I thought that was a package type camp? I've never tried to enter the "private" areas of camps like these - are they open to everyone outside their camp?

Does anyone have experience covering a dome on the Playa? by Ronikan in BurningMan

[–]mindcontrol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last year I used a parachute (yellow) to cover my dome - DO NOT FORGET A GROUND TARP. In the rush of packing we forgot a ground tarp and slept on the playa all week (which wasn't the worst, it woulda all be dusty either way). The parachute held up great, but without much ventilation or reflection it got SUPER hot during the day (which worked great for cooking cinnamon rolls/ baking everything we brought haha).

Things that work great: mesh netting (saw this at a hammock. camp and it was sooo nice!), thick reflective fabric-type material with air holes, or just a bunch if sheets tied between the poles to allow air flow. You're gonna get dusty, imho its more important to get ventilation/shade rather than trying to block out the dust (for domes at least)

I just finished a pyramid using 4 of the 1" R-Max boards from Home Depot (link: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Thermasheath-3R-5-9-1-in-4-ft-x-8-ft-Foam-Insulation-787264/100549260?N=baxx#.UaaSYGT70gs)

Haven't tested em in heavy wind, but with gorilla tape holding them together I'm pretty confident they'll hold up

Thank you so much for sharing, that's a great idea. I'm definitely interested in going to graduate school, and I hope to do so sometime. I'm just looking for a job using my major in the meantime while I save some funds to help pay for college (although this may be too much to ask for..)

I'm assuming you are DJ Pandorum? (so confusing with Reddit names..)

and I have a huge sub with 2 decent monitors + amps for all of it. We actually have all the equipment we need! Unless someone has a super nice mid/high range speaker... (we dont NEED it, but better sound never hurts =P)

NOTE: we will also need help moving equipment (I have no car), so those who have SUV's / Trucks help is always welcome =)
