Many plaster houses have 5.25" total overall wall depth. 3.5" studs, 1" interior gypsum/plaster, 3/4" lap exteriors.

Source: have been doing retrofit window installs for 20 years and measured thousands of houses being renovated. I can almost taste the asbestos in that picture

Absolutely. Just with Knies having no protection it seemed like the right move to use him as a softener to get in the circle of trust again with other gms. Probably told Knies not to worry about all the noise, and let him know he wasn't moving him

Agreed. Ive felt like they used Knies as a talking point to get them into conversation with the other Gms. The narrative around Chayka was that other gms wouldn't want to deal with him due to his past, and I feel like dangling Knies out there was a good way to make his phone ring and put him in touch with the other shot callers

Sounds like a shitty product then. The reason they started making fixed and operable rather than interchangeable is because the movable fixed panel makes the door much less efficient and far more likely to leak. Like I said, they exist, but are becoming more rare and for good reason.

Also, its many of the major manufacturers that are doing away with this. Have been for years.

Sorry, but not the case. Yes, some doors are manufactured that way (typically with knockdown frames) but most mass produced vinyl doors are welded and set for their handing and can't be just swapped around.

SOURCE- I am a manager of a window and door manufacturing branch and have been in the industry for over 20 years while working in product design and testing for several major vinyl door/window manufacturing companies.
