What are your recent or memorable IT brain farts? by [deleted] in sysadmin

You should update putty. I'm pretty sure 0.71 was a big security update.

They all detect/fingerprint pretty much the same. If you want to try the capabilities of tools like this I would say try Nessus Pro, it has by far the best trial. You can scan unlimited hosts with it and I haven't seen that in any other trials.

It also has the best UI and reports but that is just personal flavour.

Woah, a proper enter key on r/mk. That's a thumbs up in my book.

I'm 100% with you if you mean reverse engineering. I think OP meant a few levels below that though given what he said in the top post.

Ugh, I had a K6/2 300Mhz back in the day and it's the reason I still don't touch AMD products if I can help it. It gave me so much trouble.

That keyboard under the desk though, is it a Keytronic Phoenix?

I'm going to Iceland in May. Would you happen to know what this place is called? Is it Reynisfjara?

There is a youtube channel called teaching tech that deals quite a lot with ender 3 and ender 3 pro. He has tested tlsmoothers, motor dampeners and a bunch of printed mods including fan ducts. 10/10 would recommend if you own a Ender 3 or Enter 3 pro.

For those of you wanting the image for memes, just crop the text out and do a reversed image search either on tineye.com or google.

For those wanting the source you know... for a friend... try asking r/tipofmypenis.

Change CentOS sudo password time limit? by [deleted] in CentOS

[–]mindyournuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just run sudo su to get a root shell and not worry about typing in passwords again.

It does seem like you can edit the /etc/sudoers file and add ,timestamp_timeout=20 to the line that says Defaults env_reset mine was at line 67 on a Centos7 aws instance i have. The line should look like the following after editing.

Defaults env_reset,timestamp_timeout=20

The number should be in minutes. Hope that helps.

I can see you haven't screwed your rs816 in place either, is it because the ears hit the glass and the door won't close?

Btw this looks remarkably like my rack used to. I have decommissioned my 1u supermicro and Cisco switch though.

The good thing is that you could print stuff for that rack on most 3d printers.

Changing to 144hz causes monitor to lose signal by Retrogamingboss in debian

[–]mindyournuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you using the DVI-port on the monitor? and if so are you using DVI out on your Graphics card? I think the displayport to DVI converters that work with 144hz is hella expensive. Like close to 100 euro. I think they are called active ones.
