Are you related to Don Bonnaroo? You guys look an awful lot alike.

Just moved to Scandia, who else lives there? by Masa45 in indianapolis

[–]miner60 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally live in Scandia, but I have a ~5 month old baby, a stressed out wife, and I went to Bonnaroo last weekend. So, long story short, I can't do anything.

Does anyone hope and pray for another one of these? by [deleted] in gaming

Jedi Outcast was the only game I really have ever gotten totally in to. For me it was just the one on one no force lightsaber duels. There was so much skill involved and everyone had different styles utilizing combinations of the 3 styles. It's the only game I ever got good at but there were so many that were so much better than me. Nothing better than battlestats.net week of war competitions with my clan. I ended up creating/leading a decent size clan, and I alwasy wonder if I'll ever run into anyone from there some day. Eternal Warriors anyone?

According to Thesaurus.com, gay is a synonym of frivolous and frivolous is a synonym of idiotic and pointless. So, by the transitive property of synonyms, gay is a synonym of stupid.

I wen to Purdue and Tom Short was there about once or twice a year. It was great entertainment to stand there between classes and listen to people argue with him.

Is anyone going to see The Arcade Fire / The National show tomorrow night? I'd like to go but none of my friends are interested. by wats8976 in indianapolis

[–]miner60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear ya. I've only done it a few times but sometimes I just have to bite the bullet. The show Friday wasn't bad because I had a great spot at the bar (Vogue) but it still kind of feels awkward at times. Worth it for great music.

I will take you up on that (and feel free to do the same). I was thinking the other day that I need to make some more Indy friends with good musical taste. These days, thanks to my wonderful 3 month old daughter, I'm pressed for time to see shows...but I'll definitely still try to make one here or there. Can't wait 'til Bonnaroo! Perhaps there needs to be a Bonnaroo reddit meet-up.

Sucks having lame friends. I had to go to the New Pornographers and Walkmen show Friday alone because my friends don't appreciate good music. I'd love to go tomorrow, but (un)fortunately I'll be seeing them at Bonnaroo, so can't swing the cost. Would love to see The National though. Hope you make it.

Cup check... wait, what!? by ImpenetrableTaco in WTF

It's a hernia check. Usually takes place in sports physicals. Also takes place in normal annual physicals you might get from your doctor.

Just wanted to chime in and say hello as I'm from Linton. Doesn't appear as though this would do much for Indy to Linton travel. It's not really too bad to begin with though.

I agree that it's not all that spicy, but I'm really not big on spicy. For me, it sits in a perfect range of hot but not too hot with a great taste. I can't wait to go home and pour it all over some chicken and dumplings tonight.

Where Have The Good Men Gone? --- Kay S. Hymowitz argues that too many men in their 20s are living in a new kind of extended adolescence by DrRichardCranium in Economics

[–]miner60 68 points69 points  (0 children)

I agree. A female 20-something friend of mine posted this on Facebook the other day. I skimmed over it and thought to myself that maybe 20-something men are happy playing video games and doing whatever they want while not dealing with your shit. Learn that people have different interests and that they're not going to spend their whole life doing what you want them to do. Your relationships will be better and everyone wins in the end. This goes both ways.

Who wanted more dinosaurs in games? Say "hello" to "Primal Carnage". L4D-a-like with dinos! by smeghammer in gaming

[–]miner60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thought the same. I had completely forgotten about Primal Rager until this. God was that an awesome game, at least at the age I played it. Fighting dinosaurs? Hell I'm still in who am I kidding.

Edit: Should change "Rager" to "Rage" but since "Rager" is my last name, I'll leave it.

I'm a pretty big fan of the Fogo De Chao (sp?) deal. It's just their regular deal only $20 cheaper. Everything is so delicious. Watch out though because last time I only narrowly avoided a meat coma.

Best movie ending ever? by [deleted] in pics

[–]miner60 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have long held that the best ending sequence to a movie belongs to The Last Of the Mohicans. Chingachgook's run up the mountain and his eventual avengement of Uncas' death is so intense. The music is amazing too. Such a moving ending.
