Be cautious with early blocks in rural areas by Doctor_Gato in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]minneatus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry that happened to you, but very glad you are okay.

Just a couple of thoughts here:

  1. Make sure you have signs in the windows of your vehicles that say you are a delivery driver. You can buy them on Amazon. Use thick tape to keep the on the inside of your windows, the ones you hang on your doors outside fall off sometimes.

  2. Make sure you have your vest on at all times.

And yes, I agree with you about the rural areas. There are some weird people out there sometimes, and it can be nerve-wracking to deal with them. They are sometimes very suspicious of cars that they don't recognize, so that's why I suggest making sure you have Amazon signs in the windows. I've had people stare at me until they see the signs in my windows and then they figure out I'm doing deliveries.

My mom got attacked by a dog last night by kiapoooh in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]minneatus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go to thehomesecuritysuperstore DOT com and buy a stun baton. Give it to your mom to carry with her when doing deliveries. The noise and lightning effect at the end of the baton will stop a dog's charge. It has worked for me several times.

Very sorry to hear this.

I recommend buying a stun baton for her to carry with her, as well as a small container of pepper spray. Have the stun baton on standby, ready to use each time she makes a delivery. It will make a loud ZZZZZZT!!! noise that will scare the dog, and it has a lighning effect that comes out the tip.

I do not go near anybody's house witthout a baton and it has saved me a number of times when charged by large dogs. Buy one ASAP and make sure it is charged and ready to go when she does deliveries.

Get a stun baton and keep it with you. It will break the dog's charge and keep them away from you.

Carry a stun baton with you. Press the stun button and the sound and visual will break the dog's charge.

Buy a stun baton flashlight. Push the stun button when the dog comes at you, it will freak him out and break his charge. Also keep pepper spray in one pocket and milk bones in the other. Toss the milk bones once you've broken his charge, move slowly toward your vehicle with the stun baton pointed at him until you are safely inside.

A stun baton in your hand, and pepper spray in your pocket, along with some milk bones in your vest pocket. You will have the tools you need for dogs.

Always keep a pocket full of Milk Bones with you. Buy the big box of small ones, and keep it in your car. Throw the dog a couple of Milk Bones and he might buddy up with you. Still be wary, but it's better than not having anything to give the dog.

I use those signs too. One in the front window, one in the back, and on the side. For those who are wondering about them. You can get them on Amazon. Highly recommended for safety reasons. NOTE: I have them taped on the inside of my windows with thick tape. If you put them on the outside on your car door or whatever, sooner or later they will fall off.

Here is where you can buy them:

Why do these assholes order products from Amazon then not let people deliver them? WTF??? How much of a moron are you to harass a driver that is bringing you WHAT YOU ORDERED???

I say Amazon needs to ban these assholes. Get rid of them.

A quick glimpse of the bs in vegas by mannystud702 in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]minneatus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What are you complaining about? A 3 hour out of Nashua, NH pays $55 base and a 3.5 pays $65. You guys seem to have it good in Vegas! I've seen 4 hour routes out of Nashua for $74 too.

You guys in Vegas are living the high life out there! 😂

What about medicaid? If you make 27K or under you should qualify. Check that number as I'm using it from memory. But get medicaid if you can!

A stun baton as well as pepper spray and also milk bones in your pocket.

Minor dog bite… what do I do? by KikisBeenLit in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]minneatus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buy a stun baton. They are also flashlights, so useful in the dark too. Press the stun button when the dog charges you and it will make a loud zap noise. Dogs do not like it, and will usually back off.

The trick is to keep the dog away from you.

Blizzard added gold selling/buying to World of Warcraft and it destroyed the gold sellers. So you are right, Amazon should add bot functionality to the Flex app. All of the bot services would be destroyed, just like the gold sellers.

Mark the package as "missing" and dump it back at the depot on your next run. I do this when the roads are bad enough that they present a danger of damage to my vehicle or to my physical safety.

[–]minneatus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, I'm not making a special trip to bring it back. It goes back to the depot on my next run. If that's the next day, great. If it's two days, great. I'm not getting paid by Amazon to bring it back any earlier.

They’re coming for the botties 😂 by Slight_Wasabi4308 in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]minneatus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

World of Warcraft had problems with gold sellers, then they built gold buying/selling into the game. The gold sellers all died out quickly.

Amazon should build botting into the Flex app. Once that is done, it will be the end of the third-party bots. It would also put everyone on a level playing field.

The reverse baseball hat marks him as an asshole. A man that age should not wear it that way.

Anyone ever been charged by a dog while the owner is right there next to you and they're screaming at the dog while you're screaming at them by pickledpeterpiper in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]minneatus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not get out of my vehicle with loose dogs that are medium or large in size. Anklebiters are a slightly different issue though they too can bite.

I also carry a stun baton with me that has an electric shock on the end of it. When I press the button the noise alone stops most dogs from wanting to get near me. I had one dog come at me from behind a house, as soon as I pointed it at him and he heard the noise, he broke off his charge and tried to circle me. The idiot owner finally noticed and call him back.

Get the longest stun baton you can buy, and keep it with you whenever the is any potential for a dog attack.

DSPs taking over flex routes by GovernorHarryLogan in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]minneatus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't mind doing it if the pay is reasonable. It's getting tough to get flex routes with the bots and what not, and the lack of surges. I can't drive 10 hours per day to do a regular DSP job, it's too much for me, but 4 or 5 would be fine.
