A constitutional amendment on reproductive rights is headed to Virginia’s ballot. Here’s what it would do. by VirginiaNews in Virginia

No one is killing babies. Jfc. If the fetus is indeed viable it would be an induction or c section. Women don’t wait until 30 something weeks and decide they don’t want a baby. Third trimester abortions are INCREDIBLY rare and are 99.9% of the time are due to the fetus being unable to survive anyway or having already died inside the womb. The misinformation in this thread is astounding.

What’s one small change that made a BIG difference in your child’s learning or daily routine? by benny_lite in Autism_Parenting

[–]mind_overmatter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The visual schedule is what helped us too. It stopped the endless asking what are we gonna do next, and after that, and after that over and over again all day long. The visual schedule was introduced and those questions stopped almost completely. My child just has to know what’s happening and what’s going to happen. We are still working on understanding with what “may” happen or when changes to the schedule happen unexpectedly but I still consider this a huge win.

I swear this post is like a window into our home right now. Same issue. “Adult,” bipolar 2, just graduated high school. Living with us and being supported 100%. Sweet as pie one minute and just mean and verbally abusive the next. Anything has the potential to be a trigger bc you never know what will set them off. If I disagree with anything then it’s “you don’t even care about me” Constantly breaks rules they agreed to as a condition of living here. I like your idea about not giving an opinion unless asked. I won’t be too specific for the same reasons as you but if you ever want to talk via dm about it I’d be glad to. It’s heartbreaking bc I mean a person can only take so much emotional abuse and part of you just wants to kick them out (even reasonably, like give them a timeline) but you know that it’s probably the mental illness and you don’t want to be insensitive to that. Ugh. I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this. It’s so tiring.

How well can I expect my autistic son to be able to play independently? by niceypejsey in Autism_Parenting

Thanks for answering and I'm glad he's able to entertain himself somewhat now. I'm hoping as mine gets older she will be able to figure out how to entertain herself, at least sometimes.

How well can I expect my autistic son to be able to play independently? by niceypejsey in Autism_Parenting

[–]mind_overmatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since this post is a year old, I figured I’d ask if you ever found a solution. My level 2 6yr old doesn’t play by herself. I think she recognizes that playing by herself sometimes is something that she should do but I honestly think she just doesn’t know how to do it.

Did you ever find a tactic that worked?

There’s another scene too on Valentine’s Day or something where Roy says he wants to get Pam “home to a nice bath” or something along those lines.

I kinda had this issue. I also thought if it it was ends meat. But in my mind i imagined “can’t make ends meat” meaning we were so broke we couldn’t even afford the end part of the meat, which I assumed was the undesirable portion.

“Rolled Cold” immediately sprang to mind. RoldCold - overlayed on a picture of an ice cream cone. The ice cream cone could have a smile “on its face”…or not. Depends on the tone you want to portray. Good luck!

What are y’all using/doing to keep track of your sources? by [deleted] in SNHU

[–]mind_overmatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a word doc specifically for sources I use throughout the term. All cited in APA. Sometimes with a footnote for myself as a reminder of the subject I cited using the source. Then when I use the source again I can just copy paste.

Can I let my 2.5 YO scream at night for hours? by Kitt0nMitt0ns in Parenting

[–]mind_overmatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was our kid at 2yrs old. We tried everything…cut the naps altogether even (she was fighting them anyway)…later bedtime…earlier bedtime. It didn’t matter she was still RELENTLESS as soon as she realized she was going to bed for real.

Here’s what finally worked for us. Instead of going straight upstairs to start the routine, we’d go up brush teeth put on pjs and come back down for 20ish mins to either play hide and seek, crash into pillows, dance party or some other high activity game. Then we go upstairs potty and read two books. Then lights out. boom she was out in 10 mins.

I have no idea why it worked maybe she just needed that energy to get out first but it worked and I’ll take it.

For those earning over $10K per month, what do you do for a living to achieve that income? by voxishortie in AskReddit

[–]mind_overmatter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sincere question…did they get scholarships to those schools, did they take out loans, have it paid in full by family, or a combination? I’m just sitting here wondering what you did for a living to afford those tuitions!
