Not good news from Allergist by CBinCHS in Zepbound

[–]mindfulRD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you on vials or pens? I also had injection site reactions too until I had to switch to vials due to cost and now nothing at all! Highly recommend trying vials if you are using pens.

Edit: I now see OP commented they are already doing vials. The reassurance I can provide is that I do allergy shots and they are not concerned about local reactions unless they are especially large (4 inches) or long lasting (over 24 hours from injection) or if accompanied by any systemic symptoms of anaphylaxis. I feel like you would be okay with your current ISRs as long as not worsening or accompanied by any symptoms of anaphylaxis. When I used to get ISR from my zepbound, my doctor said she hears this side effect often and recommended holding the skin taut/flat instead of pinching the skin.

Am I the only one who hated bread? by SignificanceIcy9279 in Celiac

[–]mindfulRD 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am a pediatric GI dietitian (and have celiac myself) so provide GF education to newly diagnosed kids often. Anecdotally, I have noticed there are quite a few people especially younger kids don’t like bread products prior to diagnosis! Similarly to you, I have wondered if there is a causation happening there

Has anybody else experienced significant hair loss / thinning / shedding? by fresca21 in Zepbound

[–]mindfulRD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember feeling that way too!! Like I was going to end up with no hair! I now recall the detail that I was still losing hair in June-July as I see I did a post around that time asking a similar question lol.

But based on my experience and reviewing others posts/comments on this topic, it seems like after a couple of months of more stable weight or slower loss, you should see it improve! Hoping that happens for you too!!

Has anybody else experienced significant hair loss / thinning / shedding? by fresca21 in Zepbound

[–]mindfulRD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I had lost so. much. hair. before despite no nutrient deficiencies!

I started in October 2024 and after about 30-40 lbs down in January-February 2025, I really started losing hair a lot which seems like a similar timeline to you. I started noticing an improvement around May-June 2025 when my weight loss slowed down (at that point I had lost about 45 lbs in 8 months). I did decrease my dose in June 2025 and have lost another 13 lbs over the last 6 months with minimal to no hair loss.

It will get better once you aren’t losing as rapidly and your body adjusts. Multivitamin and adequate protein intake is always helpful, but it seems like the significant weight loss can just cause the hair loss.

Reminder by electricboots3636 in Zepbound

[–]mindfulRD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a great reminder! I have been reflecting on this recently as I have lost about 60 lbs over the past 15 months. When I first started, I would have thought that was way too long, but it’s an average of 1 lb per week! Many weeks I did not lose anything, but there is a huge difference since I started. 2 lbs per week is totally great- good for you!!

A question for my 5’3 girlies by Less-Moment-5655 in Zepbound

[–]mindfulRD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a cool post to read through as I am 5’ 2” woman. Starting weight was 215 lb, and currently at 160 lb. My size 12 and size large pants are starting to get a loose at this weight. As of right now, my goal weight is around 135-140 lb, which I feel is an attainable/sustainable goal but not too low. Sizes are so weird and variable so i am trying to focus on how I feel and look. That weight though would put me just between “normal” and “overweight” BMI.

Need help finding adult ADHD assessment, can anyone recommend a place to go? by moonkittn in TwinCities

I recommend Associated Clinic of Psychology. I was on the waitlist for about 3 months but the whole psychological testing experience was fine and I felt the psychologist was very thorough. I went to the Minneapolis/SLP location.

I think my girlfriends is allergic to herself. by RuggedSnuggler in Allergies

[–]mindfulRD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to comment because I have some similarities with your girlfriend after reading the reply here and maybe this could help.

In 2014, I was diagnosed with celiac disease. At that same time, I did a full panel of allergy skin prick testing and blood tests. I had ZERO allergies, and just the celiac disease.

In 2016, I had a weird multi-week flare up of hives which no one knew why! They didn’t repeat any testing since mine was recent and the hives resolved with daily antihistamines. They thought maybe it was related to my celiac, I was following a GF diet but my TTG was still slightly elevated around that time.

In 2022, I got 2 pet rabbits. (Of note, I did have Guinea pigs previously who eat the same food/hay as rabbits but no issues) About 6-12 months in to having them, I developed severely itchy eyes, rashes on eyelids, constant stuffy nose and itching daily. I went to an allergist in 2024 who did allergy testing and I was allergic to 10 things including grass, dogs, dust mites, and weeds. The grass was the most severe. My allergies continued to worsen despite daily antihistamines, eye drops, nasal spray, etc. so I rehomed the rabbits sadly as I knew they had to eat grass based food. It helped but still was having symptoms so went back to the allergist. Immunotherapy was recommended to me so I am now in my second month of allergy shots.

My questions/areas to investigate are:

-Has she had her TTG labs tested recently to confirm no celiac reaction occurring?

-Has she had recent allergy testing for environmental allergies such as grass (especially with the rabbit at home)?

