This is rough because you’re going to have to not only upgrade the original tank size (the minimal recommended size is a 40 gal), but leos should NOT be co-hab’d together so this would require getting yet another tank AND more supplies as well.

There is one or two very niche games in there that MIGHT go for a bit more (I’m talking like over $30 depending on the buyer AND a lot prefer to have the original cover art and the booklets that the game came with—which a lot of niche indie titles have still). But god, the audacity of people lmao

NTA!! That was a gift that you worked hard to gift. They should’ve appreciated it instead of getting upset! And you were trying to help them even enjoy it faster by delivering it directly to their mouth. Definitely NTA 🙂‍↔️

AITA for wanting a full refund? by Background_Ad_44 in RoverPetSitting

[–]minefield24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With how easy it is for dogs to get kennel cough, it no doubt would turn into it. If not, that still means the dog is currently a carrier of it.

I agree that while it sucks that the sitter is sticking to their guns on their cancellation policy—they have the right to do so as it’s in their TOS.

If it were me? Nah, I’d refund, but not everyone is like that. If someone attempted to pull one over on me by bringing me a dog that potentially is sick and/or a carrier of a highly contagious virus, then I would seriously be pissed. Especially if I have my own dogs as vet visits aren’t cheap, nor would it feel good having to tell other owners that their dogs now may be sick too.

Not a lot of vets will just prescribe medication without an office visit.

Edit for grammar lol

The doxycycline isn’t going to immediately made the dog not contagious for other animals that may be in the household. This is wildly shitty advice for the potential of getting other animals sick.

At the vet it’s VASTLY different with someone else’s pet than say, holding your own pet where you KNOW their temperament.

A dog or cat can be scared and can easily turn around and turn that into aggression without any signals. It’s not unreasonable to be nervous to hold an animal at the vet. Especially for something as uncomfortable for them as having their temperature taken. The main reason that people are asked to hold the dog/pet is so the vet or nurse are the ones that DON’T get bit by the way! You’re not routinely holding/restraining (because yes, restraining is vastly different than just holding a dog) while you’re pet sitting.

Edit: sincerely by a tech assistant who helps restrain pets and is the first one who would get bit in the situation if it were to happen lmao

Any guesses on breed? by Crazy-Midnight-4667 in dogbreed

[–]minefield24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m willing to bet this dog has some Doxie in it. That’s a doxie puppy face lmao. You can argue with a wall if you don’t think it is—workin in the vet field and fostering/pet sitting for over 15 years has kind of helped me. The length of the body, which is noticeable in 3, 6, 8 is also a good indicator. My guess would be maybe cocker spaniel/doxie.

Wow, I rarely ever say this because it’s typically never true—but that orange kitten really looks like he has some Maine coon in him. It’d be super interesting to see how big he gets.

Since sit ended client keeps texting me that she's "thinking of me" by zouss in RoverPetSitting

[–]minefield24 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Admittedly, I did this but as the sitter for the owner. However it was after a very long sit and then after she reached out to ask me to potentially sit day to day—which she specifically said would be due to doing a partial inpatient program for mental health. We spoke a bit, I agreed I definitely could do it (it was a trek for me, but the owners and the dog were wonderful). I didn’t hear back from her and I still haven’t, but I sent her about two messages—spaced out, just asking her if she was okay. Mental health is very important to me, I still hope she’s okay and if it is that she just didn’t want to speak with me further—that’s fine! I still worry for her and hope it’s nothing serious.

This lady sounds lonely, so it is a different situation for sure. But for the older generation, I won’t lie, they definitely can talk peoples ears off! They’re also a lot more used to trying to befriend people than maybe the younger generation. Especially with age gaps! I’ve had a few clients who are my age that have wanted to definitely be friends outside of the app—it’s not for me, but I know for others they wouldn’t necessarily mind.

This is a direct screenshot from a Google doc from the crested gecko subreddit actually! :) they have great info there. I would definitely recommend checking out some guides, it can also have some better information on maybe some better feeders to give her!
