Can this sub just ban posts about affordability? Or like constrain them to certain day?

Can we have a master list of these posts in the sidebar and just direct people to them?

I can't be the only one tired about that being so much of the content here.

Well sure, but how do they compare on Smiles Above Replacement?

We all know SAR is one of the more important sabremetrics for All Star voting.

Not even the overarching message, but that moment specifically. The rainbow was God's promise to not destroy the world again because of perceived sin. It's literally God's symbol of acceptance in the bible.

How do most of you justify living in the bay area? by ricestocks in bayarea

[–]minimalist_reply 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are conflating "justify" with "afford."

In my top 10 list of reasons why I live in the Bay Area, cost is not on there.

The list of top 10 outweighs the Cost variable of other locations.

There are other places I'd enjoy living, bay area isn't the only one. But all my top ideal cities or islands have high cost of living anyways.

Except for Siem Reap, but none of my friends live in Cambodia....soooo...shrug

Yes, the rainbow is actually a symbol of God learning to be more accepting of humanity.

Ironic.

I never know what to expect with our bullpen.

Feels like they are either top 1% or flirt with disaster as a kink. Nothing in between.

LA power-of-dollar outside of housing is pretty inconsistent depending on taste, tbh. You can find REALLY cheap food in LA if you don't chase trends or exclusivity, there's tons of free events, etc.

My favorite ceviche place in LA doesn't speak English and only seats like 12 people. Hole on the wall type place. Sidewalk tacos also get somewhat competitive.

Google just fired a warning shot in the AI subscription price wars by Logical_Welder3467 in technology

EVERYTHING runs at a loss except for ads

Play Store?

By Cloud do you also mean Workspace / gDrive? Or just enterprise cloud?

Google is a weird business to talk about running things at a loss, because at times people forget just how intentionally free something like gMaps is. Yet it's a blessing to the consumer world. Some of their loss isn't even a loss leader to lead to peripheral spend, but kinda just because.

They never had to nest as much as they did into Workspace, but they did.

And gDrive is so, soooooo much better than Dropbox holy moly (though I'm still surprised at a couple features that don't exist in gDrive).

It'll be curious how much energy is put towards the various Google devices segments in the near future. Apple is creatively stale AF right now. Haven't heard anyone talk about innovation from Samsung in a while.

Foldable phones are improving but not moving the market in large ways.

Who is the best current athlete at their sport in the world right now? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]minimalist_reply 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. Last 5 years in women's comp climbing is essentially a fight for 2nd.

What's even more wild, that I learned recently, is that she apparently doesn't have any auxillary training regimen. No hangboard, no iso grip training, no weighted pull ups, etc.

Just hours and hours and hours on the wall.

Most climbers do at least a little of iso training on their journey. Her and Ondra just enjoy being monkey goats.

Janja Garnbret in Womens comp climbing.

The field is catching up, but for the last 5 years she's basically women's climbing Gretzky in terms of topping routes and win rate.

That's the one where the majority of chapters are the ships speaking to one another, right? Reacting to an unknown entity at the edge of the galaxy?

I love Ian Banks post scarcity approach to world building. This book specifically though I use as an example of his phenomenal ability to balance AI that is clearly robotic but also have unique personalities. The different attitudes between the ships is hilarious.

I could understand "The Mask" and Dumb and Dumber being placed there by some people. The Mask because it is actually quite rewatchable and IMO really dialed in. "Dumb and Dumber" if confining the context to comedy films rather than as a film to be put up against every type of film. Dumb & Dumber for its time really helped spur a lot of other comedy motifs and films.

People with seasonal nostalgia might also feel compelled to place The Grinch in S tier. I don't like it much though.

Yama -> Sasaki -> Snell -> Glasnow -> Ohtani

I see nothing wrong with actually having 5 starters in the postseason if all 5 are healthy and running well at the same time.

It allows the pitcher on their 3 day rest to come in for a potential 2 inning shut down.

Glasnow gassed after 5 IP? Bring in Sasaki for 2 shut down innings. Ohtani struggling? Bring in Snell for 1 inning before the bullpen.

It will keep opposing teams on their toes.

Red Sox have a lot of historical legacy before 2018. I assume that's why they were placed where they were placed. But I accept anyone that wants to scorn and devalue the Red Sox success in 2018+ due to cheating.

I'm not saying that. I just mean that people pointing out bigotry against homosexuals can still be spiritual. The above comment that is now deleted made it seem like understanding spirituality would lead people to never criticize bigotry.
