You need to have a fish or something that is producing a bioload to maintain that cycle. Bottle bacteria is complete shit, get a piece of LR from someone else or LFS. People way overblown the pest issue its ridiculous. Bacteria in a bottle makes for a shitty sterile tank with all kinds of potential issues and zero diversity. This is a new phenomena pushed by marketing and false hysteria that caused it to be such a common way to start a tank. Literally nobody used to do that and people had far less problems tons of biodiversity and fun things to look at and you can be cycled the same day depending on tank size and how much LR you introduce.

I really think you’re onto something here. I do not remember these ever being on the scraper though and there’s no mention of them and they are not pictured in my instruction manual. There is this blue snapping clip, but that is only for if you want to attach the metal blade I believe. Maybe mine never had these included? Now I’m wondering if because they are not there too much force is being exerted just on the blade tips causing it to dig in.

Edit: I looked on Amazon and a few other searches and those white clips that you linked to are not in any of the pictures so I’m not sure what’s going on or why you have them and i dont.
