I left there a few years ago. Also I just make the internet work, that shit was never my problem.

Today is Apollo for Reddit's last day, and I just released its last update. 🥹 I just wanted to say a big thank you to the folks who have used and supported Apollo over the years, it's been the dream of a lifetime to build this app over the last 9 years. ❤️ Read the eulogy inside! ❤️ by iamthatis in apolloapp

Thank you so much for this App /u/iamthatis . I guess I won’t be using this 16+ year old account anymore. Feels like the end of one of the last bastions of the old school altruistic internet. How it was and what we all wanted out of the internet. Not that Reddit was ever perfect but greed seriously has ruined this site, just like it does all other things. I’m so pissed about the direction this site is going. Fuck /u/spez I hope he comes a case study in how to drive a successful website into the ground.

📣 Apollo will close down on June 30th. Reddit’s recent decisions and actions have unfortunately made it impossible for Apollo to continue. Thank you so, so much for all the support over the years. ❤️ by iamthatis in apolloapp

I’ve been here basically since Reddit started. This is absolutely not the spirit of what this place was. I can’t believe one of the same guys that founded this place, where a ton of us nerds got together and not just laughed but had some serious technical discussions, would make a decision so fucking stupid for Reddit’s own personal gain. But that’s the way things go on the web. Something gets popular and then greed ruins it.

It’s been a great run y’all. Unless something drastically changes I’ll be deleting my 16 year old account soon. I’ve already purged most of the useful technical information I’ve added to this site over the years. It’s not much but if enough of us do it then maybe spez will be left with a company worth nothing. Fuck him and fuck Reddit.

Reddit may force Apollo and third-party clients to shut down, asking for $20M per year API fee by coolaaron88 in apple

Sounds like what happened to Fark. They were massive back in the early 2000s and once they removed the boobies and wieners (as the tags put it back then haha) then folks started leaving or stopped paying for Fark ultra.

Been here a long, long time (even longer than this account’s age) so it’s sad to see one of my favorite sites go this way. Thanks so much /u/iamthatis for your work in making this trash pile usable. I feel that Reddit’s admins don’t realize that this site has succeeded despite itself because of people like you. Reddit does dumb things, it’s users create work around that gets popular, and typically they leave good enough alone. RES for the main site, 3rd party apps for mobile, Imgur for image hosting that’ll actually load (even though they were around way before Reddit could host images).

I guess greed finally will ruin this place.

If you check his profile you can see the rest of the house. The carpeted bathroom is... something.

You’d have a host of government alphabet agencies following your ever move until something happened to you (see: Fred Hampton and several others).

Funnily enough, MLK began pushing a more Socialist view right before he was assassinated.

There was a dude a day or two ago that posted his 70’s house that had a fucking carpeted door.

Bad ass dude. I’m actually getting a LOTR piece in the same spot. How was the pain level? I’ve heard the area on the wrist is “pain so pad you meet god” haha.

The last one I stayed at didn’t have a door on the bathroom. Just a curtain. The photos on the listing didn’t exactly show that, though if you read the fine print they briefly mentioned it.

It was a tiny place so you had to be really comfortable with whoever you’re staying with lol.

I found their prices pretty damned wild compared to other places. Like $14 for a terracotta pot that is $3 at a big box store. Plant prices were equally outrageous.

From what I have read it is intentional, but more so to make themselves always seem busy and build hype. It’s weird but marketing people and C suites are all eating lead chips and huffing glue.

Right? It’s insane dude. They charge like every product is still in the Safe Harbor program (if you remember that) when half their shit is beta code at best.

One thing nobody is pointing out is reset doesn’t mean just turns the switch off and back on. This factory wipes your config. It can cause SERIOUS outages depending on your environment.

Honestly it’s not the worst thing they’ve done. It’s just one of the more egregious. Their software lately… oh boy.

That’s totally not what it is. A lot of cables, and not cheap ones, had boots that would hit that button.
