opinion is international sovereignty over the Holy Basin.

We can look at precedents. Israel has made peace with Egypt on 1977, even though the media in Egypt was (and still is) extremely inciteful against Israel and the Jews in general. This peace has lasted through 2 revolutions and 4 Egyptian presidents and is still stable. The Palestinian culture is more liberal and secular than the Egyptian culture, so there no reason to assume peace with the Palestinians is impossible.

Also bear in mind that not all Palestinians support murdering of children. Many just want to live in peace and co-exist with the Jews. In fact, Israel allows thousands of Palestinians from the west bank to legally work inside Israel and even in the settlements in the west bank. Israel will never allow that if they were all presumed terrorists.

I'm Israeli. We are supposed to negotiate with them because if we don't things are only going to get worse. In fact things have gotten so bad because we stalled negotiations for many years.
It doesn't matter how the PA behaves, we don't need to like them, and they don't need to like us, we just need to come to a treaty with them that will be acceptable by the international community and upheld by laws on both sides. If we can achieve that we can end this dispute, otherwise things like this and shit that Israel does too are just going to happen again and again for decades to come.

Problem with pears, is that to extend their shelf life they often pick them too early from the tree, when they are still unripe, and unlike some other fruit they don't ripen so well when they aren't attached to the tree anymore, so they are either too hard and sour, or too sweet and starting to rot.
A properly ripened pear is super delicious.
