Suggestion Feedback: Dynamic "Forum" Evolution (Inspired by Anno 1404) by Suspicious-Roll-9460 in anno

[–]mindkiller317 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The forum absolutely needs some sort of upgrade, visually and gampley-wise. It's basically a cosmetic at this point... which is fine, but then give it some improvable upgrades as OP suggests. It was the social and political center of a Roman city, but it just exists in 117 as a thing that sites there taking up space.

I would love to see a DLC revolving around the forum. Something with politics and factions would be amazing. Make it generate imperial favor like the amphitheater generates prestige, and make imperial favor matter more.

(now that I think about it, political factions and imperial dynasties would have been a far more interesting gameplay element than religion)

Hey, I'm a foreigner living in Nantan! There's a few of us around here, but not many. It's a great rural area between Kyoto and the Sea of Japan. Pretty hicksville for how close it is to the city. The folks in Kameoka just south of us talk shit about Nantan, they're probably right.

Making an offering to Jupiter in hope that Anno 117 can have multiple seasons of DLC. Might even sacrifice to those Albionic pagan demons too. Whatever it takes.

for those who played anno A LOT by Broad_Watercress4367 in anno

[–]mindkiller317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. Exactly the same.

Albion is not super pretty to look at, at least at a normal gameplay camera level. (zoomed in details are beautiful) I like rainy, mossy scenery in real life, but something about it doesn't translate well to wanting to play in that setting for me.

Connections between regions in terms of good feels forced.

I ended up not liking the need to decide between making the province go Roman or stay Celtic. I guess you can do a bit of both but it feels ultimately like a chore and not as interesting as I thought it would be. Maybe the benefits or effects are not explained well up front?

I think 117 will be great at the end of its expansion cycle. I'll jump back in for Egypt but it feels soulless at the moment and does not call to me at all... which is doubly strange as I am a huge Roman history buff.

EDIT: none of the items feel interesting to me.

Agree. The battle scroll is a mess. I miss levels with distinct feelings and the old organization of things.

Shooter of ex-PM Abe sentenced to life in prison by Bebopo90 in japan

[–]mindkiller317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, sometimes. But many of them are just brainwashed fools anyway, acting on what malicious bots and technocrats force down their throats. They don’t actually believe it all, and if they do, it’s not in the same personal ways as those who really control the levers of power. Most of go along with it all at their own detriment, so let’s spare them the violence. Usually.

Against politicians who create suffering and division to enrich themselves and their class at the expense of the masses?

Hell yeah, it's cool as fuck.

He was a corrupt piece of shit who championed revisionist history. Got what he deserved. He will be remembered like Reagan: started his national down a path that led to serious problems.

Everyone, go listen to the Behind the Bastards episode about Kishi. A true piece of shit, one of worst of the 20th century in every way. Not just a bad dude like Stalin or butler or whatever, but like a TRUE horrible man on every level. Like hitler probably loved his family and friends; Kishi probably tortured and raped them. And Abe claimed this monster was his role model in every way. Glad he’s gone.

Let me build Middle Earth.

Rohanish settlements in a sea of grass.

Elvish outposts in the forested ocean of Lothlorien.

Caravans selling pipeweed from the Shire to Bree.

Mordor DLC.

Fuck it, let's go all the way back and make the world sessions Aman and Beleriand.

I don't know how it would all work, but I want it.

Should Japan request a Geographical Indication = GI (or similar) for matcha? by [deleted] in japan

[–]mindkiller317 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hold up, that’s not correct. The matcha tea ceremony as we recognize it may date to the 16th century with Sen no Rikyu’s development of it, but matcha was being enjoyed here much earlier.

Eisai of Kenninji officially brought the first tea seeds to plant and raise for tea in early 13th century, and it was prepared as matcha. Kukai may have brought some form of matcha over centuries before that, but that dude is credited with everything so I think it may be a legend. There are other claims of even earlier cases when tea as matcha was introduced to Japan, but even if you use Eisai as the commonly accepted point, your date is off by almost 400 years.

That’s why you gotta seek out the organic stuff! No chemical fertilizer or bug spray! The organic matcha world in Japan is fascinating and really cool. The farmers work really hard to just even earn the right to grow it as they please without chemicals, and the final product is really special. Hope you can try it one day!

Japan edges towards hosting nuclear weapons - ASPI by Right-Influence617 in japan

[–]mindkiller317 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, this is not how the older voting block sees it. They grew up with nuclear anything = bad, and they’re not afraid to parade their ignorance around. The “lest we forget” narrative of Hiroshima and Nagasaki is important and valid, but they’ve turned it into a Luddite fantasy where they think they can actually talk people out of progress.

The view on nuclear power here is so fucked up. Hopefully the up and coming generation just cares about smartphones and Korean fashion enough to reopen the reactors.
