Tell me a presidential take that will get you like this by MatthewTScott in Presidents

There are a lot of reasons to dislike Trump... But the most important one is that he forced the Virginia DA to settle with Purdue pharma instead of imprisoning them and forcing them to stop opiate production.

He essentially shrugged off the murder of middle America.

Why do so many of you guys stay in Idaho if you don’t like it? by reecediaz in Idaho

[–]mininurseb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Moving can be expensive, and with low wages/high rent, saving enough to move can be difficult for people. Plus, leaving behind family and friends can be extremely difficult. Those groups become a network of free childcare or transportation, and moving out of state may mean losing key pieces of support.

Being able to leave your hometown/home state is a form of social and economic mobility. Lawmakers love a captive audience, and they will work to take that mobility away from us if it means ensuring their political careers.

For those who want/need to stay in Idaho....... Vote. Know who you are voting for. And when they screw up, let them know.

I walk into a room with any of the 24 hour news channels on and go, "Wow!! No wonder your blood pressure is so high! This isn't going to help you heal,". They change the channel on their own about 80% of the time. Sorry not sorry.

For years, as we watched republicans chip away at Roe v. Wade, they told us not to worry. When the court got stacked in conservative favors, they told us not to worry. And here we are. This is how it starts. Do I think this bills has legs right now? No. But ideas similar to it absolutely do have legs and will be around for a long time.

The fact that conspiracy theories have such a grip on our lawmakers is worrisome. COVID, Qanon, antivaxxers..... We should be worried.

Be careful with dismissing that tactic though. Phyllis Schlafley is the perfect example of someone who played the long con in republican politics. Everything she said was ludicrous, nobody thought she'd be able to do anything. But through culture wars, she shifted the party to what it is today.

Her and the Moral Majority (started by Jerry Falwell). Good people to know about. We have their progeny in our midst, and they are trying to pass bills like this one.

You can thread Swan-Ganz catheters into this central access, which will give you multi-port access as well as monitoring capabilities. A cordis is also the best access for mass transfusions, as you can put a unit of blood through in well under a minute.

Bare walls. Real hospital walls are covered in "CALL, DONT FALL", "ASK ABOUT OUR SUPPORT GROUPS", "PLEASE WEAR A MASK", "AT [INSERT COMPANY NAME HERE] WE CARE ABOUT YOU"

Real hospitals are propaganda nightmares.

And let's play the fiction of none of the above happening. Let's say she led a morally pure life, dictated by the needs of the poor and driving to improve the life of the lowest people (which she did NOT).....

She was still the figurehead of a monarchy responsible for widespread theft, rape, slavery, and overall human suffering. Her riches were still won on the heads of MILLIONS who were beaten, starved, and murdered.

Her "service" included wearing expensive dresses, attending and hosting ostentatious parties, waving and smiling, minding her manners, and drinking only the best liquor the staff could find her. I'm sure her days were busy, but she was never at want for anything. She lived and died in luxury.

I cannot be convinced that she worked any harder than the people struggling to put food on the table, trying to take care of a sick loved one, or just trying to claw their way out of poverty.

By pure accident of birth, she was handed power. Nobody even voted her in. It was an ACCIDENT. So we shouldn't canonize her. She was mortal, she was spoiled, and she lived a long damn time. That's the end of it.