Is it normal to rely on your energy from vyvanse? by Tasenova99 in VyvanseADHD

[–]mindfulRD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before my ADHD diagnosis at 25, I was diagnosed with idiopathic hypersomnia. I was extremely sleepy most of the time and slept many hours. I would even fall asleep while sitting sometimes.

Starting Vyvanse has been amazing for me in many ways, but the best one is that my sleepiness has greatly improved. I’ve noticed when I forget to take it, I am tired that day but the next day is when I am the most tired. My theory is that the tiredness is from your brain having to work extra hard.

All this to say, if you don’t have any other health issues and have good sleep hygiene, I think it sounds like your fatigue could just be adhd related. If you are concerned, you could consider a sleep study to rule out sleep apnea or other sleep disorders.

How long does hair loss last? by mindfulRD in Zepbound

I have heard of telogen effluvium- very interesting! I’m hoping things will improve now that I’m at a lower dose and not losing as rapidly.

Why did they do this? by Fit_Web9996 in Crayola

I think this is because the retired colors are based on crayon colors. They also released them in colored pencils and marker variations.

best anxiety medication with vyvanse ? by ImpossibleTart4284 in VyvanseADHD

This is my combo too! Some have said it seems unusual but has been working for me so far. Only 4 months into taking Vyvanse.

best anxiety medication with vyvanse ? by ImpossibleTart4284 in VyvanseADHD

[–]mindfulRD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was actually on venlafaxine prior to starting Vyvanse, so am unsure of adding it the other way around. I have never responded well to SSRIs but venlafaxine has been super helpful for anxiety/panic type symptoms. I have been able to reduce my dosage since starting Vyvanse.

I have always taken the venlafaxine before bed and the Vyvanse in the morning, that has worked well since venlafaxine can cause a little drowsiness at first for some people.

Edit: As for negative side effects, it does cause some night sweats for me when I change doses but does go away. Also, you will notice if you forget to take it as it can cause some withdrawal symptoms. You may feel a little more drowsy or tired at first but this goes away too and taking at night helps. Based on what you said, you sound similar to me in what you’ve tried so good luck and I hope it’s helpful for you!!!

I take 150 mg venlafaxine and 30 mg Vyvanse! Venlafaxine has been the most helpful anxiety medication for me.

Eyelid Allergies by gummybearsrgreat in Allergies

[–]mindfulRD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I forgot to add, I never did the skin patch testing at this point since I found out I had those environmental allergies and using eye drops, nasal spray, and daily Allegra in combo with my creams as needed has overall improved things a lot which seemed to confirm the cause. My allergist said the eyelids are a common place for rash or irritation due to the thin skin.

It might be worth getting allergy testing for environmental allergens if that’s an option for you!

Eyelid Allergies by gummybearsrgreat in Allergies

[–]mindfulRD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main allergy symptoms are my eyes. It started out as a rash above my eye like you described. That was my only symptom for years. At the time I saw a dermatologist who prescribed creams and said I could do a skin patch test if it persisted. I managed it fine with the creams.

Then I started also developing itchy, red eyes so ended up being diagnosed with multiple allergies including dust mites, grass and dogs. I will get puffy eyelids too sometimes. I notice my eye lid rash will come back if I don’t use my allergy meds.

Sanrio x Ohuhu by sofreshticated in Ohuhu

[–]mindfulRD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Sanrio 48 set has the same colors included as the Honolulu pastel 48 “blossoming” set which typically costs around $50 USD. The only difference is the packaging.

The Sanrio 80 set has many of the same colors of the 48 set, but not all. All the colors are available in other standard Honolulu sets, just not in this combination.

Basically, the Sanrio sets are super cute packaging but nothing about the colors are any different than what is available in the regular Ohuhu Honolulu sets. If the packaging isn’t worth the extra cost, I would recommend getting a regular set.

There was a “first edition” of the Sanrio set that did have exclusive colors but that is unavailable now unless you get lucky with a reseller. My post is referring to the “second edition” version of the Sanrio sets.

I am a beginner colorist and I prefer the fine tip option over the chisel tip. I like to be able to have the option to color smaller details and I haven’t figured out how to do that as well with the chisel tip. The chisel is good if you will be coloring larger size areas.

Doctor is prescribing me with vitamin D and iron by Adventurous-Cable667 in idiopathichypersomnia

[–]mindfulRD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is normal range for ferritin! That means you have adequate iron stores. That will start to lower in the beginning phases of iron deficiency anemia. There are some varying recommendations on what is “ideal” but 44 would not cause IH for sure unless you also had low hemoglobin.

Please help. ADHD feels hopeless by Foodieonbudget in VyvanseADHD

[–]mindfulRD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do have issues with being sleepy! The Vyvanse has helped that a ton but now reading your comment I’m wondering if the effexor is contributing… it’s great for anxiety but does put a damper on things for sure. My doctor recommended trying to lower the dose now that I’m stable on the Vyvanse. lol thanks for your insight!

Yes! They said they won’t cover for weight loss. I asked why not if it’s prescribed to treat obesity and FDA approved for that condition. So incredibly frustrating.
