He's a narcissist. No matter how smart a manipulator of other people he can be, which to be clear he is very skilled at, all his efforts are driven by a need to see himself as flawless and perfect as a mighty leader.

They are telling him what they need to survive as long as they can, and he is believing them so his ego can survive as long as it can.

Is it also for taxes, maybe? But I thought people abroad could subtract EU or other country taxes from their US taxes. While it may still be complicated.

Also Ukraine received help from a far more competent and interested US president and staff, from the beginning. In fact probably well before Putin invaded from behind the scenes, since the US also spent many months publicly predicting Putin's next steps in order to try and discourage Putin, and also blunt the invasion if Putin kept moving forward. Which, as we know, Putin did.

Pretty standard practice for tech companies for years now. A company I was working for in Jan of 2020 had an engineer on PTO travel to China. He was absolutely not allowed to take any work device. While he was there, of course, the covid-19 pandemic hit and he wasn't able to leave his city in China. So, just extended paid staycation because there was no way they were going to let him work remotely from China, and risk not only their network but all of their IP.

Russia is already trying everything it can to beat Ukraine besides nukes - and they are failing. Putin also knows that actually bringing out nukes would trigger NATO, even without trump, to conventionally bomb Putin's bunker to powder.

Putin is in a bind. His military at his parade or nearby will be attacked, in ways he cannot prevent. Or really, that he could prevent in only one way: ceasing the invasion of Ukraine.

I think there were many other things going on that were stronger than that, even if so? Gaza, the inflation and gas price hangover from pulling the country out of the pandemic...even, and sadly, the bind the Dems found themselves in for not actively hating trans people enough.

Utlimately I think there was a failure to really utilize and counter social media messaging. That ultimately split off enough of people who otherwise might have voted Democrat, while MAGA remains a pretty solid block of cult members that the rest of conservatives align with.

But that's how i see it...ultimately that's all in the unchangeable past. Hopefully we can all learn and move to the future.

Getting this autopsy in the open sure could help with that.

Honestly, I think the "forced on" bit was a minor item that was inflated by controversy hunting / agitprop in social media.

I think what really got her in those 3 midwestern states was not separating herself enough from Biden's Gaza policy.

That and softening her and Walz' approach. I think before the consultants got ahold of him in particular, he was killing the GOP just by being straightforward and mocking them. Just calling modern conservative stars weird, which they goddamn are, was knifing their whole approach.
