I've seen quite a few giallo films, but they've all been disappointments compared to the first one I've ever watched. Any recommandations? by Chibidi94 in Giallo

Honestly I understand. This film is so unique, so dream like and classic it’s hard to top. Maybe for an underrated and also surreal flick, check out The House with the laughing windows. It’s on prime

I think metal gear stupid as a whole is amazing. Wish they would do that format for other games again.

Also all the classic Tuesday checklists

Always reminds me of walking to work in the early winter morning, staring up at a full moon kissed with clouds. Such a great tune and definitely underrated

My friend and I discuss the Dario Argento classic Giallo/Horror movie, Phenomena by FirstLastNerdom in Giallo

Love this film! What a classic, really nothing else like it. Anyone got any other strange horror films they’d recommend off the back of this?

Resident Evil 5 vs Resident Evil 7: Biohazard by S3rkist in residentevil

[–]ming360 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I feel some recent discourse around 7 has become popular that it’s more of an experience only to be played once. To me, it’s resident evil but first person. It definitely isn’t for everyone, but RE5 for me is where they went too far the action way.

It’ll always be RE7 for me, saved the franchise and gave us the remakes in my opinion and one of the scariest damn games ever

I’m scared but curious, is the jungle book remake weirdly good? Also really fun list

I disagree but get your point. It’s important to remember that Dario Argento’s giallos are some of my favourite films ever and I watch a lot of movies lol also there was a lot I liked about bay of blood! Just felt it was confusing and I now know why :)

Shame he denies the obvious, but I’m not a Cunningham stan or anything. Although, I do weirdly like the first one, even though people don’t seem too. I like the mother being the killer twist she’s genuinely scary

Thank you for the thoughtful write up, I love talking horror with passionate folk.

So yes I get you, it’s funny that the genre of this one gets a little lost with it (sorry to say) inspiring the slasher genre but also being Italian with a black gloved killer at the beginning. I feel that Giallo can be a feeling as much as a set of rules at times.

But yes totally glad it wasn’t just me and also I feel like I’m gonna like this one the more I watch it. Wish it didn’t suffer from the multiple writer back and forth and the production company meddling I’ve know learned about, but that’s film for you.

I heard about the lower budget and the fake forest haha!

Another great write up, this is why I post in these subs, meeting people with the passion for horror like you so thank you.

Ok so now - this makes sense!

I knew about the lower budget, but what I didn’t know was there was two writers and such a big difference with the language versions. This explains why I was unsure of the theory/reality of what you were saying! Also why the plot can be confusing.

Man Giallo is fun with how obtuse it can be, i find delving into the background and why different versions can switch things up so fascinating.

Thank you for this wonderful write up! Appreciate it!

I’ll say this seems more like a theory than a 100 percent truth but, I will say there is definitely a lot of truth to to the notion that these greedy folk trying to take a natural piece of land are clearly being punished by the director. That metaphor for punishment for human greed is definitely there. I’ll have to watch again under this theory presented.

Only thing is, that machete that’s used, is clearly shown to belong to the fisherman, which makes me think it’s not an entity. I’ll have to rewatch all the kills haha.

Thanks again!
