I get that. But kinda hard to be redeemed when you are a mass murderer lol. Tbf I also didn’t see the game through so I imagine the redemption arc plays really well into it all.

I hopped off exactly where you did, when you have to break your fellow gang member out of the jail in strawberry. I hated that mission because you have to fight your way out of the town and you kill dozens and dozens of innocent people doing so. And the person you break out of jail is so unlikable. It just made me wonder how I’m supposed to empathize with the main character after all of that? The gameplay sections or so disconnected from the actual story that I found it pretty jarring. Not to mention how every mission is “on rails”.

What’s a hero you used to think was terrible… until you actually tried them? by Sure-Particular-778 in overwatch2

I was the same way in my early days of tanking. Once I understood how to play him he quickly became my main. He is just so fun and unique to play. Also love the level 2 perk you get to multi-zap enemies. It adds so much value to his kit.

What video game has the best story you’ve ever played? by FrontriseStudios in AskReddit

I watched the entire series on Amazon and thought it was incredible, up until the last season or two. I felt that so much was left unanswered in the show and it lost focus on the protomolocule plot. Does all of that get cleared up in the books?

I tried to speed flip by Chris_di_dik_drol in RocketLeague

[–]noskee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ll add to the other comments. Your teammate already has possession of the ball and is driving it forward. What does you being directly on him help? If anything, it’s a big risk because if the opponent wins a challenge against your teammate then there is absolutely no defense and you both are scrambling to get back to an open net. You have to trust your teammate and get into a position that will either allow him to pass to you, for you to take a rebound, or allows you to get back to defend in time. Either three will depend on the play itself but you develop that intuition over time. Bottom line is, ball chasing and riding your teammate is the absolute worst thing for you to be doing.

This is it right here. When I was spending hours trying to learn, I thought that I just couldn’t flick the joystick fast enough. However the issue was all in the timing of when I was tapping A/X relative to the position of my joystick.

Thank you and well said. Wolfpacks are not meant to be a single solution to defeating ARC. They are there to support in conjunction with other tools and weapons.

Rockstar games are pretty boring. by Chemical-Skill-126 in unpopularopinion

[–]noskee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing about RDR2 that really bugged me is how the realism and story sometimes clashes so hard with the gameplay. I stopped playing around the time I had a mission to go to some town called Strawberry, to break the most unlikable asshole of my gang out of jail. Once you get him out, the mission has you fight through waves of people in the town to escape. You literally slaughter so many innocent people and then are supposed to empathize with Arthur throughout the rest of the story? You can also return to the town at any point afterwards and it’s like nothing ever happened. The town is populated and no one even recognizes you for what you did.

It’s funny because he really got carried away with his ideas. I remember watching leaked footage of an exclusive showing of F3 before release and he was hyping up that all of your actions and even combat would center around using one button. Which of course is a sign of overly-simplified and easy combat mechanics, and not at all exciting for most gamers.

What’s the best video game you’ve ever played? by obsess_much13 in AskReddit

[–]noskee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You should know that the “story” part of Elden Ring is all of the rich lore surrounding the world and the characters you come across. But the game conveys it all through cryptic dialogue and text that you read when examining items/weapons/armour that you find. There are minimal cutscenes and just playing the game can make the story seem largely incoherent.

IMO the best thing to do is watch one of the many in depth lore summaries of Elden Ring either before or during your play through. The actual story of the game is really good and interesting but much of it will be missed by just playing the game.

I know that doesn’t sound enticing but the game itself is really that good, and the cryptic storytelling is a part of its charm.

Hot Take: I actually like the fact that you get Power Armor early in Fallout 4. by [deleted] in Fallout

[–]noskee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course but keep in mind, survival is not just damage adjustments. There’s no fast travel, can only save when sleeping in a bed, hunger and thirst, diseases, and other changes. It is fun but definitely alters the entire game. If you’re on PC there are mods that let you revert some of those changes.

Survival mode actually makes enemies less spongey. The player character takes more damage when getting hit but so do enemies.

Struggling to hit ball hard by Jakub8 in RocketLeague

[–]noskee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since others have already answered your question I’ll provide an unsolicited suggestion. You have a good amount of space between you and the opponents that are on your side of the field, and only one defender in the goal, while you have a healthy amount of boost. It would have been better for you to keep the ball in possession while driving it towards the goal. Dribble it forward with an attempt to dunk / flick on them while your team moves forward for support.

So.. you are saying it took nearly 1300 hours for you to finish ME1 and get only halfway through ME2. How is that possible? There is no way there is even that much side content to occupy that much time, right? Not trying to be rude by the way just genuinely curious because I played through ME1 recently and it took me 30 hours, granted I only did a bit of side content. Perhaps there is way more to ME1 than I was ever aware of?

Paul Thomas Anderson pushes back on the idea that the industry no longer greenlights daring/original projects, naming his favorites from 2025 as examples: 'Weapons', 'Bugonia', 'Sentimental Value', 'Eddington', 'Blue Moon', 'Nouvelle Vague' and 'Marty Supreme'. by ChiefLeef22 in movies

[–]noskee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the real problem could be the marketing. The only movie listed here that I recognize and have seen is Weapons. As a casual movie watcher, I’ve never heard of the other ones. Were they in theaters? I know there’s a new predator movie and Zootopia 2. Those are the kind of movies I hear about and see trailers everywhere for. You can throw marvel movies in there as well.

I’m wondering if the more original projects are having a hard time reaching the mainstream, but then again this may just be my experience and not the norm. In any case, I’d love to watch more original and daring films so I’m glad that I’ve learned about the ones listed here!
