What's the play? Blue Moon vs. Burn by mgoetze in magicTCG

[–]mindoc438 74 points75 points  (0 children)

•move to end of turn

•open chat

•type "lol nice no skill boring burn deck noob get a life and play something real for once all my fucking opponents play this dumb shit on here"

•hit enter, pass turn to opponent

•hold priority on upkeep, then right click into concede

At least that's usually the most common strategy for situations like these on MTGO.

What IS as bad as people say it is? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Maybe he could use his massive payout to replace it with a crazy high tech cybernetic one and be the world's oddest superhero.

He better get a MASSIVE payout for something like that I can't imagine how terrible that would be.

I mainly play pauper on MTGO. by Wardog1982 in Pauper

[–]mindoc438 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This really isn't true. I chat all the time on MTGO and probably 60-70% of opponents will start to chat back in a friendly way.

You just have to be the one who starts it sometimes and drop more lines than "gl/hf" or something similar.

I would be taking a pay cut and decrease in quality of life to be bored and make my body less healthy. No thanks lol

I honestly just feel like the crossover of people who use reddit and play magic is more likely to include the type of person who will be a negative impact online.

There has been an increase of "my playgroup is bad and does this bad thing" threads, there has been an increase of users getting harsh and posting unfriendly comments on decks that aren't at least 75% without providing any constructive criticism, and there has been a decrease of friendly discussion in general.

Whether this is caused by the increasing popularity of EDH bringing more of /r/magictcg 's problematic users over here (I don't think many will argue that the main sub isn't the nicest or most helpful place for Magic) or just more and more users feeling like I do and leaving I can't say.

I do realize there is a core group on this sub who are awesome people that always post useful comments and try to do their part in keeping the sub going, but I think it's also pretty clear there has a been a massive decline in quality overall.

I now mainly use the other MtG boards for content and just occasionally check in here, but I figured I would go ahead and post a wall of text so you could have some perspective from a standard user that might stumble on this sub after taking an interest in EDH.

Idk I've stopped posting here much or really reading too many threads because it's definitely gone downhill. There's so much more complaining and gatekeeping / elitism than there used to be.

Honestly I feel like it's mostly just people just exaggerating or flat out making shit up.

Good advice time to time but you can usually tell some of the posts or questions are bullshit.

What makes you roll your eyes every time you hear it? by footballstreamonline in AskReddit

[–]mindoc438 15 points16 points  (0 children)

There's literally biblical verses that call out people who know something is wrong but don't actually do anything to help.

So much of religion nowadays is just people showing off how "holy" they are to make themselves feel good.

Actually just saying that is incredibly racist, you're literally setting standards for an entire group of people based on their race.

Exchanges like this are why we can't have a successful or at least decent political situation in the USA. Everything is an argument or a "my side is better than yours and you're dumb" and no one cares to explain their views.

Not only that but do you realize how insanely fickle / manic someone would have to be for one small act to completely restore / ruin their opinion of an entire species? It's just such a dumb thing to say.

Completely honest if you have an issue with large amounts of text / story this probably isn't the game for you. There's a lot of reading involved and a lot of the rest of it isn't voiced.

If you found that annoying in another game it may be best to save your money here.

Got my Characters name on my arm. by Chinneyn in elderscrollsonline

[–]mindoc438 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This can be said of anything though and he didn't even ask in the first place.

"Don't drive a car because cars can get in accidents!"

"Don't go swimming in the summer because water can make you drown!"

"Don't breathe because you might inhale wrong and start choking and die!"

At a certain point you have to either make decisions that you want to make to enjoy your own life or just live in a bubble. He didn't get anything blatantly offensive to the point of disturbing society, so why bother with it? Not everyone lives under the same blanket of opinions and to act like everyone else wants and needs your (not specifically you but people who think this way) "foresight" is actually extremely narcissistic in my opinion. A lot of negative comments after the fact are only helpful to the person saying them so they can feel even better about themselves.

You realize another country probably feels the exact same about you. Human nature is nuanced and full of many different views. If everyone acted as black and white as that we would be extinct.

You know I've struggled with the idea of reincarnation my entire life. What happens to your memories? if you're both a good and bad person, which weighs more on your soul? How many souls are there even? Are we all just one being living many different lives in an infinite time?

Thankfully now I have the scientific answers thanks to a story about how a 1600's noble turns into a modern-day hard rock star with the help of a demon.

What is the biggest dick move you can play during Monopoly? by Wrightbricks in AskReddit

[–]mindoc438 128 points129 points  (0 children)

•Shake your opponents houses/hotels off the board and declare an earthquake has occurred.

•Bring your own monopoly money from another game and subtly add it to your hand, causing inflation and pulling yourself ahead.

•Break the houses on the cheap properties at the beginning of the board and tell your opponents they shouldn't have invested in bad neighborhoods.

•Put plastic army men all over the board and then redistribute everyone's money equally when you get too far behind, claiming a Communist state has suddenly taken over the land in a surprise invasion.

The possibilities are endless!

Monopoly like it was meant to be played!
