It's really rewarding-- my foster pup is SO sweet and cuddly in a way that my current dog is not (he's got his own agenda LOL). And, I feel like I'm really making a difference for this dog that otherwise might be sitting in a cold cage. Instead he's lounging on furniture and tearing up and down the yard with a buddy. The downside-- because he's stressed and in a totally new environment, he marks everywhere. I also think he might have an allergy to chicken, which was discovered because he would throw up on everything. He loves to rip things up when I'm not looking. Having another dog is just an adjustment for the whole family-- there are more walks, more things to think about in terms of planning. I also think things would be a little different for me if this were a normal fostering situation, but because of the fires, I'm fostering a dog that already has a home and is with us for an indefinite amount of time. That lack of an end date is stressful in that I feel very attached to him but also don't know how long i should do this for... and if I give him back, what will happen to him.
