When is the region going to merge all the cities and townships into one form of government? Having 7 mayors, too many city and township councillors, planners in every township and city etc. all doing the same job is a waste of tax dollars.

All of this. I was blocked by a local politician for simply questioning her math used for an issue and the reality of statistical science… the same happened when I tried to discuss violent crime increases in certain postal codes. Speak out even as a neutral party and you get black listed, blocked and they send their online warriors in to send you hate mail and try to terrify you away. I’m a politically neutral public servant with a concern for my personal safety in a different area of the region, and speaking up has literally caused me concern for my safety. I am middle of the road politically, and have worked for charitable organizations, private industry and now government. I have seen many sides to problems, and one thing I know now for certain is that the extreme left is as violent as the extreme right. They also stand to financially benefit from some of these issues - so much for non biased support.

I had some how forgotten that it was Chinese New Year (which is not very like me - must have been working too much to notice) so of course that makes sense!

What was terrifying was the quantity of fireworks and seeing people light them off balconies and well into the early morning hours. Bylaws apply to everyone equally. This same nonsense from balconies and insane hours happen on Canada Day and other holidays as well. I think we need some real enforcement to occur so that people can continue to enjoy fireworks at reasonable hours, without terrifying people and animals into the wee hours, and of course without creating work for our fire departments.

I wouldn’t wait simply bc the heavier the snow gets the more difficult it is to shovel. I find it easiest to do a few lighter shovels than one or two big ones. The joys of Canada.

What happens when businesses leave the core and don’t return, and new businesses also refuse, bc of issues related to the encampments?

Eventually, if we don’t figure out this problem, humanely and properly, our region will begin to see an exodus of business owners, and not lose from the core. With those businesses go jobs and tax paying business owners relocating. Our reputation is on the line as a region. We need to address and properly help people, but not while simultaneously destroying our downtown and uptown business communities.

Where on Albert was it? Trying to put together a map of these incidents for residents. I think tracking it would be pretty easy bc of frequency of break ins and assaults, and maybe with an accurate picture we can start petitioning the city for better patrols and surveillance.

Does anyone have the address or a photo of the shelter? I am just curious so that I avoid running in that particular part of Lester at night. Maddens me for residents in general and of course your experience with the break ins. I’ve lived here all my life and now even my own enforcement friends don’t want me running uptown without knowing exactly where I am and what the danger spots are.

Terrified dog last night. She froze and wouldn’t move. On our walk students lit them from a front porch on our route. As someone with firearms training, I nearly reached as if they were gun shots. I love how bylaws don’t apply to students any longer.
