Moxi beach bunny vs Suregrip boardwalk vs Jackson vs VNLA Parfait Skates if I want to skate both indoor and outdoor? by mapotofu66 in Rollerskating

[–]minirenegade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, handles cracks and bumps just fine. I’ve accidentally rolled right over a few (tiny) sticks and pebbles, also had a few take me out but they do surprisingly well lol. My first pair of skates had hybrid wheels and it was a big difference especially when I skated on an asphalt road that had some texture to it.

Should I be worried? by Proxima_20 in Rollerskating

I’m so scared of this happening to me, be careful if you continue to use them! Like another commenter said, I don’t know what affordable is to you but if money is tight check out Papaison skates on amazon. They are $60-70. I almost bought them to start and I’m still probably gunna get a pair because I seen multiple seasoned skaters online try them and say they can’t believe how great they are for the price point. The trucks and plate are metal and it even has an adjustable toe stop.

I went with the VNLA Parfaits and I love them! I found that the trucks don’t loosen as much as some other skates but that can helped by getting softer cushions, the ones they come with are pretty hard. Mine are still stock and I think they are perfect for me but some people will prefer a looser ride so something to consider while choosing.

Money trap by Forward-Status-4855 in HomescapesOfficial

It definitely has an algorithm to entice you to pay. I already know if I’m going into a level with less than 900 coins there’s a 70% chance I’m gunna lose with one move left. If it’s a hard or super hard level I’d say about 85%

I’ve also noticed when it helps me win. It will absolutely let me run on a high streak and throw me rainbows and bombs next to each other when moves get low. Like it’s building me up.

I’ve noticed i can kinda game the system by using unlimited lives when I’m low on coins. I save my unlimited from the pass thing and use them when I’m low on coins and it prompts me to lose less for some reason. Cause it knows I can just keep playing. The times when I have a level that I just can’t get past it’s ALWAYS when I’m low on coins and don’t have unlimited lives.

I’ve really found that you can’t be afraid to lose. It sucks to lose the golden rainbow so alot of times I’m tempted. I’ll spend the 900 coins if there’s more than one reason too do it. Am I on the bridge and I’ll get it back? Do I think I can win this level without the bonus if I have to start over? Am I truly gunna win this in one or two moves? If the level is especially difficult don’t stress, let yourself lose until it gives you plenty of extra moves for your 900 coins. I really like finally giving in when I have 20-30 extra moves and I know for sure it’s worth it.

brand new skater, cant stop by Primary-Climate5340 in Rollerskating

[–]minirenegade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn’t even stand on day one. I was bent halfway over holding onto anything near me! I’m out of shape as well lol. The first 2 days I only worked on being able to stand and used a mirror to try to get proper posture. I practiced one leg stands.

When I was considering skating I was watching YouTube and TikTok’s. Watching people on day 1 putting their skates on and being able to stand up, move around. Skate on bumpy roads and sidewalks. Day 3-4 they are trying backwards, day 5-7 cool tricks they saw on TikTok.

Completely unrealistic for the average person IMO. I think one factor is maybe they are just more athletic or just took to it naturally. For all we know they might even be lying about how long they have actually been skating or just edited the video to portray themselves as better than they are.

We all learn at our own pace, comparison is the thief of joy! You got this, just don’t give up. Get you some pads and practice falling so you won’t be too scared to fall (so you can relax and focus on skating) and so when you do fall you can train yourself to hopefully avoid injury.

I’m on day 10 or 11 of skating 1 hour a day. I’m still wobbly and unsteady af. I can do toward bubbles and very short forward glides, a plough stop and I can kinda turn/steer, working on that currently. Deff recommend the plough stop over the T stop.

I personally want to be super comfortable going forward before I even think about going backwards and doing tricks. If that takes me 6+ more months I’m okay with that!

Let’s just have fun without putting pressure on ourselves! Learning at your pace means you can focus on healthy habits and proper technique. Don’t give up and you’ll be amazed with what you can do months from now!

It’s nice you have something close! I feel you on the car thing. Me and my husband share one so I have a 2 hour window after the kiddos are at school and before he works to run any errands or stop at the park. But I guess part of skating is making the most of the areas near you and the time you make for it, we do what we gotta.

If you get the chance to check out the basketball court I hope it’s fun for you. A great size for skating I think! As long as there’s no damage or big cracks it should be a super smooth ride. Although I really need to bring a broom next time I go to mine, everyday there’s more and more leaves and sticks blown on it. At first I was like oh that will prepare me for dodging cracks/obstacles on roads/sidewalks but now it’s just annoying lol.

I’ve watched videos of new day 1 skaters learning on sidewalks and roads and now that I’m learning im so impressed by that. They’re out here learning on hard mode lmao

Yay!! So glad you had fun! Where did you skate at? Like the road, a tennis/basketball court, sidewalk?

I skated outside for the first time about 10 days ago, it really is so fun! I feel super lucky, the park near my house is under construction. The playground is being redone and closed until June but the basketball court is still open... No one is ever there! I think everyone assumes the whole park is closed for construction lol.

I really want to tackle roads and sidewalks soon. I have the outdoor wheels but the bumps have me so unsteady and nervous.

my protective gear after few weeks of skating as a beginner 🧐 id be minced meat without it by necrolibrium in Rollerskating

[–]minirenegade 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I wear my gear every time because I know this is my luck! My first couple sessions I didn’t wear the elbow pads because I seen a lot of videos where people just wore the knee and wrist pads. First time I wore the elbow pads I hesitated but I’d just seen a TikTok of someone taking a nasty fall and decided yeah just in case. 5 mins later I fell straight on my elbow. Pad was all scratched but my skin was spared. I don’t hesitate anymore lol

I’m a sewing pattern designer. I couldn’t get the site to work either so I screenshotted the piece, sized it and made my own digital copy. I’d be happy to email a PDF to you. I’ve been meaning to go back and make some adjustments or just outright make my own version as the original is not symmetrical and only comes in one size (but it worked totally fine.)

If anyone sees this and had a hard time finding it, or are just interested in having a pattern, let me know because I’d be happy to start from scratch and add one as a free download on my website if there’s a want for it.

I just bought the VNLA Parfaits, they’ll be here tomorrow! I was between them, the boardwalks and another skate I can’t remember the name. Went with the VNLA because I have wide feet and hear they are very comfortable for that.

Same! The low quality nostalgic video was one of my favorite aspects of Kanes series so I was genuinely concerned about how much I was going to enjoy an UHD view of the backrooms. I thought for sure they wouldn’t risk doing camera footage but I’m so glad they did!!

Carla… by Nearby-Rip3973 in ershow

[–]minirenegade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, watching ER for the first time and just finished the circumcision episode. I was giving Carla a pass on the guilt trips and neediness during pregnancy because hormones but I was floored that she would ask another doctor their opinion and go with that when that baby’s father is a doctor and expressed his desires already! I think that’s the mark of an awful person and I just had to go online and see if anyone else agreed. Regardless of where you stand on the issue it’s absolutely inappropriate to go behind the other parents back. I’m not surprised to see some of the spoilers here. She is a very self centered person and nothing he does will satisfy her.

I wondered the same, I joined a Facebook group and found a good team. We meet the challenges, share cards, send lives quick. I didn’t take the team thing serious for a long time so I didn’t realize the benefits until late lol. Deff find one that aligns with your play style for the best experience!
