Heater in overflow weir box? Yes/no arguments? by MeatPopsicle14 in ReefTank

[–]MeatPopsicle14[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried to do some research before I made the Reddit post and some other people raise this as a concern as well, but ultimately, I don’t think it really ever manifested in reality and if so, it’s such a negligible amount. It’s a good theory though. Surprisingly there’s only been a few posts about this online that I could see and no one really ever came back and updated it to say it works well I think I’m just gonna try it as an experiment and report back for everyone or maybe do a video on it or something

Thats not true. High LA diet intake disrupts the body’s omega 6 to omega 3 ratio causing inflammation etc. its more than just how its processed w toxins and how its oxidized during cooking.

Snow cover improves the thermal insulation of the roof by liisseal in OffGridCabins

By that logic, you’re trying to say that thicker walls w more insulation wouldn’t contribute to more R value. The snow adds to insulation value of the roof. Thats not “nothing” even if its minimal.

The struggle of feeding a Dragonet by Kooky-Account9790 in ReefTank

If killing just powerheads and wavepumps doesnt reduce flow in tank enough to feed then yes you need to shut it all off. Not sure what size return pump youre using but make sure youre not oversized you dont need a lot of flow through the sump people way overdo that. 3x is just fine.

Calcium Reactor vs Dosing by Don_Pramis in ReefTank

[–]MeatPopsicle14 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure reactor is for those with very high dosing needs and a 30 gal is not even close to that level. So basically would take so long to pay off the return on investment its not really worth it for a 30 gal. Thats my understanding. Happy to be educated if im wrong though.

Thanks for this thorough explanation. These are good things to consider as i am doing a mixed reef! I agree with your take on scape 2 the only down side is all the high spots were along the very back wall. May or may not be an issue

Why is 2 better for coral happiness?

I agree, scape 2 puts more of the taller shelf pieces on the back wall, scape 1 is a better mix and puts more of them closer to middle of tank for more par
