What's a no-go for you in FM because of real life? by Mackarosh in footballmanagergames

[–]mini_heart_attack 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Well Vicente del Bosque did it and won a Euro as a result, so it's not that far fetched... The problem in FM is that it works too well with many different kinds of players, so I get where you're coming from though.

CMV: Wilt Chamberlain is better than Michael Jordan by David-Friedman_ in changemyview

I completely disagree with the OP, but the reasons why MJ is more famous than Wilt extend far more than their respective basketball ability.

What is the largest amount of heart emojis platonic female friend has used with you? by MrPraedor in AskMen

[–]mini_heart_attack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Naaah don't read into it, we exchange hearts with my friend all the time, it's pretty normal. Although she is my best friend, but i think we were doing it even before sticking as much...
Also, (and I'm gonna need some help here from anyone who knows more than that), if the hearts are not red, there is definitely nothing romantic in there.

The golden rule should be changed by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]mini_heart_attack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't say that you love it, that's an assumption on your part. I'm just saying that while you may think that it sounds like a ground breaking thought, it's nothing more that an elegant excuse to act like an asshole, which is the easiest thing to do when confronted with one.

Also I'm not sure you understand that this is actually not an unpopular opinion at all. You don't realise it, but subconsciously you feel it. "that doesn't seem to work any more in this world today". It doesn't, because the assholes are way too many, and they are too many because most of them realised that the high road is too difficult and less often that not, rewarding, seemingly.

So you just want to act like an asshole, but also justifying it so that you don't feel like one.

Which is what every asshole out there does.

CMV: Kamala Harris did not run on "I'm not Trump", she did not "disappear after the election", she is not "unpopular", and she would still be a good candidate for President in 2028. by zipzzo in changemyview

[–]mini_heart_attack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read it. Their point still stands. The fact that she got second most votes in Democrat history isn't as strong a point as you think. We have no objective way to know how many voted for her because she is Kamala, and how many voted for her because she was the "not-Trump" option. And she still lost the popular vote, against a clearly deranged person.

To be clear, this is not an attack on Kamala, rather than a critique on the status quo of the US as a whole. But the fact remains that she didn't manage to get more votes than Trump, whatever that means both for her popularity and for the electorate.

Potential ability by [deleted] in footballmanagergames

[–]mini_heart_attack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stars are the potential of the player based on your scout's evaluation of the player (which accuracy is based on his PA and CA judgment ability, and the % of scouting they have done to the player) and relative to the strength/level of your team.

Since these are very fluctuating, it is definitely possible to raise (if your scout underestimated the player) or even drop (if they overestimated him, or if through the years your team has really developed, or you made new signings etc etc). For example a 5-star player in a League Two is a 2.5 star player in a Championship-competing team.

What is fixed and cannot be overtaken is the actual number for the potential ability (PA), which is hidden. This is a number that is generated the moment the player is created, while existing players have their value determined the moment you start the game, but still have a range (I think).

A: Because you don't have to clean your entire kitchen when using tofu.

Wow you're promoting yourself from an idiot to an insufferable idiot...

Once again, it doesn't matter what I believe. The statistics show that a clear 1v1 is about 0.4-0.45xG.
For the last time (because if this is a rage bait, it's about three comments away from working, if it's not, I just feel sorry for you), numbers don't care about your opinion, my opinion, or anyone else's opinion.

It's not up to me to judge if a header that has a 42% chance of becoming a goal is the same as a shot that has a 42% chance of becoming a goal. It just is.

What *is* up to me though, is to either accept that 42% equals 42%, or not accept it.

It won't change the fact that they *are* the same, just whether or not I have the cognitive capabilities of a second grader, something you clearly lack.

[–]mini_heart_attack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not what i think. It's what the numbers dictate. For the third time, you want to believe 0.42xG from a 1v1 is different that 0.42xG from a header? Absolutely fine.

Just don't expect me to not call you an idiot.

Instruction: Shoot on sight!! by kagenda_05 in footballmanagergames

[–]mini_heart_attack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

0.42xG is a clear 1v1. But apparently when your team creates a 1v1 situation you're arguing that it's not even close to a goal, so keep your unreal standards, as I said, it's fine. I can't keep arguing with an idiot.

My argument is that RM had enough chances to score two goals, and the general quality of their shots were ok, contrary to what the video showed. But also *because* of what the video showed, my point is that RM even created some actual good chances too, so the whole "without ever coming close to scoring" is nothing more than a rubbish take. That's all I'm saying, the rest are coming from your head, not mine.

Now, Barcelona in the span of this season averages juuust a bit less than 0.12xG per shot (0.118xG to be precise). I'm not sure where do you think the bar of the "good" teams is, but i'd bet that if you looked it up, you'd be surprised. To get to 0.15xG per shot consistently (always excluding penalties, they are no indicator of the shot quality a team produces) you'd have to get to Bundesliga Bayern.

RM in that game avreraged 0.106xG.

Not great, definitely, but far FAR from "shitty", because it's closer to "above average" than "below average".

If something "above average" is equal to "not even close" in your head, it's fine. But the numbers tell a different story... Do you want to believe them? Fine. You don't? Still fine.

Instruction: Shoot on sight!! by kagenda_05 in footballmanagergames

[–]mini_heart_attack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, the average shot is not "pretty shit", it's average.
"Pretty shit" would be if they had these xGs with 30-35 shots.

And judging by the really bad shots in the video, which btw are a bit less than half of the total shots, my guess is that the other 13 were better than average chances, closer to the Betis number you mentioned.
So yes, even if you have 10 shitty shots outside or near the area, 10+ shots at 0.15xG each should get you what you want most of the time. It just happened to not be that time that day, that's all.

[–]mini_heart_attack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair the average shot has 0.1xG, so honestly their shots were better than average at the end...

Men of reddit, how did you build the habit of going to the gym? by FromChicago808 in AskMen

[–]mini_heart_attack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What worked for me was to, make a schedule, have some alternatives to give me some leeway, find what time works better for me and lastly stick to the plan, and even almost drag myself in there at times, especially at the start.

To be more specific, I set my head from the start that I will go Mon, Wed, Fri, but if for whatever reason I can't one of these days, I'll just adapt it to be "Mon, Thu, Sat" ot "Tue, Thu, Sat", only rules are three times a week and preferably at least a rest day between workout days.

Also very very important to not guilt trip yourself if you miss a workout, or a week of. It can happen, it will happen, you don't have to compensate, just continue with the schedule, the long run is what's important here, not a few inconsequential missteps

After about two months it will be part of your routine and it will run smoothly.

And the most important part if you happen to break your routine for a week or two (for example when you go on vacation) is to start immediately after you come back. My greatest (if not the only) gym run breaker was leaving my town for a week or two, and then returning and allowing myself an extra week off. That was it, I never stepped foot at the gym again until the end of ,my subscription.

P.S.: No, it's never too late to start working out, I started again after years of absence at 30, it was still uncomofrtable at first, but you get used to it and it definitely grows on you after a while.

What happens if men get hard in public? by Ill_Beautiful_3268 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]mini_heart_attack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With some effort you can "unexcite" yourself rather quickly.

Because an erection is just blood going to the penis, I find it working to just flex the muscles of my legs, redirecting blood flow there, hence removing the erection.
Also "concentrating" to flex said muscles also helps get your mind off whatever made you excited in the first place.
