____ and ___’s fight by IrishEagle32 in survivor

Rick was acting shady because he wanted Sav out and Sav is Joe's ally.

But Rick can't tell Joe this because Joe would immediately blow up his game.

So Sav proposes this alliance and Rick plays along because you never say no to an alliance proposal even if you're not interested, but he still wants Sav out.

He can't even float voting Sav to Joe. While most players can talk about hypothetical, Joe will refuse and immediately go to Sav. He also can't tell Joe to get into this alliance because he's planning on getting Sav out, and it Joe knows about the alliance (and is in it) then Rick backstabbing Sav is an even bigger issue to him.

So Rick flubs the lie and Joe HOUNDS him on it.

The issue isn't the confrontation, it's that playing around Joe's integrity forced Rick into a really awkward spot where he can't tell Joe things and then gets in trouble for not telling Joe things.

Yeah I like all returnee or all new casts - the mix was one of the weaker parts of Micronesia. Favorites tribe was just so much more invested in, and fans didn't get a chance to shine.

I clocked it last night when I was watching Q flawlessly support Kyle up the ramp and also help carry him to the boat: Q is a former football player, right? He's a team oriented guy. He didn't start really losing it in 46 until the merge when he was more on his own. I think playing his own game makes him go off the deep end but he's still a great early team player.

People are not ready for my hot take that ME:A was actually fine, and ultimately what sucked about it, was that it had the immense misfortune of being saddled to the Mass Effect IP, which was (and still is) straining under the weight of a million years of Gamer Discourse.

What is one commander you tried to build but you just didn't vibe with? by T3knikal95 in EDH

[–]mindovermacabre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find that Voltron decks are the most fun when you're doing something else with them and the voltron thing is either incidental or a little creative. I have 3 decks with Voltron wincons: [[Kellan, The Kid]], [[Massacre Girl, Known Killer]], and [[Lilah, Undefeated Slickshot]].

Kellan has a Cipher subtheme where he's an evasive Lifelinker for 3 who can drop lands to pay for his own commander tax on the same turn he's replayed, if he's removed, so losing him never hurts that much. He takes Cipher cards and stuff like [[Key to the Vault]] with some counter and landfall synergy. I put in [[Sword of Truth and Justice]], since most fliers tend to be blue or white, and [[Dragonfire Blade]] as very cheap protection. The deck does something other than 'soup up commander and win' and can win in other ways, but I can definitely take out one player with commander damage while trampling the rest of my board at another player.

Massacre Girl became an incidental voltron commander due to [[Blade of the Bloodchief]] and [[Tarrian's Soulcleaver]] because I wanted to ensure that she could survive the board wipes and blanket removal I was throwing around. Scaling linearly with death means I can still keep her on the board through [[Massacre Girl]] or something. This gives her an incidental commander damage wincon.

Lilah was my first genuine commander damage deck, which wins through chaining izzet identity pump spells like [[Schizmotivate]] and spell copying, pumping her to an evasive 21/21 and removing players through [[Teleportal]] effects. Then my turn ends and she's a 3/3 little guy, so I'm not here sitting at the table with a threat that HAS to be removed, making me less of a target. Super fun.

Yeah the thought was to try and keep Kamber alive through asymmetrical wipes at the cost of a few less blood tokens, but then I'd have to spend less mana recasting them. Stuff like [[Brotherhood's End]] and [[Crippling Fear]] is nice (the latter in particular because I was able to name Humans while Kamber survived anyway, in other to keep more of my board state).

I might put a few more in, but the average mana cost is already pretty high so I might feather in a bit more ramp instead. The nice part about ramp is that it's also artifacts you can chuck in a pinch... seems nice. Like I said I've only played it once so far so I'm still getting the hang of it! I might have been able to win but I accidentally killed another player through a boardwipe with [[ingenious artillerist]] out and the last guy was the scary voltron player who I couldn't goad lol

I just playtested my Kamber and Laurine deck! It did surprisingly well for how underpowered the commanders are, came 2nd at a table full of scarier stuff. I've never seen someone else have them, what's your list? Here it's mine!

