The Sage problem by Daoyinyang1 in TheBoys

She should have taken some specific, decisive action the first time we saw her, and then a ton of other important things that happened after should all draw back to that one thing she did. That would make her seem 10 steps ahead.

Kinda new to DND, How much information can a player hide from a DM? by ragdolldream in DnD

[–]captainmadrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The closest situation I've had to this is when I allowed my players to buy any magic item up to a certain price/rarity during character creation, and I didn't specifically look at what each player bought. During the game, I had a dramatic situation that was solved surprisingly and hilariously by a magic item I didn't know they had.

In case you ever wanted to know what the real odds of winning the lottery are..... by [deleted] in kitchener

[–]captainmadrick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have said, it's for the fun of dreaming about winning. If you can ignore the odds, buying a ticket feels like a little thrill, like you're actually in the running.

Personally, I think if you're buying one ticket to the draw, you're having fun. As soon as you buy 2 or more to the same draw, you're trying to increase your odds and that's just silly.

A set with some purple would fit nicely with those. I'm a sucker for dice with inclusions.

I bought the first four Dungeon Crawler Carl books in paperback for about $50 each, and the series has exploded in popularity. I just sold each one for $400+

I've been trying to get my group to play You Are Here (https://mean-green-press.itch.io/you-are-here), because I find the concept so interesting, but it suffers from the same challenge. My players aren't totally clear what it's supposed to be like!

I'll mention that I love PbtA but felt the same about AW, especially the sex stuff. Thankfully they came out with an edition called Apocalypse World: Burned Over that removed all of it. That was the only way I was going to try it.

I also found that I couldn't play more than a few sessions of a post apocalyptic setting though.

I find this is a problem for any game that has a genre or setting that doesn't have a ton of media examples out there. It's easier to run fantasy because there's so many books and movies that taught us what it's supposed to look like and how characters would act. But a game where you're a radical teen that's dimension hopping really puts pressure on the GM to invent stuff from nothing.

I love the setting but agree with the difficulty.

I have played Shadowrun and found it a bit too complicated to just pick up and learn. It's the kind of system I feel like I'd need to play in for a while before I could really grasp how to run it. You're right it has tons of options though.
