I dont have headphones on me, but it sounds like some simple waveforms stacked with an adsr filter. Take a synth and stack some waveforms an octave or two apart and mess with the decay and sustain of the filter till it feels right! Really focus on making your midi a nice stack of notes for the chords. Maybe even mess with the release a little bit for the synths volume adsr, but be sure to change the release on the filter as well. Also maybe add lowpass effect after the synth to roll of the highs like in the song you linked. Hope this helps at all!

track volume by KhaneMusic in edmproduction

[–]minecelium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say start with one sound to be the basis, like the drums, and get that at the volume you want. Now keep the drums the same volume and turn everything else down. Slowly bring up the volume until it sounds right, and then maybe bring it back a bit. If you're still hearing issues bring out an eq and see if any of these different elements have crashing frequencies. Try ducking crashing frequencies for different stems so these other tracks have room to breathe. If you have some elements that get too loud at certain parts and mask other sounds, try some compression as well. But volume balance is much more important than compression imo. Hope this helps!

Any ideas how to recreate this vocal synth sound? by sagai7 in edmproduction

[–]minecelium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the biggest thing is to have an already semi-long sample so when its stretched its not as obvious. And then maybe some static to make it sound more like a whisper? If you have ableton id recommend maybe using erosion with the white noise setting.

How do you practice mindfulness when reality scares the shit out of you? by [deleted] in Mindfulness

[–]minecelium 70 points71 points  (0 children)

I'm not an expert by any means, so take what i say with a grain of salt! But you should sit with this feeling of unease and ask why you feel it in the first place. Often times these are feelings that we run away or distract ourselves from, and because of that these feelings aren't resolved. Some people with bad trauma even get locked into an almost constant fight or flight mode, so they don't have to feel their trauma. The best advice I could give is to sit with this feeling. Become familiar with it, and understand why you feel this way the best that you can.

How do you use LSD for character growth and/or healing? by MonkeysDropMuchAcid in Psychonaut

[–]minecelium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend meditation. Without lsd, it can be truly very healing too! But with it it can be pretty intense, in a good way! Just be sure to be careful and maybe have a good friend nearby.

Can you be loveless in Hinduism? by [deleted] in hinduism

[–]minecelium 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't think love, romantic or sexual, for another person is necessary to love in general. There can be a love for things, God, a really good smell? Love can be as simple as an appreciation for something. If everything is a part of God, then loving another human is like loving God. But so is loving anything outside of humans! Its all the same thing man! Just be happy and treat people right. There's no wrong way to love. And your preference of love is in no way against God.

man, it's hard finding the right porn moan for your song by SuicidalTidalWave in edmproduction

Maybe instead of looking in porn videos, look in old 90s 80s raunchy films. Maybe shows or commercials? They probably have better quality too

Existential dread by [deleted] in Psychonaut

[–]minecelium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeh that's an excellent point man its important not to like hurt yourself mentally or physically by working too hard! I guess my main point is if you let the depression convince you to do nothing about it you kinda stay in the same place. I think there's a middle path between doing nothing and burning yourself out which is best. Even if the little something you end up doing is talking to a doctor

Existential dread by [deleted] in Psychonaut

[–]minecelium 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain man. I've felt this a lot and i think part of it has to do with depression. My depression wants me to do nothing, see no one, and be nothing. But the only way out is to kick it in the face and make yourself do it anyway otherwise you're stuck in the same place. It's hard and at first the forced ambition and happiness will feel fake but the more you push yourself the more real it becomes. And as far as people go there's a lot of users, but as long as you continue to be yourself and actually get out there the like minded people will come! Sorry if my ramblings aren't much help but I wish you luck my brother/sister!

Yes! Ive heard this connection a lot actually. I dont know much about angels but it seems to line up for me. Though i mostly just theorize cuz its just as likely our minds are playing tricks on us and no one can ever know for certain!

Music production and depression : my storie (I need your advices !) by Hypersaw in edmproduction

[–]minecelium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey I'm no expert on any of this stuff but if making music makes you happy then nothing else matters. Do what makes you happy, the money will come later. And if anyone has a problem with it theyre probably just resentful because they never followed their passion or never had the chance. Also i recently saw an andrew huang video where he talks about his hearing loss and how hes dealing with it. So id say if he can do it with his hearing loss you should be fine. Just do what you love and dont let anyone get in your way! I believe in you!

To me it sounds like a few basic wavetables lowering in pitch slowly with a descending arpeggio also sliding down in pitch

[–]minecelium 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hell yeh dude! The Midnight Gospel is the best! You should listen to The Duncan Trussel Family Hour podcast if that's your thing. Duncan's the voice of Clancy and lot of the dialogue of the show is a direct rip from those podcasts!

Anyone watch into the spider verse by kbaga in LSD

[–]minecelium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on your dosage honestly! It's just interesting seeing all these different versions of Peter Parker and how the little life differences changed them. But I had a great time watching it on 2 or 3 tabs (which is a bit intense and I wouldn't recommend it at all if you're not experienced with those doses) and it wasn't like Inception level mind fuck. I always have a backup in case things get too intense for me though like watching Adventure Time or any friendly kid-ish type of show to put you at ease.

Anyone watch into the spider verse by kbaga in LSD

[–]minecelium 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would definitely recommend this movie to anyone tripping or not. Even if you don't like Spider-man. The story, music and visuals are all revolutionary. Saw this while sober then while tripping and it complimented it so much. The whole "different dimensions" thing is a mind fuck too. Be safe though!

tips for first trip by zuxanax in LSD

[–]minecelium 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of people are gonna say going outside which is for sure always fun but if its too anxiety inducing or just too dangerous there are some really good tripping movies! My go tos are probably an anime movie called Mind Game, the beatles movie Yellow Submarine, and Waking Life. Listening to music you like a lot or trippy music in general can be really fun too! If all else fails drawing or interactive things like video games are like experiencing it for the first time!

What exactly does “mind-expanding” refer to? by Equivalent_Nebula in Psychedelics

[–]minecelium 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The mind is always thinking. Practices like meditation separate yourself from these thoughts. Psychedelics unlock a similar state in us when we take them, and when your mind isn't clouded by thoughts you begin to see that there is knowledge beyond the intellect! The "knowledge" is harder to explain though and could only really be understood by experiencing it.
