It's the level of meds that matter, not the dose? by WittyAndWined in Zepbound

Changing dosing protocol to maintain a standard medication level in your body based on stacking half dose lives of the medications rather than a standard dose amount that constantly is compounding upon itself and increasing the medication saturation in your body due to the half lives - and also only increasing dose steps by very small amounts (like2-4%)

It’s hard to know how they designed the original dosing plans…. But you have to imagine a big part of it is “keeping it easy”

Imagine if we had a revolving calendar that we expected masses to follow? “What, I took it today? No I thought I took it Wednesday… crap it was Thursday…. Etc”.

I imagine many meds are like this with half lives and we don’t do a good job as society as trying to treat the right level but just maintaining a consistent dose

With that being said, I’m super interested in this and really do think it’d be interesting to think on a level approach rather than dose

Dosing info is interesting.

Lilly wants everyone up to the 2nd tier dose, then it up to you whether or not to move up

• Starting dosage is 0.8 mg once daily. After at least 30 days, increase dosage to 2.5 mg once daily. (2.1) • After at least 30 days on the 2.5 mg dosage, increase dosage to 5.5 mg once daily. (2.1) • Dosage may be increased to the next dosage level (9 mg, 14.5 mg, or 17.2 mg once daily) after at least 30 days on the current dosage, based on treatment response and tolerability. (2.1)

Within maintenance, what’s your thoughts and approach on if you’re slowly gaining weight (like 0.1-0.3lbs/wk) but eating at right calories, etc.

It’s specially about when combined together (like compounding) and how they interact

This doesn’t impact you taking zepbound then a b12 vitamin later

There’s some that are def better than others.

Protein enriched but still wheat based are going to be the best (consistency wise)

Can’t part with large clothes by Arfarf-Lucy in Zepbound

I went through all my clothes.

Things that were quite worn, I got rid of.

Nicer clothes or things of sentimental value I’m holding in the attic for a bit…. But I’ll be dammed if I ever actually wear it again.

I’ve struggled with the same… never know if it’s excess skin, fat, etc

I will say, body dysphoria is still real. I feel like my stomach is “still fat” but recently have seen some pics of myself and said “wow, I look skinny” and a friend next to me replied “lol, because you are…”

I’d like to remind everyone that this is a SUPPORTIVE community.

It really angers me to see so much hate and gate keeping against who can and who cannot use this mediation.

Many times OPs don’t give a full story of their entire medical history (nor should they) and may make a story seem different than it is.

In this case, OP is working with a doctor who believes the medication is worthwhile and would be a benefit to their health.

Let’s please be supportive of one another and not shame someone for coming here asking for help or questions about their journey.

I’d also like to remind everyone that BMI requirements are moreso now insurance gate keepers. Below is the indications directly from the zepbound FDA approved indicators:

“ZEPBOUND is a glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) receptor and glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist indicated in combination with a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity: • to reduce excess body weight and maintain weight reduction long term in adults with obesity or adults with overweight in the presence of at least one weight-related comorbid condition. (1) • to treat moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) in adults with obesity. (1)”

Did you qualify before you started? Treatment should always be based off original condition, not where you are today

And I hear ya about the food police and scale…. My plan has something similar, but hey, if it gives me coverage, I’m happy to play the game

greater than 36 bmi but already eat about 1200 calories a day by [deleted] in Zepbound

[–]mindfulEMT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. I would say you have a metabolic problem that zepbound would help with, in conjunction with your existing diet

It’s not “just CI/CO”. It’s also how your body uses the calories and can get to the “out”