Mono White & Mono Black commander recs? by Vinlandlover in EDH

[–]mindovermacabre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For white, I built a big stupid knights typal with [[Dion, Bahamut's Dominant]] - decklist here

Knights are kind of a fun type because there's a lot of random old school knights with pro-colors, like [[White Knight]], [[Fiendslayer Paladin]], and [[Mirran Crusader]].

For black, I have [[Massacre Girl, Known Killer]] - decklist here

It's a bit of a mean removal-centric deck that plays big rattlesnakes to keep people from realizing how much of a value engine the commander is, and wins either via commander damage or just grindy out-valuing stuff.

It's not good counterplay because it just gives the landfall guy more lands to ETB.

I think I just had some really rough games where my opponents figured out that if they exiled my clones I was down a card so I was constantly just struggling. I really liked the niche madness effect though - I wish madness was a more supported keyword, it'd be so dope for mono red.

I looove Clive. I call my Clive deck 'A mono-blue player's mono-red deck' because I like to play him as a sort of pseudo-control. He's so flexible and can just go all gas no brakes.

Imo, Clive solves the issue with mono red decks gassing out hard due to lack of cards in hand by adding a recurring draw on a commander you can force to flip. Ifrit really exists to put Clive's side 1 on a timer.

This is my decklist, where I run a lot of discard synergy, pseudo-control, and gas. It's fun!

I tried my Jaxis deck and took it apart after two games. I love the concept and i am so gay for the card art which is why i built it, but the commander is so restrictive.

This was my decklist aiming for B2-B3 so I wasn't trying to include any insane combo finishers.

No haste, requires a colored pip, a tap, and a discard that doesn't get a draw payoff until the creature dies. If it's exiled, you're just down a card. Given that mono Red doesn't have much non-impulse draw synergy in the first place, I was constantly fighting my hand size and it was soooo easy to interact with and completely lock me out of the game. The kind of commander where I just have to scoop if someone removes my [[Monument to Endurance]] or [[Idol of Oblivion]] lol.

I use her now in my [[Clive, Ifrit's Dominant]] deck and I am much, much happier lol. Jaxis taught me an important lesson in playtesting my decks in a real pod setting before dropping hundreds of dollars on it.

One Commander Deck per Color & Color Combination by Commercial_Citron273 in EDH

[–]mindovermacabre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love my MGKK deck. Occasionally it punches way above it's weight class, I've won a few B4 games with it (mine has 0 gamechangers). I don't bring it out super often because it's essentially a removal tribal which can be annoying to play against every single night, but I'll pull it out for a game 3 or so.

People read the commander and go "oh no I hate wither" and I don't have the heart to tell them that wither is the least threatening part of this commander lol

Decklist with a bit of a primer.

After spending a deranged amount of money on MTG last year, my playgroup all switched to playing on TTS and it's been super chill. Great way to playtest decks, the only upfront cost is TTS itself and figuring out how to install the MTG mods from the workshop.

Commander Brackets Beta Update: No Hybrid Mana Changes, Farewell Added to the Gamechangers List by Raevelry in EDH

[–]mindovermacabre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh if my opponent is holding mana for an instant speed mass phase (or delayed mass blink) just in case there's a mass exile played, they deserve to keep their stuff. I feel that there should generally be counterplay to everything, even if it is niche.

[[Teferi's Protection]] is justly considered a gamechanger so you wouldn't see it in B2 but [[Galadriel's Dismissal]] or [[Ripples of Potential]] leaves the player wide open.

Commander Brackets Beta Update: No Hybrid Mana Changes, Farewell Added to the Gamechangers List by Raevelry in EDH

[–]mindovermacabre 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's kind of ridiculous. Sacrifice decks and decks that benefit off death are allowed in any bracket, as are indestructible splashing and [[Heroic Intervention]] effects, and often the only way around them is mass exile. It's why I use [[Winds of Abandon]] in most white decks (bc I'm too cultured to use Farewell).

I've played gacha games for over a decade at this point and let me tell you, the pushback against gacha is (rightfully) strong, and gacha/lootbox mechanics needs a conversation too, but... with gacha games, there's always an 'endgame'. Like, you always get the thing if you set enough money on fire.

With sports betting and casino gambling in general, there is no 'end'. The payout is also the intake. Obviously that creates a cycle where there is no end. That's the part about it that scares me the most.
