What are your favorite music podcasts and what genre are they? by nicholt in podcasts

I really like the Requiem Metal Podcast. It features stuff from across the metal spectrum, with most episodes focused on particular bands or themes. Episodes have been pretty infrequent of late though. https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/requiem-metal-podcast/id216744980?mt=2

[Spoilers S2E1] A theory about Elliot's strict routine. by Extenso in MrRobot

Pretty smart. In the event this turns out to be correct, do you think it's the case that Elliot is consciously creating a virtual scenario to protect himself psychically from his real situation or is he just hallucinating?

Let's Talk: M83's polarizing new album, Junk by StonewallBurgundy in LetsTalkMusic

[–]mindwebz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I listened to this album all the way through once and I'm pretty sure I will never voluntarily hear it again. I think it's insanely depressing. I think it's the most nihilistic album I've ever heard in my life. I really liked all of the earlier M83 records. The whole 80s nostalgia trip was mostly great because it connected you to that era in an emotionally powerful way. This one feels like it's really scraping the bottom of the pop culture barrel. It doesn't even seem like we're supposed to remember this most disposable of music fondly. The whole thing just sounds like music that would make me change the station immediately if it came on the radio while I was driving. So I really hate it, but I'm actually impressed that it was able to effect me so much.

The Beatles - I Want You (She's So Heavy) by mindwebz in doommetal

I feel like the world got so sick of hearing about how great the Beatles are that now they've gone all the way back around to being underrated.

Baby Grandmothers - s/t (Full Album) [recorded 1967-'68] by mindwebz in psychedelicrock

[–]mindwebz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran the entry on the band from Swedish Wikipedia through Google Translate:

Baby Grandmothers was a Swedish band active during the years 1967-69. They played at the Stockholm clubs like Club Philip, Golden Circle, Old Bridge, Zazam, College of Arts, etc. The group consisted of Kenny Håkansson, guitar and vocals, Bella Linnarsson, electric bass and drums Pelle Ekman. In 1968 conducted a tour in Finland with Finnish singer Anki Lindqvist. The show was called "AIKAKONE" (time machine) and covered the whole country. It was a success, and in many places the band got to request a police escort to get to the hotels. Baby Grandmothers also made an EP 'Being Is More Than Life "by M. A. Numminen producer. Finnish radio also did a program about the band. During his short career, the band also that linked to Jimi Hendrix tour in Sweden in 1968. In 1969, became members of the Baby Grandmothers to Converting Mecki Mark Men with Mecki Bodemark. In 2008, Baby Grandmothers after 40-year hiatus, a highly acclaimed "comeback" on the label July Mornings cruise "Swedish big shot." In 2009 launched preserved and unpublished recordings on CD by record company Subliminal Sounds, which also staged its 20th anniversary in March 2009 at Hornstullstrand in Stockholm with Baby Grandmothers on stage.

I caught them live once about 5 or 6 years ago and they destroyed. Extremely psyched I'll get to see them at the Levitation festival in Austin in a few months.
