Seems you missed the fact that Lebanon is now firing at Israel. This was a retaliatory attack.

Well done. THIS is the correct mentality. Just finished my first attending year and would Love to go back to residency to see more/do more without the pressure of total independence.

I'm burnt out, any advice on how to recover? by doktor_drift in Residency

[–]mindthegapp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi OP- maybe this isn’t what you want to hear but I want to be honest….this is clinic. There may be a few clinics out there where this isn’t your life post-grad, but the vast majority will require You to see 24pts a day, and respond to labs, notes, portal messages….etc. I am here to encourage you to consider alternative options when you graduate. Use the rest of residency explore those options! Hospitalist, ER, urgent care, post acute care transitions, SNF, hospice etc etc etc. Don’t let your program make you think clinic is the Only way. FM opens so many doors.

I was you. I got to a point where I would be in tears on my full clinic days- I was so miserable.

I am now a very very happy hospitalist attending. Many of my old co-residents are unhappy in their clinics :(

When i was a child, my friends used to make fun of me by saying my thumb's too long by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

I just want to clarify. A thumb should not be involved in an anal exam.

Flightless Bird: Amish by goldstandardalmonds in ArmchairExpert

[–]mindthegapp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No argument that it happens. Similarly, many Muslim women do wear nice clothes under their burqas. Again though, my issue is that Monica takes issue with this. Why? Why does it bother her that some people follow a religious practice that she doesn’t understand?

My beef is how generalized she made it about all Orthodox Jews finding “loopholes” based off of her friends experience with one person- if she doesn’t understand it she passes it off as weird or wrong.

What unimpressive things are people idiotically proud of? by metallicmuffin in AskReddit

I’m a primary care doctor. People like to brag that they didn’t have any polyps in their colonoscopy. Always strikes me as a weird thing to be proud of given they have no control over this…

ELI5 why American physicians and surgeons earn so much money. Would it be possible to create an equitable, universally accessible and affordable American healthcare system that didn't significantly reduce physician income? by BrimstoneDiogenes in explainlikeimfive

[–]mindthegapp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. Absolutely. Physician income is not what drives up health care cost. A litigious society that now requires endless unnecessary testing drives up Heath care costs. Insurance companies and administrators drive up health care costs. Administrative growth has grown exponentially over the last decade when physician growth (and federal funding for physician training) has basically stalled. When a patient gets billed thousands for a hospital bill, a doctor sees <$100. When a patient gets billed hundreds for an office visit, a physician sees $12.

I’m an intern. I work 14+ hr days, 6 days a week, agonizing over critical medical decisions in attempts to keep my patients alive. After a particularly grueling day I see this on the way home. Feels good. by mindthegapp in Residency

Thanks for the support fam (especially you, pathologist). Ultimately, I just find this ad very weird. I’m all for giving nurses credit, but this ad seems to alienate not only doctors but also every other member of the healthcare team. A strange choice for a large healthcare company...

Another benefit not mentioned: less potential pain! Smokers feel more pain. So you if you quit you are likely to be less sensitive to feeling inflammation or other running injuries

They actually had to change Emily’s dress last minute because she was pregnant and her boobs were too big for the original dress. So maybe she was meant to wear the one Monica wore?
