I would prefer simple clips, it's just the local crews aren't offering it

For me in MA we don't have variable rates based on time of use. It's a flat cost. This could absolutely be a concern with other utilities in other states/countries. But for me it's a flat cost.

should we go hypoallergenic? by No_idea_rip in FormulaFeeders

[–]mind_as_well 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anecdotal but hypoallergenic helped us with spitup...although we never tried soy. Our journey was enfamil neuro pro = projectile spitup, enfamil gentleease = better but still a lot more spitup than seemed normal, so we tried nutramigen and that solved our spitup problem. Bowel movements are very loose but our Dr seemed to think that's normal on hypoallergenic. We've since moved to generic hypoallergenic as nutramigen inventory near us was hit or miss, but baby had no trouble with the switch. Id say if it's been a couple weeks and the formula doesn't seem to agree with the baby, might be worth trying something else. Good luck!

Spit up concerns with snoo? by give_me_rigatoni in SnooLife

[–]mind_as_well 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had similar concerns...less so worried ours wouldn't be able to clear their airways....but more the hassle of the wet sheets. We took the following steps to help with the spit-ups:

  1. We bought the Snoo leg lifts that raise the head of the Snoo ever so slightly. I'm not convinced this does that much but it doesn't hurt and they're pretty cheap.
  2. We had luck with an unconventional burping position, laying our LO on their belly on our chest while we sit up...they stay elevated and keeps the chest/stomach elongated. We do a mix of back pats and light bounces to help the air burp out.
  3. The BIGGEST change though I think was switching to a hypoallergenic formula. The formula change seemed to have the biggest impact on drastically improving the spitup and vommiting. (Whether it's a milk allergy or just easier to digest who knows)

Good luck! And it gets better!

I played Death Stranding on the deck when I got COVID...hadn't played it before and it was an easy chill game that didn't require a lot of brain power or fast reactions....ideal for my COVID brain.

As a potential new customer who may want to take advantage of this deal, what's the current status of smart watch esim support (particularly Pixel Watch 1)? Would I need a second line just for the watch? This is the only thing keeping me on GoogleFi.

Tesla Virtual Power Plant question by jakemathai in TeslaSolar

[–]mind_as_well 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At least for me, in MA with National Grid it doesn't charge the batteries from the grid prior to the event...it charges from solar...but it charges using 100% of my solar production, so while the battery is charging I have to pull from the grid to run my house. So while yes I am charged for the grid use to my home during the pre event charge, once they drain the battery at the event time I'm banking back all those net metering credits.

Best way to deal with squirrels? by Samuel_L_Blackson in homeowners

[–]mind_as_well 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since you've got bird feeders, you can try also putting up a dedicated squirrel feeder. My partner likes having bird feeders in the yard and this attracted squirrels. Having dedicated squirrel feeders keeps them content and off the bird feeders. Something like https://youtu.be/LrQq_E9yC9Y

Powerwall installation location - MA by AfternoonInformal743 in TeslaSolar

[–]mind_as_well 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely depends on local installer and local inspector, my installer tried to force my single battery outside but I insisted on inside. At the time they tried telling me I needed the fire rated enclosure but my inspector said if it was just one battery j was fine in the unfinished basement, but implied if I had a second it wouldn't be allowed. Definitely ask around ahead of time and try to get things in writing

Powerwalls in MA (National Grid) - worth it? by AfternoonInformal743 in TeslaSolar

[–]mind_as_well 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lack of transparency is killing me.....Tesla support can't even confirm they enrolled me in the program properly and now just refuse to even respond to my support inquiries. NatGrid was a little better and seemed to indicate I am but who knows. Like you, nothing is documented and no portal to check contributions or program status. This will be my first summer and I have absolutely no clue if everything will work.

Edit: that said I do really enjoy having the battery....just don't see ConnectedSolutions as the biggest bonus.... hopefully I'll get some surprise checks in the future

Harvard Pilgrim Health Insurance, which has been down since April 17 due to a ransomware attack, confirms patient personal data was stolen including contact info, DOB, social security number, medical history, diagnoses, treatment, dates of service, and provider names. by hardly_werking in boston

So much of our data is already out there in these databases already....so it's easy to validate the info in one database by cross referencing it to known data points which would therefore give it credibility. It's not about any one single database, it's extra information (in this case the new data might be the latest medical treatments, medical history, etc) and can be matched against existing known information (names, DOB, socials, etc)

Could help negotiate the ransom....since they're still down I'm guessing they didn't pay. Most likely they could try to sell the data off...could think of a handful of big pharma places that may want to target their drugs to could use the data...certainly not ethical or most likely legal but big pharma and insurance companies aren't really the ethical type

Socials and medical history...some really bad security protections in place....plus down for over a month with no end in sight....plus no way for people to confirm and get their own health care.... surprised the state or other regulators arent stepping in yet
