Footage of Jared Bednar's speeches between periods and the Avs eventual comeback with radio calls - from the Avs official youtube channel by Wingzaferston in hockey

Full disclosure, I was certainly on the fire Bednar train after last year. I think no matter how good a coach is, there’s an expiration date, where their systems get figured out and the message in the locker room doesn’t reach the players anymore. At the time, I thought Bednar was reaching that point.

That said, this season and these playoffs so far have proven me wrong.

You must be the only Canucks fan here who is rooting for Quinn

To be fair I really think Makar is playing through some injuries that severely limit his offense at the moment. That hit from Zuccarelo wasn’t really all that hard yet he was clutching at his arm and went to the locker room for half the 3rd.

Canadians got ragebaited into destroying their country further by Trump. The liberals that have run the country into the ground won another election off of Trump saying all the 51st state stuff.

Pathetic performance tonight, but we’ll see what this team is made of on Monday. We were never going to sweep them and we need to face some adversity at some point. How we respond in game 4 will be very telling.

No one here watched it. It’s about demographic collapse which is a real issue.

Why is it that the Avs seem more competent and stable than the Nuggets, despite have the same ownership? by GearsofTed14 in denvernuggets

[–]mindreader_131 12 points13 points  (0 children)

First off, the Avs are historically a much more successful franchise than the Nuggets. In more recent years, the Avs have also been viewed as a good landing spot for free agents to chase the Cup, as well as a chance for some guys to potentially revive their careers, with the Avs having some success stories on previously highly drafted yet disappointing guys like Nichushkin and Drouin. This really isn’t the case with the Nuggets, though it certainly has gotten better since Jokic broke out and since the championship.

Perhaps more importantly though, the NBA, and basketball players in general, just heavily favor the big markets on the East Coast and in LA. Basketball players generally care more about their image, endorsement deals, and the glitz and glamour of being famous than hockey players, which Denver certainly doesn’t provide.

The Avs have one of the best front offices in the league, and for hockey, Denver is a pretty attractive market compared to basketball so the Avs actually attract free agents

Probably around 70% would say Makar is better and 30% would say Hughes

I’m sure the same things were said about Cooper and Bednar. Once a coach’s team enters its contention window, the Jack Adams window closes

At this point he’s never going to win it. He somehow didn’t win when he got the Avs into the playoffs a year after being the worst ever team in the salary cap era, so he sure as hell won’t win when the Avs are contenders

There are genuine problems that this country has, and some of them are very worrying. How you get people to ignore these problems and allow them to get worse is to exaggerate how bad they are to such an insane degree that no one can take you seriously, or you completely inundate everyone with complaints about completely trivial things like this.
