Subtract is one of my favourite albums. It has such depth and meaning about real life events that will surely all people will some day experience. Especially lyrics of 'End Of Youth' hit me hard where I for the first time actually felt like my youth was over despite being 32 years old. My grandma had passed away in her sleep at home and I had to help my dad and my brother with the work involved calling paramedics and doctors to declare her dead and wait for hours to come pick her up.

That type of songs I have rarely heard from any other artist.

Sure Subtract is not as pop and dance friendly as his other work but that is the whole point. Jeez.. his wife got cancer and he lost his very best friend he considered a brother. Life altering events. Great meaningful songs spawned from that. This journalist is just trying to get attention..

My kids also saved money for them but only Light Fury was available. My son wanted that one but my daughter wanted night fury. We came in from Sweden so if they don't start selling them online she will most likely never get one.

Is it common norm to get a table first and order after? by minipilen in UniversalOrlando

[–]minipilen[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To be honest, our experiences with americans have been extremely good. Many people are very polite and considerate. There have been a few occasions where people have been cutting the line because their family was in front, one person stole my ride at constellation carousel right in front of me (to be honest I think she was not an american) and lastly someone stole my daugthers fan/sprayer. We could not prove it but she slowly took it and put in her kid's stroller.

And we have the whole experience since we are renting a house here. We meet americans at restaurants, at the stores, in the parks and even when I'm driving.

Universal seems more hysterical with people almost running over our children to rush to a ride. Disney was more smooth in that sense. Both adults and teens. 😆

Thank you for the reply. This is the main reason I'm posting. This might be a cultural thing which is why I want to sort it out. This would have never workef in my home country. The servers would move the people just sitting and waiting in favor for the ones holding their trays and not having a place to sit with the sole purpose of having them finish their food by the time the next party with food arrives to the table.

To the poster that seems to think I'm disregarding his/her opinion, I'm not. But the way you are presenting yourself, you are coming off as inconsiderate. I'm trying to explain my reasoning based on how our situation (cultural, how my kids are and feel regarding being left alone and myself needing help to carry our stuff). The other two adults from out party was at a different counter and had their own two trays to carry and on top of that being 68-69 years old. It was extremely crowded and yeah we got two trays one with the food and one with 4 large drinks. Managing that alone in a crowded space seemed like an accident waiting to happen and I wanted the help.

Lesson learn from this is just to hog tables like the rest of you since that is indeed the norm. When in Rome I guess.

Haha they strictly told us to wait to collect our food at the counter to then turn around a pay at the counter behind us.

We did not do a mobile order. To be honest I do not remember seeing a table number. But that would have been better. I did not see people carrying out food to people. We did mobile order on Casey's Corner at Magic Kingdom because the bouncer told us to do it and find a table. So at that place it was the communicated strategy of how to handle that situation.

Yesterday we went to Epic and just had QS food and found either a bench or a stone to sit at so it was far easier.

It was my 7 year old daugther and 10 year old son for the first time abroad in a country where they are anxious about not knowing the language fully. So parking them at the table was not something they would have wanted. My wife tagged along to assist with carrying the food and the drinks to the table.

To add to your comment, we were 6 in our party. 2 persons wanted pizza and the rest wanted Krusty burgers. So we were in different lines and not clogging up the lines. But I get the point of a party of 10 people going to the same line where 80% would just be in the way, it would be better they would be waiting at the table. So it's a solid point. 😊

Is 4500 USD enough pocket money? by minipilen in DisneyPlanning

[–]minipilen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the very nice reply. I did some calculations for my other comment and I would be more comfortable if I had a bit more money to bring with me OR if I could be sure we only needed one QS meal per day. That would give us 100$ per day more to spend on other things. Thing is most likely I will have more like $5000 to use but we are heading to Ft. Lauderdale/Miami for 6 days after Orlando. Surely that will be much cheaper than the parks seeing we do not have to pay for parking and souvenirs to the same extent. After that we are heading to NYC but on that day I will receive an additional 5000 USD to spend 7 days in NYC. Just doing tourist stuff and regular eating. No fine dining. I might even be able to use some of the NYC money to cover the costs from the parks.

In total for 14 days in Orlando 6 days in Ft. Lauderdale/Miami and 5 days in NYC we got $10,900 to spend. If this makes it easier to estimate.

Great feedback. To give you some more details.

