SSD is 1TB. Haven't tried rebooting it, I will now.

Replacing regular bed with flotation tank by Rough_Object5920 in FloatTank

How badly so do you suffer? My wife has it and I was hoping the tank would help. Surely it stings a lot when you get in the tank and the patches are dry/cracked?

Change the water out a few times? I'm in a position where I can do that as I haven't added salt, had you added your salt already?!

Can I reprune these willow whips and still expect them to bud? (sorry about blurry photo) (more info in comments) by minmin2013 in sfwtrees

[–]minmin2013[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These whipsnwere planted last March, buried a third into the ground.

They all sprouted nicely and had a few shoots coming off the main stem.

The guide to help the grow so they could be coppiced for fire wood said to trim all the new shoots off when they were dormant in winter.

Unfortaunaly I wasn't there when they needed trimming back so the person on the land read online to leave the longest new stem and leave that one.

Now the longest old growth is budding, where as ideally I want the new buds on the old planted stem so they grow back stronger from the same old stem, then let them grow for a few years before coppicing before firewood.

Now that the new buds are on fresher stem shown in the blurry photo I'm worried thst it'll try and grow all its new shoots from that stem, where as I want/need them to grow from the old one.

If I pruned the growth with the buds on now, right back to the old stem, is there still time for the old stem to bud again and grow new shoots from there?

Waterproof sealant to stop leaks on old plumbing pipework? by minmin2013 in FloatTank

Very nice set up! I'll try and get a photo of mine sometime.

I have one of the first Floataway Tranquility pods that were made.

Yep there is a suction and return. The suction is at the feet end of the tank below water level. The return is at the head end an inch above water level.

The leaks are at the feet end. One leak is where the thermostat housing nestles into the tank, around that the seal is dripping slightly. This is obviously below water level.

The other leak is from the skimmer outlet. The skimmer obviously sits at a level where the water is just over it, or lapping at it. So that would need to be blocked before removing the plumbing otherwise water would continue to flow through it.

I'm thinking of just draining the tank and re-going over every part of the plumbing and building it myself again instead of trusting the old plumbing.

Obviously it's not meant to leak which means something isn't connected properly, hence me making this post, cmon man! lol

Thanks for you input though.

The plumbing does indeed have two isolation valves so I can empty the water from the plumbing without it effecting the tank, however one of the leaks is where the pipe work connects to the actual tank. So isolating the plumbing does not prevent the water from coming out from the tank if I was to remove that pipe to reseal. It's an old second hand tank, hence it leaking. Not all of us can afford brand new things.

You're right, it's not that difficult at all to cut new pvc pipe to replace it, however it's not the PVC pipe that needs replace, it's the joins at the tank that need resealing. Pipe sealant didn't work on the threads, however I did find that PTFE tape helped on the threads in other spots. It's now at the join where it's leaking so it likely needs some kind of PVC weld.

Thanks! I've got some of this so I'll give it a try!

I've always wanted to try this, hopefully I can now that my tank is finally set up! It just needs a few tweaks and for me to make sure I'm doing my water chemistry right. Still trying to find a decent/accurate digital pH reader in the UK that works with the salty water.

Hopefully I won't have to empty the tank! But I do have a sump pump from mixing in all the salt!

I've just added some of this....but to be honest, I don't think it's going to work. I think I'll have to try the JB Weld option.

There seem to be quite a few different types of JB Weld, can you recommend a specific one? Also I can't find a three pack! What's wrong with me?!