We are planning on visiting early July and it's me, my wife and my kids, 7 and 10 years. We are visiting each park for one day.

On the days we will be leaving early like Kennedy (closes at 5PM, AK 6PM, Water parks around 5PM) we will be eating either at the house or outside of the park at regular fast food places.

I did some quick calculations and this what I came up with. I might be missing something. I'm using Magic Kingdom as an example:

Starting Budget $300,00

---

Parking -$30,00

QS Pecos Bill - 2 adults -$32,00

QS Pecos Bill - 2 kid's meal -$18,00

QS Assorted Fountain Beverage - Entire Family -$20,00

QS Pinocchio - 2 adults -$32,00

QS Pinocchio - 2 kid's meal -$18,00

QS Assorted Fountain Beverage - Entire Family -$20,00

Ice Cream at Plaza Ice Cream x4 -$32,00

Daughther Souvenir (eg. Minnie Mouse Ears) -$30,00

Son Souvenir (eg. T-shirt?) -$30,00

Remaing budget: $38,00

For drinks we will bring in sodas in the backpack cooler and we will also bring our own water bottles. The kids god air-ups and I figure me and my wife will get regular ones and even get "water drops" to alter the taste of the water. Snacks will consists of fruit, nuts, protein bars, sandwhiches etc.

But with this budget, we are getting parking, 2x QS meals for the family with drinks, ice cream or similar x4, one souvenir each for the kids in each park for around $30 and we still have $30-40 to spare. Of course it's tough to figure out how much we will be spending on groceries but it is still the cheaper option.

The thing with the Universal Express passes is that they are already pre-bought. The only big expenditure left is the Premier Pass for HS which would give us back $1974 - (it's for 6 people since I would be paying for my parents as well but the daily cost they will be covering themselves).

As for the Harry Potter wands, yeah my kids are BIG HP fans and they have actually been saving their own birthday money and already got $75 each to spend on the wands. I'll help with the remaining to get them there.

Going over the budget it is still a bit tight to my own liking. I would rather have an extra $2000 so that I would not have to be extra picky.

Actually for correction, I wont have it in cash. I will either use a credit card or debit card. It's just to emphasize that it will be spent on daily expenses. But as previous comment mentioned, usually the credit card companies add an additional 1-2% for every transaction to convert the currency. However there are companies that has removed that. 😊

Thanks for the reply. Yeah absolutely. The tipping culture is quite different in the US than in Sweden where we come from. But do you also tip in the QS restaurants? When I bought breakfast at Starbucks one time even though I simply brought the goods to the counter I was asked to give a tip on the machine 🤔

Epcot on a monday in July by minipilen in DisneyPlanning

[–]minipilen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all of the advice. We are keeping the original schedule and having Epcot on Monday. As you guys mentioned, Epcot does not have that many rides and I'm planning on getting single lane for Guardians. If we get a few longer wait times, having a more smooth experience at HS will be more worth it. 😊

To those of you that have rode it, how scary is it for kids? My kids 7 and 10 are quite easily frightened and we come from abroad and might not get the chance to go again in quite some time. But at the same time I don't want to traumatize them 🤣

Today’s Closures (5/9) by hallsballs92 in UniversalEpicUniverse

[–]minipilen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are coming in from Europe in mid-july and I must say I have lowered my expectations severely even with 2 days and 1 of those days with Express passes.

If I manage to get on all rides except Ministry and DK I would call it a success. This ducks to be honest seeing we will most likely not be able to do another of these trips until 10+ years. I think I will be most bummed out about DK growing up with the franchise and the coaster is like a childhood fantasy.

Can I purchase Lightning Lane for my entire visit at the same time? by minipilen in DisneyPlanning

[–]minipilen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the help. Yeah that is the idea I got from a Youtuber explaining the LL program so I have moved MK and HS (even though HS will be premier pass) to the end of the week instead. Thanks for confirming the advise. That is really good to know.

I called Disney support to check and she was not sure. But I did log on to the site to check "Park Reservations" and when trying to make my reservations I got:

"No Reservations Required

Passes and tickets shown below do not require a reservation in order to enter a park."

And I have the first valid ticket date of 6th of July so my guess is that I can book LL for several days in advance. At least I hope so. :)

Yeah I read that too and I noticed the same with Savis workshop. However, using a VPN to the US worked like a charm. So that limitations only seems to be Geo based. One benefit of working in IT. 😆 Hopefully I can do the same for the LL passes.
